Prompt: Naruto and Hinata with Boruto when he takes his first steps [submitted by Anonymous].
Pairing: Naruto and Hinata
Notes: I couldn't stop smiling while thinking about this. I'm just so in love with my otp, and can't function when I think about them. It's just too much!
The first moments in a child's life are precious. Their first smiles bring tears to a mother's eyes and their first word makes a father proud. Firsts are so important that they can't be missed. But first moments are often hard to make happen, especially ones like standing. They have to fall so many times before finally finding the equilibrium within their bodies. They have to cry so many times before their butts don't hit the ground anymore. But taking that first step, that first curious step, is something new and exciting, but often can lead to disaster.
"That's it, you can do it! Yes! Yes!" The blond haired father cheered for his son when his chubby baby hands slipped from his wife's fingers. His small right foot took a tentative step forward. He was wobbling, ready to fall of his bottom at any moment. But for an infant nearing the age of one he sure had many different facial expressions to express how he felt about this moment. His brows were furrowed, determination set in his bright blue eyes and his mouth turned down in a frustrated frown.
Still he kept on even with his mother gasping behind him, hands cupped around her mouth in half fear and half surprise at what she was seeing. Naruto's arms were open for his son, he was only a few more steps away. "That's it, that's it!" He cried in joy for his son as soon as his right foot touched the ground, was planted firmly and he stood with nothing to support him. "Yeah! That's my son!"
"Great job Bolt, Mommy and Daddy are so proud." Hinata's voice was sweet and calming and so full of pride.
Bolt blinked several times, looking from one parent to the other until his eyes rested on matching ones. A smile pulled at his mostly gum filled mouth and a giggle erupted from him. His hands clapped together because he knew he had done something great but as soon as the act was done, he lost his balance and toppled over. His diaper covered bottom hitting the floor with a plop.
"Oh no." The parents said together just before their son belted the most blood curdling cry.
Next time he'd take two steps.
