It has been a long time since I updated this story. Thought I'm not gonna abandon the story, turns out I did. Sorry :(

Half of the draft was written separately and on different times. So I may forget some details, but I'm keeping the original storyline.

So, here's a 2 part compensation from me.

It has been a few weeks since the first Kaiju attack. More Rangers have been trained and deployed. More Jaegers have been restored. And more Shatterdomes have been reactivated.

"It's quite amazing that they managed to activate all of the old Shatterdomes. Since some of them went to private buyers.", mumbled Tendo.
"It's not our part to be bothered about it. So, is everyone doing fine?"
"Yes sir. Everybody is working hard."

Mako and Raleigh pass each other at one of the Shatterdome's alley. Raleigh was wiping his full of sweat body and Mako was holding a file on her hand.

Other than battles and meal times, Raleigh and Mako didn't get to see each other much.

"Raleigh, you just finished training the newbies?", asked Mako.
"Yeah. You? Checking their compatibility again?"

Mako gave a nod to the question.

"So, what do you think about the new ones?"
"I'm not gonna say that they are the best. But they're the only ones we have.", said Mako.

Raleigh let out a sigh.

"Yeah."

The one became quiet for a minute, and then Mako gave out another question.

"Come to think of it, I haven't seen Elsa lately."
"Not just Elsa, but all of the research team. They disappeared for weeks. Locking themselves in."
"Do you miss her?"
"Sometimes. The last thing I met her was when she crashed into my room.", answered Raleigh, a bit annoyed.

Mako then stood up and fixes her clothes.

"Well, we just have to trust them and wait. They're probably developing something."
"You're right."

4 days have passed, and only 1 Kaiju attack that has been defeated by the other Shatterdome. It has been quite a peaceful times.

It was lunch time, when someone approached Raleigh and Mako's table. Mako recognized him from the Mechanical Team.

"Can you guys come with me for a moment?", he asked in a low voice.
"What's going on?", asked Raleigh.
"Well, something came up. But please don't make a commotion about it."

Raleigh and Mako then followed the man, trying to look normal. They walked to the special hangar, which for quite a time has been strictly off limits.

Inside was Gipsy Danger. It looked wet, like it just went back from the Ocean.

"What happened?", asked Mako confused.

The man led Raleigh and Mako up the stairs to the Jaeger control. There was another man on the monitors.

"We're just testing the solo pilot system, it was a success when we tested it outside. But when we came back…."
"Who is inside?", Raleigh cut the man off.

He sighed heavily.

"….. It was Elsa."
"What? Didn't she develop the system herself? Why did you let her become the test subject also?!", Mako asked angrily.
"She insisted….."
"Now what's wrong?", Raleigh asked, looking surprisingly calm.
"After we came back, she refused to go out. And she didn't spoke a word."
"You can't override the system from here?"
"No we can't."
"What do you want us here for?"
"Maybe you could talk her out of it."

Raleigh and Mako looked at each other.

"She is still connected but she just stays there frozen."

The man pointed at a monitor that oversees the Pod.

"Have you contacted Hermann or Newton?"
"We already asked them."

Raleigh walked to the Pod door, and wears his communicator.

"Elsa, can you hear me?"

Mako watched carefully at the monitor. There was no verbal answer, but Mako sees a response from her brain waves.

"What are you doing inside?", Raleigh asked again.

It was silence again.

"…. I'm afraid….."

Raleigh looked surprised and then looked at Mako for answer. Before he was able to ask why, Hermann suddenly appeared.

"Back off, let me see it."

Hermann started to type things around the control and was busying himself on it. Raleigh and Mako stepped in closer. Hermann was sort of checking on the codes and system.

"What is this…..",Hermann mumbled.
"What?", Raleigh asked again.
"She installed an auto-pilot Jaeger system!"
"What?!"
"Wasn't she supposed to only make a solo pilot system?", said Mako.
"She already developed a system that is far more advanced than it. But the system's not perfect and now it is taking over her mind."
"What should we do?"
"There must be some way I can override the system and eject her out."

Newton suddenly grabbed Raleigh's arm.

"In the time being, you need to talk to her. It'll be bad, if the system can actually took over her mind."
"What?"
"I'm just saying out of the worst possibilities."

"…..It's red…."

Raleigh glared and realized what he has to do.

Herc steps into the Medical Bay and quickly approached a bed that is surrounded.

"Is she okay?", asked Herc.
"She is currently not responding to anything.", Mako answered.
"Tendo already told me everything. So, instead of making a solo pilot system, she advanced through and created an auto-pilot system?"
"Yes, I saw it, the Andrealexa program. But the program needs some perfecting. She's crazy too actually try it now.", said Herman angrily.
"Andrealexa program…. So what to do with Elsa now?"
"Her vital signs are good. Everything's normal.", said the staff.
"So, why is she not responding?", Raleigh confronted the staff.
"It's like she doesn't want to wake up."

The research team continued their development of the solo pilot system without Elsa. The system was installed to other Jaegers and was running smoothly. Creating a breakthrough in Jaeger piloting system.

With the solo piloting system, the shortage of pilots can be relieved a bit. This leaves the Kaiju skin factor to infiltrate the breach.

Newton was sitting in his desk, with his head resting on his hand and observing the program Elsa made, Andrealexa Program.

"You're not progressing."

Newton kept silent of Hermann's remark.

"Elsa finished her part, the nuclear warheads are being made. It leaves only you."

Newton again, kept silent.

"Say, Hermann. The Andrealexa program is a solo pilot system right?"
"Yes, why?"
"In Elsa's case, how did the program backfires and took over her mind instead? Wasn't it supposed to be Elsa's mind took over the Jaeger and control it?"
"As far as I knew, the program was designed to copy the mind of the pilot and created another virtual pilot mind. This is the prototype laid down on the solo pilot system. With the Andrealexa, the Jaeger was supposed to copy Elsa's mind then doubles itself and then become a single artificial intelligence to handle battles alone."
"Yeah, and why does it backfires?"
"It's the same explanation why you can't tap into a Kaiju's mind alone."

Newton spins his stool and repeatedly tapping his head.

"So one's mind has to be in a more superior state to take over the others right?"
"True."
"So that means, instead of wasting my time doing artificial skin, we can just development a program to actually take over a Kaiju's mind and make them deliver the nuclear warheads themselves!", Newton shouts happily.
"That is actually a good idea, Newton. But how?"
"You're the expert. You figure it out!"

Raleigh sat on his bed and leer at Yancy's picture on his wall.

"Can't believe you actually found the girl of your dreams. Pity you didn't remember her. She's a great girl, I have to say. "

A series of knocks come from Raleigh's door.

"Raleigh. You in there?"

It was Herc's voice. Raleigh quickly opens his room door.

"Yes, sir?"
"I'm on my way to check up on Elsa. You want to come?"

Raleigh and Herc walked the cold and empty alley.

"It's been several days, and I need her supervising the program."
"I tried talking to her. But she doesn't respond in any way."

They both arrived at the Medical Bay and went straight to a room at the back. Where lies the Elsa Trancy, motionless as she was before and the day before it.

"What threw her in this state?", Herc asked confused.
"Back in the Gipsy, when she was inside, she said about something."
"Something about what?"
"Afraid…..and red or something."
"Red?"

Herc and Raleigh drowned in their own thinking, then Herc realizes a movement in Elsa's body. It was more like a tremble.

"Is she trembling?"

Raleigh stood up, surprised. He holds Elsa's trembling hands, her whole body was trembling as if she was dreaming of something extremely scary.

Herc opens the door and asks for a Medical Staff immediately.

Elsa suddenly sat up, surprising both Herc and Raleigh. The look in her eyes was terrible and she looked at her two hands.

"Blood…."
"What?"
"There's blood everywhere."
"There's no blood in here Elsa.
"I killed them all."
"What are you talking about?"

Elsa screamed hysterically and her hands seems like it can tore all her hair apart.

"Elsa!"

Elsa stood up and began to circle the small room.

"I killed it….I killed everything…No…No…"

Raleigh tried to hold Elsa when the staff came in and gave her a sedative. Elsa quickly slides down in Raleigh's embrace.

"This is a secret, okay.", Herc told the staff.

After the surprising event, Raleigh and Herc kept a close watch on Elsa, now lying with her hands tied. It has been 20 minutes since she was sedated. Raleigh and Herc still can't find the explanation of what just happened.

"Mhh…"

A grunt suddenly comes from Elsa. Raleigh stood up and approaches her.

"Elsa?"
"Raleigh?", Elsa answers, still not opening her eyes.
"Yes, it's me. How are you feeling?"
"I feel bad.", Elsa talked in a low voice and tries hard to open her eyes.

Raleigh looked as Elsa was flipping her head and trying to open her eyes as if she has been massively sleepy.

"Can't move my hands….."

Raleigh quickly lets go of the restraints.

"Why did you tie me up?"
"Some reasons…"
"Some reasons?"
"Yeah."
"Can I go back to sleep? At least for the day."
"Sure, sure. Take your time."

Days past as if nothing happened. Herc and Raleigh kept the incident secret and everyone just assume Elsa finally woke up normally.

Elsa went back to work and Newton immediately confronts him of his idea.

"I know it's stupid, it's like going back to our first assumption.", Hermann cut out after Newton finishes his talking.
"We can try it… But how do we tap into the Kaiju? It needs some kind of physiological contact. Using your equipment, we need to go straight to the brain. Even if we did succeed in tapping the mind, half of the body would probably melt away already.", said Elsa.
"I guess, if we manage to engage contact before death or near death, it'll solve the problem."
"And the artificial skin thingy can come in handy if we need to patch up the Kaiju."
"This is risky. We need to continue your part as well Newton and I'll call Panama and ask them to send my equipment here to do this plan."
"You already have an equipment on this?", Hermann asked surprised.
"Sort of, I used in on Yancy, the memory eraser."

Hermann and Newton both look at each other with confused look.

"Is there an explanation for what happened to Elsa?", asked Raleigh.
"We should see if this'll develop in the future or not. We shouldn't let her pilot anymore."
"She said she killed somebody…. Can you do a background check on her?"
"Tendo looked her up the first time you looked for her. He must've said something if something's off."
"Look it up again."
"We need Tendo."

Raleigh and Herc approach Tendo, that is always busy with his job. Raleigh didn't take his time and went straight for the question.

Tendo let out a sigh.

"To tell you the truth… I can't access her background since the first. It was locked with a higher security and her job history only starts from Panama, nothing else. Not much of her information is available. It seems like there is no Elsa Trancy before she works in Panama."

"Who in the world is Elsa?"
