Chapter 8

Elena and Atsushi looked at her one month daughter, whom they named Akemi. Atsushi remembered how happy and excited he felt, when two weeks after their wedding, Elena revealed that she expected their first child. He didn't want his wife to do any work including easy tasks. However, Elena as stubborn person, worked as long as she could, say she would be fine. Only two months, before her due date, she agreed to take rest in her and Atsushi's new house that they bought soon after their wedding.

Atsushi was relieved that the boss agreed that they could live in their own house. They only had to live in a house, which would be close distance to the organization's building. Pisco, even said, the boss would not wait for you hours to appear in the work.

Atsushi sometimes wished for Pisco to make some mistake and be fire from his job. He always acted like he was the boss, which annoyed both Atsushi and Elena. Atsushi sometimes pretended to be Pisco in front of Elena, who found it funny.

He gained full trust from Elena, who said that he was the only person in the whole organization, she could trust and rely on, and that she was glad that she met him.

Atsushi found out that Elena's father worked with Pisco selling cars. After her younger sister's death, both of her parents went insane and became addicted to alcohol and drugs, dying eventually. Pisco, as Elena's father's friend decided to take care of Elena. However, it was only because, he noticed how smart, she was, and he asked the boss, whether Elena could become the member of the organization, and the boss gave his permission for it.

Atsushi was also surprised, when Elena told him that one of the workers revealed to her, the real goal of the organization instead of the boss or Pisco. Atsushi was worried at first for this worker, but Elena assured him that the boss wouldn't and couldn't to do any harm that worker. Atsushi didn't meet this worker yet, though, he found out that the worker was a woman, and that she and Elena became close friends. Atsushi wanted to meet her, but Elena told him that it depended all from her friend as she said only few knew about her existence, which interest Atsushi, but he decided not to ask more questions. Elena never revealed more information that it was necessary.

Even, though Elena was friendly towards other scientists, she never went beyond worker relationship with them. She didn't see the point of revealing other information that about their work.

Atsushi and Elena also agreed that all scientists that they worked with should know all details regarding the science project. It was better for them to know everything. Even though, the goal of the science project, which the scientists thought, it was final, was very similar to the real one. They got permission from the boss to tell other scientists, what they were really working on, though the boss warned them that if some of them would try goes against them, then he would not hesitate to kill them.

Fortunately, the scientists didn't seem to do any problems and what's more, they didn't seem as much shocked as Atsushi imagined them to be. After all, what they thought they worked on was the one of things that the boss wanted to achieve and the real aim of the project was only something to add to the list. However, some scientists seemed to be sceptical claiming that it would be very difficult to make it, but when Atsushi asked them, if they want to quit, they said no.

They weren't stupid and they knew the organization's policy perfectly. It was obvious that if they would decide to quit now, they would not leave the organization alive. The same, if they would try goes against the boss' will.

What happened to Masato quite quickly reach other workers and Atsushi guessed that it was the boss' warning that if someone would try do something the boss didn't agree with, then they would end up dead.

Atsushi would be a fool, if he would decide to oppose the boss, especially having the wife and the daughter, though Elena once said that she didn't work for the boss, but for people, who would need and would want the drug. However, she felt that the boss only wanted this drug for himself and they weren't going to share with anyone, but Elena hoped to do something about it.

Atsushi didn't see they way of providing the drug to other people, if the boss would refuse. He also wondered how they would inform people about the drug. It's not like they could do an advert about it, but Elena said that they shouldn't worry now about it, and also the drug would be only for most needed people.

Elena, however, had to stop working on the project, because she had to take care of their daughter. The boss agreed to give Elena a free year, though Atsushi had to back to work after the week.

This year went rather quickly and calmly. Atsushi tried to be as shorter in the work as he could, so he only gave away the orders to other scientists and he returned home to spend time with his beloved wife and wonderful daughter. He could look at her by hours and never got bored. He even sometimes brought in Ichirou, who loved to play with Akemi.

The boss agreed for Ichirou to go to a kindergarten, after Elena constantly asked Pisco about it. The boss obviously acknowledged the fact that Ichirou being in the kindergarten would bring nothing dangerous to the organization.

Atsushi came back from the organization together with Ichirou.

"Hi, Erena-san and Akemi-chan," Ichirou, who was already five years old, greeted Elena and Akemi.

"Hi, darling," Atsushi kissed his wife on her cheek and hugged Akemi, who was playing with a rattle.

Ichirou started to talk about his friends and teachers from the kindergarten. Elena found it cute how Ichirou seemed to be excited about being in the kindergarten. It was good for him to meet other children, noticed Elena. She wanted Ichirou to have a normal childhood, and not be only surrounded by people from the organization.

"That's amazing Ichirou-kun. You are really the good boy," Elena praised Ichirou, smiling at him.

"Can I play with Akemi-chan?" Ichirou asked.

"Of course," Elena agreed.

While, Ichirou played with Akemi, Elena and Atsushi discussed the situation in the organization.

"Pisco told me that the boss isn't happy about how slow we're working on this project and also they want you to back to work," Atsushi said.

Elena looked at him indignantly as she responded, "Slow? I hope that they didn't forget about what we are working on, and that is not something we can achieve in a day or even in a year."

"I know, but it seems that the boss is in hurry."

"No wonder," Elena muttered.

"Excuse me?" Atsushi asked.

"Nothing. Well, it already passed a year, so I guess, I need return to work," Elena said.

Atsushi was little worried. The boss never complained about his and other scientists' performance. He was afraid that the boss would take steps that he and Elena wouldn't like, but they would not have another choice, but only to agree with it.

However, Atsushi was aware that Elena was also worry about Akemi. Elena and Atsushi would spend less time with her, and considering that boss thought of their job as 'slow', there was no way, they could ask for more free days. Akemi would need to be taken care of by other low ranking members, the same as Ichirou. Elena wasn't happy about it, because she knew that they didn't care for her daughter and they were only doing this for two reasons: it was the order and they would be paid for it.

Unfortunately, there was nothing they could do, and they could only hope that the boss would not go crazy and not ask them to work twenty-four hours per seven days. After all, Atsushi and Elena also wanted to spend time together with their daughter.

Next day, Elena returned to work and it didn't even pass ten minutes, when Pisco showed up to inform her that the boss wanted to see her.

"Not you Miyano-san, only Elena-san."

Atsushi and Elena looked at each other confused. They both were in the charge of the project, so why the boss only wanted to see Elena?

Elena went to the boss' office, where the boss' child voice came from the television.

"I am glad to see you Elena-san."

The boss' voice was weirdly calm, which Elena didn't like it. She found this situation very odd and instead of responding, she stared at the television.

"I do have a task for you and Atsushi. However, I want everyone to think that it was your idea," the boss said with his serious voice.

Elena's eyes narrowed and her lips slightly parted, thinking what the task could be.
