THREE YEARS LATER…

Sam stared at the wall in front of him, trying to ignore all the people behind him just for a moment. He took a deep breath and tried to forget the world, closing his eyes to drown out the piano he could hear coming from behind him. Suddenly, he felt a hand on his shoulder and he turned to see Blaine smiling at him.

"You okay?" Blaine asked.

"Terrified." Sam replied.

"It's your wedding day, of course you are. Trust me, the minute you see Rachel walk down that aisle your nerves will just disappear in an instant. She looks stunning."

"Of course she does, it's her." Sam replied.

"Samuel Evans, you have no idea."

Just then, the music changed and the crowd behind the men stood up. Blaine smiled encouragingly at Sam, who turned around and instantly felt tears begin to form at the sight of Rachel walking down the aisle, beaming in a beautiful white dress. Kurt desperately wiped tears from his eyes, sharing a packet of tissues with Carole, his stepmom. Sam could see himself that Rachel too was tearing up as she approached him. Her maid of honour, Santana, smiled at her through her tears as she reached the end of the aisle. Rachel and Sam looked at each other, Sam mouthing 'I love you' and Rachel doing the same. Looking down, Rachel found Sam's hand and joined it with her own. The two of them smiled at each other again, knowing that they were about to be joined together forever, and it was meant to be.

TWO YEARS LATER…

Kurt and Blaine pulled up on Rachel and Sam's drive and were instantly impressed by the house before them.

"I can't believe Rachel actually managed to get Sam to move out of that apartment and move here. I mean, it was definitely the right choice, but still. He must really love her." Kurt said.

"I know, but there's plenty of room for Deano to run around in the big garden and we both know when Rachel gets an idea she won't rest until she gets her way." Blaine said and Kurt laughed as they got out of the car.

"Too true. Can you believe we haven't seen them for seven months? I was getting so tired of the weekly phone calls; I can't wait to actually talk face to face again. We're back home with our friends and our little girl and it's joyous; I'm tired of all those business trips that go on for months on end." Kurt said and Blaine nodded as he rang the doorbell.

"Yeah, but Burt and Carole were pretty reluctant to let Ellie move back in with us. They said she was good as gold the whole time."

"She's our little angel, I expected nothing less." Kurt smiled as the door opened and Sam greeted them with a hug, inviting them in.

After getting some drinks, the three men all sat on the expensive sofa while Deano reacquainted himself with Kurt and Blaine's smell, to Blaine's amusement and Kurt's annoyance.

"So, where's Rachel?" Kurt asked.

"Upstairs; she'll be down soon. We have a bit of a surprise for you." Sam explained.

"Oh, exciting! Anyway, how's the house?" Blaine asked.

"I had my doubts, but I really do love it. The piano gets its own room and everything. It really is perfect, and I have you two to thank for all of this." Sam said.

"What do you mean?"

"If you two hadn't have decided to have a baby, I wouldn't have met the most beautiful woman on this planet. I wouldn't have married her, I probably wouldn't have got Deano and I would definitely still be living in that apartment wondering if my life was actually worth living. Rachel has showed me that it was. So, thank you." Sam said meaningfully.

"Dammit Evans, I've been here for five minutes and I'm crying." Kurt said, making the others laugh. They heard footsteps coming down the stairs and grew excited.

"Is that a Mrs Evans I hear?" Blaine cried, prompting the infectious laugh that could only have come from Rachel's mouth.

"Mrs Evans and her plus one." Rachel said from the top of the stairs.

"Your husband's already down here." Blaine commented.

"Not Sam. This plus one." Rachel said, coming into everyone's view and revealing a baby bump. Kurt and Blaine stood up in shock, nearly dropping their glasses.

"SURPRISE!" Rachel squealed as she walked into the living room and hugged a shocked Kurt and Blaine.

"But, but…what?" Kurt mustered.

"We wanted to keep it a surprise for when we saw you in person. Five months gone." Rachel beamed, kissing Sam as she reached him.

"Holy crap! Congratulations!" Blaine screamed excitedly, hugging the pair of them.

"This is amazing! Ellie's gonna be ecstatic." Kurt smiled.

"Thank you. It really has all come together. The husband, the house, the dog and the baby. Dreams really do come true." Rachel said with a huge grin.

"Oh, I'm so proud of us! Look at how far we've come in five years. Hug me now!" Kurt said. Everyone laughed as they formed a group hug. In years to come, all four of them would look back on that moment as one of their fondest memories. The time that they had, all those years, they would hold forever.

FIVE MONTHS LATER…

2:38 AM.

Rachel looked down into a baby blue cot, where a beautiful baby boy was sleeping soundly. She took in his every breath, every slight move of his fingers, every slight kick and every time he opened his mouth even the tiniest amount, proud of what she and Sam had made together. She had loved watching Ellie grow up over the years knowing she had brought her into the world, and she knew it would be even better watching her and Sam's son do the same. Suddenly, she felt two muscular arms gently wrap around her and she smiled as Sam kissed her forehead.

"I thought you were supposed to sleep when they sleep." Sam teased with a whisper and she playfully hit him.

"I can't sleep knowing he's here doing adorable little things. I don't want to miss anything." Rachel replied.

"If you want to watch him sleep, you might as well wait for his teenage years if he's anything like me." Sam said with a smile.

"Maybe. Poor dear even inherited your trouty mouth." Rachel smiled.

"Trouty and proud." Sam whispered, making Rachel giggle.

"Well, at least he didn't get my nose too, he would've been screwed." Rachel joked.

"Your nose is beautiful, and so are my lips. Besides, he's got your beautiful brown eyes, and that can't be bad. Those were the first things I ever saw when we first met. I was hooked from that second." Sam said. Rachel faced him and the two kissed passionately.

"I bloody love you, Samuel Evans." Rachel said.

"You know I don't mind being called Samuel anymore." Sam replied.

"I know, but it just brings me back to the old days. Part of me misses them."

"Me too, but they're not going anywhere. Those days are staying in our memories and in our hearts, and we've got all the time in the world to make more with this little guy. We're gonna be one hell of a team. The Evans'." Sam said softly, kissing Rachel's hair.

"True. Sam, Rachel and Lewis Evans. We're gonna be unstoppable." Rachel smiled, kissing Sam once more.

"Shall we get some sleep now, while we have the chance?" Sam asked. Rachel nodded, gently stroking the side of Lewis' head before leading Sam to the nearby bed. Sam took a last proud look at his son before climbing into bed and snuggling up with Rachel.

"All of this from doing a good deed for two of my gay friends." Rachel said.

"I know. The world's crazy."

"Crazy, but certainly good. All of this is all I ever could have wanted, and all it took was to walk into that apartment and look into your eyes. And now we've got him, something truly special."

"Well, being part of something special makes you special." Sam smiled, kissing Rachel one more time. Rachel smiled and turned off the light.

"Goodnight, Samuel."

"Shut up, Berry."

The three Evans' slept peacefully, dreaming of the happiness their future would bring them. Through every good time and bad time, they would be there for each other and love one another until the very end. Because no matter what, Rachel and Sam would always remember the day they met, and the rest was history. The day their story began; a story that would never end. The story of Rachel Berry and Sam Evans, the boy who saw the girl and fell in love…

…and the girl who smiled because she knew.
