I don't own NCIS Los Angeles! Please review and favorite for more!
Deeks was sitting in his living room all alone. When he left Bates he told his co-workers that he needed to take care of a few things, which technically wasn't a lie. He had to talk to a few guys about setting up a fund to pay for some of their fallen friend's funerals. He mostly didn't want to work on it, he hated funerals. He had to attend his aunt's funeral when he was thirteen and he never felt so
heart broken ever in his life besides his childhood being abused. His aunt was one of the people who reached out to him and told him he could be anything.
Deeks placed his hand on his shaggy hair then felt Monty rub his head against his owner, "Hey bud."
Deeks threw himself back against his couch just staring at the ceiling. He knew the choice was simple, but then again it wasn't. He knew he wasn't really liked at LA PD, he knew it since the day he first arrived even when he joined NCIS. Then again, LA PD is in a way his home. After this whole event, the whole department has rallied around and grew a lot closer. Sure, Deeks still feels like an outsider
among his fellow officers but they didn't ignore him.
He glanced down at his cell phone on his coffee table, "I know who to call."

Kensi let out a deep breathe, "You sure he is alright?"
She and the guys went to a bar, they were enjoying some free time and why not kill it getting a little drunk. Callen and Sam mostly wanted to keep Kensi's mind off of Deeks, it was all she could talk about and even when Deeks wanted to be left alone she protested.
"Kens," Sam turned to face her, "Deeks is a grown man. He will be fine."
Kensi pouted, "But."
Callen looks at Kensi, "Listen he is going through a lot. He needs some space, to sort everything out."
Kensi nods, "I know. I just- feel like every time we get closer, he pushes me away."
Callen took a drink, "Maybe he's afraid."
"Afraid?" Kensi repeated.
Sam nods, "Didn't he have some kind of relationship with Sara Jackson?"
Kensi then remembered Deeks mentioning it. After he became a detective and leaving his former partner on patrol, him and Jackson began a relationship. Deeks never got very detailed about but did mention how serious he was about her and was upset when she ended things.
"I- I'll give him some space." Kensi said and then took a drink.

Deeks got out of his car. Arriving at a nice neighborhood, he waved a couple living next door to the home he was walking to. This house was very small and very simple. There was a garden in the front with varies types of flowers. As well as a cute white fence surrounding the backyard.
Deeks walks up and knocks on the door, "I'm coming!" He hears from behind the door.
The detective had a smirk on his face. He heard foot steps walking toward the door, and when he was opened he turned to the person with a big smile. The women who opened the door was an older women, she had blonde hair but has gray hairs, she even has the same blue eyes as Deeks, and wore scrubs.
"Hey mom." Deeks said.
"Marty," She says.
-NCISLA-
Deeks' mother, Jennifer, had set down a cup of tea. Deeks smiled as a way of thanking his mother. Jennifer has been a nurse for a very long time, even during the abuse she and Deeks was getting from her ex-husband.
"Clearly you aren't here for a visit, Marty." She says and sit down.
Deeks leans back, "What can't your only son come for a visit?"
She giggles, "If only it was that simple. So what kind of trouble are you in now?"
Deeks grins, "You always seem to assume its trouble." He says.
Jennifer's eyes soften, "Marty- I saw the news. I was worried sick, I- couldn't get a hold of you. I found out you were okay from a friend of mine working her shift at the hospital." Jennifer says.
Deeks sighs, "I wanted to call. But- I didn't want to put you in danger." He said.
Jennifer nods, "I see. It was something about a case you were on." She says.
He nods, "Yeah."
Jennifer looks at her tea cup, "So- what is wrong?"
Deeks looks at his mom, "Everything."
She didn't reply. She allowed her son to talk, to give him time to gather his thoughts to put them to words.
Deeks messed with his hair, "I mean I- the department lost a lot of good people, including Sara. Everyone is in panic, and the media won't die down about it. My boss wants to give me a promotion, but if I take it then that means I have to quit my liaison with NCIS."
Jennifer nods, "You really care about NCIS."
Deeks nods, "I know."
Jennifer looks at her son, "I don't see how this is hard."
Deeks looks at his mother, "Yeah but- I've been a cop. That's all I know, I don't know how to be an agent."
Jennifer grins, "Oh Marty."
Deeks made a face, "Mom?" He spoke.
She leans forward to place the tea cup on the coffee table, "I know you son. You know what you want, you're just afraid."
"I'm not afraid." He says.
Jennifer nods, "Okay then what's another reason why to stay with LA PD?"
Deeks was tongue tied. Jennifer nods making her point.
"You care deeply about being a cop, yes, but there is so much you can do as an agent. So much you want to change." Jennifer says.
Deeks looked down at his feet like a child being scolded, and in a way that's what was going on.
Jennifer sighs, "I know you didn't have the best childhood and I feel terrible about it. Your childhood was robbed by a man who should have loved you and I but- he didn't. Now, I know that's why you wanted to be a lawyer, to put people like him behind bars- but then you wanted to catch the monsters and be the law. I always follow your judgement, always proud of whatever choice you make. I just want you to be able to do what makes you happy."
Deeks nods.
Jennifer exhales, "I'm sorry. I over stepped myself."
Deeks looks at her and shakes his head, "No. You said just enough."
Jennifer smiles, "Okay."
Deeks looks at his phone, "I gotta go- take care of something."
She nods, "I understand."
Deeks and Jennifer stand. He embraces his mother and she holds him tight. Once they release each other, Jennifer places her hands on his face with a smile on her face.
"I expect to see you more than a few times a month." Jennifer says.
"I promise I'll be back mom, maybe even bring Monty." Deeks said.
Jennifer laughs as she follows him to the door, "That mutt is always welcomed."
Deeks stepped out of his mom's home, "Alright. I'll see you."
"Okay." She says.
Deeks walks to his car and turns to still see her at the door, "Love you mom."
"Love you too Marty." She says.
-NCISLA-
Deeks enters OPS, everyone was gone or so mostly everyone. Deeks spots the little ninja at her desk, he forms a grin and walks over. Hetty sipping from her tea, and then looked up to see Deeks stand above. Hetty points to a seat, and he sits down in the chair in front of her desk.
"I was wondering if you were ever coming back," Hetty says.
Deeks nods, "I was wondering the same thing."
"How are things?" Hetty asked.
Deeks cleared his throat, "There- how they are expected to be right now."
Hetty nods, "Understood."
Deeks awkwardly shifted in his seat. Hetty noticed the odd tension at that moment. She raises an eyebrow.
"Everything alright detective?" She asks.
"That offer," Deeks started, "To become an agent. If I left LA PD right now, would I have to leave this team?" Deeks asked.
Hetty looks bewildered about the sudden outburst from Deeks, "Leave the team? As in being transferred to another unit?"
Deeks nods, "Of course. What else would I be talking about?"
Hetty places her cup on her desk, "Mr. Deeks, NCIS has serious rules. Regarding, the agents placements. Now if a new agent were to request to be placed at a certain area, a certain someone can request to the director that this agent would do the team justice."
Deeks grins, "You'd do that for me?"
Hetty smirks, "I never said that did I?"
Deeks chuckles, "Of course you didn't."
Hetty looks at the man with more of a serious expression, "Did you do it?"
Deeks shakes his head, "Not yet. I was going to wait- until it was all over."
Hetty nods, "You mean until after all the funerals are over with." She says.
Deeks nods, "Yeah. I can't just leave them now."
"I understand, Mr. Deeks. Take as much time as you need." She says.
Deeks stands up, "Hetty please don't tell anyone that I'm thinking about becoming an agent."
"Why?" Hetty asks.
Deeks grins, "I don't want to be ragged mostly by Sam. Kensi would be all over my ass, and Callen- huh not sure what he'd even do about it." He says.
Hetty smirks, "Okay I'll leave that for you to tell them when you are ready."
Deeks smiles, "Night Hetty."
Deeks starts to head out, while waving goodbye with his back turned to her. Hetty stood at her desk with a small smile on her face and then shakes her head when the young man was out of the building.
"Good night Mr. Deeks, indeed." She says.
