Accidental Outbursts
Natsu Dragneel somehow figured out what Lucy meant by, "you're the same as her.". She was saying that the both of them were in the same situation. Disliked by their peers.
But why?
He didn't know also.
All he knew was that everyone either hated or ignored him. And he didn't even question the reason why. He just kept everything to himself and kept smiling. Just like he promised himself to do so.
It was also because he promised her.
"Hey Natsu, can you come down for a minute?" his father's voice was heard through the door and the lad wondered why on earth would his father call him in an ungodly hour. It was 12 AM for Mavis' sake!
"I know you're awake. Stop pretending you're asleep and come down."
He mentally cursed as he threw off the blankets that he used to cover himself and forcefully opened the door, "It's 12 AM."
"I know."
"I have school tomorrow."
"I know that also."
Natsu frowned, "Then why did you call me?"
Igneel flashed his son a small smile before sighing, "Natsu, it's been a while since I adopted you." he started, and Natsu further scowled. He knew he was adopted, but why did he had to bring this up now?
Natsu personally didn't like it whenever someone tells him he's adopted. Maybe that's the reason why he hated his classmates. Because they would tease him that he's an orphan and not a biological son. But he didn't mind. He didn't care.
"And I was wondering if you thought about your real parents."
His eyes widened for a second before returning to his usual, squinty ones.
Why was Igneel bringing this up now?
"What are you talking about?" he asked, an eyebrow raised.
"Your...parents called." Igneel replied, eyes glued to the floor, "I mean, your real parents. I talked to them this morning and, um, they were wondering if-"
Natsu sighed, mumbling a soft "No" to his father before closing his door and going back to sleep.
"My real parents...huh?"

Natsu woke up the next morning to the smell of freshly made pancakes and maple syrup. Wondering who it was (since he didn't believe Igneel could've made those), he got down groggily and entered the kitchen.
"Hey Igneel did you- What the f*ck?!" his eyes widened open as he realized there was a figure - a floating figure, to be more precise - standing in front of the stove.
"Oh, Nat-chan, good morning~!" Lucy beamed and handed him a plate, "Your breakfast."
"What the hell are you doing here?!" he pointed accusingly at the ghost, who just blinked at him innocently.
Lucy tilted her head to the side, unsure of what to do, while Natsu only face-palmed and resisted the urge to groan.
"Never mind." he mumbled and took a chair, plopping himself down comfily.
"So Nat-chan," said the ghost as she flew to sit beside Natsu (making the lad move a few inches away), "I was thinking that we should celebrate."
Celebrate? Now that's new.
"For what?"
"Isn't it obvious?" she snickered, "For succeeding in our first favor! And the second! Not only did Erza and Jellal end up together, but you helped Wendy with her grades too! We should totally celebrate~!"
Natsu rolled his eyes and continued eating his food, letting the blonde continue her blabber.
"Cake sounds good! We should totally bake one!" she happily cheered and went to the cupboards to search for ingredients, humming a happy song while leaving a stunned pink-haired boy behind.
'Why is she so happy today?' he thought to himself as he took a slice.
"Hey Natsu, do you have any money?"
"Money? What are you buying, Lucy?"
The blonde flashed him a toothy grin and displayed a recipe of a cake, "Ingredients."
"We don't have to celebrate, you know. I prefer it if we work on the third favor right now." he replied, eyes still not averting from the pancakes.
"We can't work on the third favor right now. You'll have to wait 'till Monday." she chuckled.
Natsu groaned in response, earning another chuckle from the blonde ghost.
"Unless you know how to sneak inside a house and escape stealthily, I suggest we just go the supermarket instead."
This piqued his interest and Natsu turned to the girl with an amused look, "What?"
"You know what I mean," Lucy wiggled her brows, "don't pretend you don't know."
Natsu didn't even hide his smirk anymore.

"Idiot, the flour is located on the cupboard, not the fridge!"
"How am I supposed to know?! They look exactly the same to me!"
Lucy face-palmed and quickly floated to Natsu's side, mumbling about how stupid he is while searching for the flour.
Currently, they are now inside Lucy's house (or ex-house, since she doesn't live in it anymore), and are stealing the leftover ingredients in her kitchen - including the chocolate chips inside the jar, but don't tell Lucy! Since Natsu is pure broke and Lucy, well, she's a ghost, remember?
Natsu didn't even knew that Lucy just lived at the street across from his.
"Hurry up, Natsu! The landlady's gonna come here any minute now!" Lucy yelled hurriedly as she began stuffing all the food in a big, black bag from who-knows-where.
Meanwhile, Natsu was quickly searching the remaining ingredients.
"Eggs...eggs...eggs..." he began mumbling repeatedly as his eyes travel from the rightmost counter to the last one.
"Argh! Where the hell are the goddamn eggs?!"
"Is there anyone inside?"
Natsu let out a manly (manly as he can) shriek as he heard a woman's voice. Quickly, he grabbed the eggs and placed it inside the bag, tip-toeing around to find some place to hide.
"Who's there?" he heard a woman's voice ask.
"L-landlady?!" Lucy's voice boomed throughout the room and Natsu could only roll his eyes. Good thing she wasn't heard or else it could've been trouble.
"I said, who's there?"
'Oh no one, just a burglar and a ghost hunting for food.' Natsu thought in sarcasm as he shifted uncomfortably behind the counter, resisting the urge to chuckle.
When no voice replied, the landlady shrugged and mumbled, "I must've probably misheard something...", before leaving the house.
Natsu took a peek and once the figure left, he sighed in relief and got out of the counter.
"Did we take everything?" Lucy asked, checking the items they've managed to gather.
"I think so..."
"Okay, let's go." the latter nodded and complied at her request, gently opening the window to exit the house.
They couldn't go out the door anymore because the landlady was there, so they had an option to leave through the window (or more like Natsu was the only one, Lucy could easily pass the landlady without her noticing. Lucky ghost.)
The duo tip-toed their way out and finally reached Natsu's house.
"Phew! For a second there, I thought we were goners~!" Lucy happily said as they entered the house, "That was fun, Nat-chan, we should do that again! We were like spies filming a movie~!"
Natsu could only sigh at the ghost's childishness and made his way to the kitchen to place all the stuff they've brought (yes, brought, because they didn't 'buy' it).
"Nat-chan!"
"Hmm?"
"That was fun! Did you had fun?!"
Natsu nodded his head, earning a giggle. Truly, he had fun today. He never had that much excitement before, and it was all thanks to that ghost.
"I like you, Lucy." he smiled before setting off to his room to rest.
He closed his eyes and tried to fall asleep. Not before realizing what he just said to the ghost earlier, who, was left stunned at the kitchen, even until now.
"I like you, Lucy."
His eyes widened as he realized he sounded like confessing to her. Getting up from his bed, he prance around his room over and over again, as if he was nervous of something.
"What the f*ck did I just say?"
Surely, Lucy wouldn't misunderstand...
...right?
