(A/N: Yeah, this is one of those times where I'm not really going to apologize for the long wait since I really did try, but my jobs were tag teaming me again, and not in the good sexy way. Anyway, I'm pretty happy with this chapter, especially the flashback as Dr. Shelby is just so much fun to write. I wanted to have some fun with him this chapter, considering. And I wanted to delve some into Mindy's crazy as well so we know Dave's not alone in his psychosis. All in all, I hope you enjoy it, and I'm looking forward to the next chapter. Also, for those keeping track this is officially my longest story. It's kind of in a race with "Opposites Attract". No clue whose gonna win. Anyway, as always, feel free to let me know what you think.)

"Ms. Macready."

"Dr. Shelby."

Dr. Shelby looked up from his clipboard, his usual neutral expression on his face. "Have we calmed down?"

"Don't fucking talk down to me. What you did was totally shitty and you know it! Maybe I overreacted a bit-"

"Thank you for admitting that."

"You cocky, Cunt! It doesn't mean that you weren't a total asshole!" Mindy grumbled.

"I'm not being cocky." Dr. Shelby replied, completely unfazed by Mindy's insults, "I was trying to prove a point. Two points, actually. I only got to one last time."

Mindy raised one of her eyebrows, skeptically.

"You said you were in no danger when you were in the scenario I used. So say, the daughter you were rescuing was also in no danger. Would you have saved her first or killed the father?"

Mindy blanked for a short moment and then grumbled, "I would have done them simultaneously…"

This time, Dr. Shelby was the one with the skeptical look. "And how would you have done that, Ms. Macready? …if you don't mind me asking, that is."

"Well you see," Mindy started, reaching forward and grabbing a letter opener off of Dr. Shelby's desk."I'd have run for the girl and chucked a knife, right at the father's neck. Like so…" Without looking, Mindy threw the letter opener into the wall. "Right under the center of your third plaque, right Doc?"

Dr. Shelby didn't answer, nor did he look at the letter opener, which was, in fact, embedded right under the center of his third plaque. He merely looked back and forth between Mindy and the restraints that he genuinely hadn't seen her escape. "…You could have gotten out of those at any time."

Mindy grinned sitting back down in her chair. "There's a reason my Daddy cuffed me and chucked me in the lake, genius. But you already know that, don't you? That's why I'm changing facilities tomorrow."

Dr. Shelby paused. "You know about that, do you?"

"Of course I do." Mindy rolled her eyes. "You'd be amazed what I know, Corny. You don't mind if I call you Corny, do you?"

"I'd prefer if you called me Dr. Shelby. Though as we've established, you'll call me whatever you want to. If you insist on using my given name, I'd prefer you call me Cornelius."

Mindy smiled. "Why'd you change it?"

"We're not here to talk about me, Ms. Macready. We're here to talk about our last conversation. You said that I wouldn't have the time to regain your trust. I don't think that was a threat to my life. Let me be frank with you, Mindy. We've made a breakthrough. You need to continue your treatment. Just give me some more time… You'll even be able to have visitors if you improve enough in the program."

"Psh!" Mindy rolled her eyes again. "There's nobody I want to visit me. Marcus is better off without me, and don't even get me started on my mom." Mindy then noticed that Dr. Shelby seemed to be looking at her expectantly. "What?"

"…no one else you'd be happy to see visit?" When Mindy gave him a blank look, Dr. Shelby let out a slight chuckle. "Interesting. I think you actually believe that…"

"What are you-?" Mindy questioned, and then immediately got impatient. "Never mind. Why does any of this matter? You're moving me anyway…right?"

Dr. Shelby's eyes narrowed as he noted Mindy's smile. "Should I take that to mean you have some kind of contingency either way?"

Mindy smiled wider and leaned back in her chair, crossing her arms. "No clue what you're talking about, Doc. Though I'm guessing if I'm even half as smart and talented as you say I am, if I am allegedly planning an escape, and I'm not admitting to it, but if I was…in theory…ain't a fuck of a lot you can do about it."

"Hm…we'll see about that, Ms. Macready…moving along…the second point I was trying to make…was that you'd have killed the father when the daughter wasn't in any actual danger. You had to make a split decision and by your own words, that decision was wrong."

Mindy blinked, absorbing the information, but refused to let it show. "I'm a fucking superhero, I'm not God. I'm sure I've made mistakes and I'm sure I'll make them again. All I can do is try not to. You get bogged down in shit like that and you'll never do anything. Fuck, what if those guys Dave took out on that Youtube video had a reason to be ganging up on that one guy. Maybe he raped one of their sisters, or one of their moms. Or all of their sisters and their moms, who fucking knows? We see something that looks wrong and unlike everyone else who looks the other way, we do something about it. What I do just happens to be permanent."

Dr. Shelby started to write something down on his pad as he looked up. "Have you noticed, by any chance, Ms. Macready, how often Dave Lizewski becomes relevant to the points you try to get across to me?"

"So? I told you, he's the only other superhero I know besides my Daddy."

"…so you really don't see it then…interesting…" Dr. Shelby wrote down something else.

"See what?! I hate it when you get all cryptic and shit like this! Just tell me what you're writing on the fucking pad."

Dr. Shelby let out a very rare smirk. "Nothing of importance, Ms. Macready. Nothing of importance. However, I'm sure if you actually did read what was on this pad, true as it may be, you'd probably follow through on your countless threats against me."

"Huh." Mindy glared. "Maybe it's a good thing I don't know what's on it then."

"My thoughts exactly, Ms. Macready."

Mindy stretched as she woke up, once more, more than happy with the exhausting 'exercise' from the previous night. When she looked over, she smiled seeing that Dave was still soundly sleeping. Maybe she had been a little…overzealous that night… It was totally his fault for teasing her so much. As Mindy looked over him, she began to feel that stirring in her body once more as her fingers roamed over Dave's chest. He reacted slightly, shuddering and letting out a small moan.

Smiling, Mindy bent over to kiss him. "I'd better go before I end up raping you in your sleep." She chuckled to herself, waiting to see if he reacted and she could go through with her threat with a clean conscience. No such luck.

Sleepily making her way to the bathroom, Mindy was about to take a shower when she felt a presence in the doorway. "Enjoying the view?" Mindy asked, coyly looking back over her shoulder.

"Hardly."

"Oh…" Mindy's face fell immediately. "…it's you…"

The massive masculine form leaned against the door. "He needs to go. Now."

Mindy sighed. "No, Daddy. Dave's-"

"Dave is a danger to himself and more importantly, to you. Now, I warned you of this before, Mindy-"

"This isn't the same situation at all!" Mindy growled, exasperated. "Dave is obviously well trained and-"

"Mindy…" Damon interrupted. "I get that you're lonely. Trust me, Baby doll, I get it. But it's been 8 years since you've seen him. You're a completely different person now…and so is he. He's even admitted as much. As much as you might be…enjoying his company…he's not the same green kid 'with potential' that you knew. We don't know what the Hell he is now."

"He's an ally, Daddy. Just like he was before. He's done nothing but try to help me."

Damon gave Mindy a skeptical look. "Try to help you…? Right? That's what you call forcing you out in the open for no good reason, and don't get me started on his obsession with his own guilt. You saw what happened when it took over. Can you even be sure that when he's supposedly 'helping' you, he won't just zone out again?"

Mindy turned back, with a glare. "Fine, I don't know that for a fact, but-"

"But nothing, Mindy! What's the most important thing? What have I drilled into you over and over as the most important thing?"

"…the mission…" Mindy grumbled. "The mission is always the most important thing. But Dave-"

"Dave could have his own agenda. And to make matters worse, you showed him this place, you showed him your new identity, despite what you know is going to happen! It's like you're a glutton for punishment!"

"That's not going to happen again! Dave is different!"

"Is he worth jeopardizing the mission? Because that's exactly what you're doing. The man is insane, and for some reason you keep sharing all your secrets with him anyway." Damon growled.

"He's insane? Really, Daddy? Let she who isn't talking to her dead father cast the first stone." Mindy rolled her eyes.

"Oh…are we doing that now?" Damon asked. "If we're breaking the 'fourth wall', then how about this, Baby doll. I'm not real! I'm in your fucking head! Everything I'm saying, you're also thinking or I wouldn't be here saying it! So let me make myself absolutely clear. Dave knows too much. Dave is dangerous. He needs to go. Permanently."

"I'm not killing Dave!" Mindy roared.

"Then you shouldn't have let him in here." Damon crossed his arms. "Unless you don't want this anymore. Is that what you want? A normal, boring life? Marriage? Kids? Because you can't be a superhero and have that stuff."

"I don't want any of that shit…I'm Hit Girl."

"Then act like it! All of that stuff is nothing but a distraction. And that's what Dave is. A distraction that needs to be cut out."

"I'm…not…killing…Dave."

Damon sighed. "Fine, Mindy…fine. But don't act like I'm the bad guy. I'm just voicing your own damn thoughts, just like I did before. You didn't listen to me then. So when this goes bad, be prepared for my 'I told you so'…assuming you don't end up dead."

Mindy slammed her fists onto the sink, in frustration as her father vanished. She was practically shaking as her father's words…her thoughts… echoed through the bathroom. Logically speaking, he was entirely right. But she didn't want to think logically. It was a mental war between the all important mission and what she felt within herself. Her inward turmoil was interrupted as she felt another presence by the door. As if her father hadn't taunted her enough. She turned to yell at him to get out of her head only to find a completely different person standing in the door. "…Dave…?"

Dave said something but Mindy didn't hear it. All she was thinking of was wondering how long had he been there. She was quite literally talking about whether to kill him or not. On one side that should scare him away, and on the other, her 'father' might be right and he could snap, whether it seemed to be in self defense from Dave's perspective or not…she didn't want to fight him…and she sure as Hell didn't want to kill him. It was never a matter of wanting to…she just might…need to…

"Mindy?"

"Hm?" Mindy snapped out of her pondering.

"Breakfast? I was asking if you wanted any." Dave stated, cautiously.

"B-breakfast?"

"Yeah…you know…first meal of the day and all that?" Dave looked at Mindy skeptically. "I can come back later…if you're busy…with…whatever…"

Mindy did her best to shake it off. "Yeah, breakfast…that's fine." She forced out.

"Okay, then. What do you want? Pancakes? Eggs? Bacon?"

"Um…yeah, eggs, bacon, pancakes, it's all good." Mindy was finding it hard to focus, especially considering that she was currently seeing her father shaking his head behind Dave.

"Eggs and bacon pancakes. Got it." And with that, Dave turned around and headed for the kitchen.

Mindy was momentarily confused as what seemed off about Dave's phrasing made itself evident. "Wait! I didn't say 'bacon pancakes', I said bacon and-," There was a sudden pause as Dave's words sank in. "Fuck yeah, bacon pancakes!"

Dave turned back with a wink. "They'll be ready when you get back out."

Mindy let out a long sigh as she closed the door and finally got into the shower. She was trying to calm herself, since her father tended to appear more when she was hyped up. But no matter how slow she breathed or how good the warm water felt drumming against her skin, the argument still echoed in her mind. Was the mission more important than whatever…it was, she was having with Dave? The question terrified her, because if the answer was yes, then…Dave had to go.

Mindy had at least curbed the visions by the time she'd stepped outside of the bathroom, only to be assaulted by the smell of bacon. A loud moan escaped her lips as Mindy bee lined to the kitchen, to see Dave setting up her plate. "Fuck, that looks good…"

Dave raised an eyebrow, as he saw Mindy with wet hair, and wearing only a tiny, little towel, her eyes practically glowing as she saw the food. "Yeah…yeah, it does." He agreed.

As Mindy sat down and immediately started digging in to the bacon pancakes. "Sweet, monkey balls! Why has no one else thought of doing this?"

"I'm sure they have…" Dave chuckled, forcing his eyes away from Mindy's towel, which was slowly slipping down as she ate, to make more bacon."I think there was even a song about them…"

Mindy grinned back, her mouth full of pancakes, "It's like sex in my mouth!"

Dave couldn't help himself and he almost bent over laughing. "I'm glad you're feeling better."

"Yeah…sorry about that…" Mindy grumbled, after she swallowed. "I was just…um…"

Dave flipped over the bacon he was cooking. "Do you know that you say both sides of the conversation outloud?"

Mindy suddenly blanked, looking up to see Dave was still casually cooking, like he hadn't said anything. "…conversation…?"

Dave shrugged, "When you talk as your Dad, your voice gets all growly."

"Oh God…" Mindy gasped, the blood practically draining from her face. "You…heard me?"

"I didn't have much of a choice, really." Dave looked back, with a smirk. "You were kind of…yelling."

"How…how much did you hear?"

Dave slid the bacon from the pan onto a plate and started breaking it into pieces. "Mindy, look. It's cool. You're right. You don't know me…well…really know me. Your logic's right on the money. I do know too much, if you don't trust me. And you don't have any real reason to do that. If you need to kill me, it's cool."

"It's cool?" Mindy dropped her silverware. "It's COOL?! Dave, I was seriously considering killing you. KILLING YOU! THAT'S NOT FUCKING COOL!"

Dave turned the fire off on the pan and faced Mindy, an odd look on his face. "Mindy…I've come to terms with the ways I'm most likely going to die." Mindy's glare at this statement didn't escape him, but he continued anyway. "I'm going to face someone better than me, make a mistake, sacrifice myself for a greater cause, or give up. And I'm completely okay with dying by any of those situations."

"Including the last one?" Mindy started getting visibly angry as she easily put together what 'give up' meant.

"I think…if I was going to kill myself, I'd have done it by now." Dave chuckled, and it wasn't a happy one, and his eyes rested on his tattoos as he continued. "Every day I'm not dead…I'm helping other people, ya know… it gives me something to live for…"

"But it's okay if I kill you." Mindy growled.

Dave shrugged. "If it's what you need to do to feel safe, I'm fine going that way. I'm pretty sure you'd do it quick…"

"I'M NOT GOING TO KILL YOU, YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE!"

"Then what are you so upset about?" Dave shrugged again.

And that's when it triggered to Mindy what was pissing her off so much. It was Dave's complete nonchalance of whether he died or not. Sure, the fact that it instilled so much fury in her helped her decide she wasn't going to kill him herself, but the storm had already started. "Make your breakfast. Eat. Then I'm gonna kick your ass."

"Excuse me?" Dave asked, giving Mindy a worried look.

"The spar you owe me. Eat, and then we're doing it. I'm going to go get dressed."

"Mindy." Dave called out."I already ate. You took a very long shower. Look, I think I get why you're angry. And all I have to say to that is this is what you wanted. You want 'David' to talk to you, fine. Just ask for him. You said you wanted me. And this is me. I don't value my life, I just don't, and I don't pretend to. That's just how it is."

Mindy's eyes bulged as Dave shrugged again. That was getting to her almost as much as his voice changer, or his refusal to let himself be happy. "Just because I accept it, doesn't mean I have to like it. I value your life, obviously. Which is why I'm not going to kill you. I'm just going to beat you into paste until you see things my way."

"Mindy, wait!" Dave grabbed Mindy's arm as she tried to storm off. "Listen…I really…don't want to fight you right now."

Mindy looked back with a glare. "Too bad, bitch."

"No, you don't understand…" Dave's concerned expression, slowly turned into a smirk. "That is the tiniest towel I've ever seen on a human being, and you're barely wearing it…"

"So?" Mindy rolled her eyes.

"So…" Dave put his hand on Mindy's waist. "I really don't want to fight you right now."

Mindy's eyes widened again as she got Dave's implication and her near nudity gained a different meaning and a stirring began between her legs as well. But she quickly fought it off. "Well too bad. I'm not in the mood."

Dave's chest rumbled as a low growl went through him, his lips moving to Mindy's ear. "Let me try to change that, then. I pissed you off, right? Let me make it up to you…"

As Dave's hands touched her thigh, she damn near melted. Then it hit her through her hormones that this was a fight, just of a different variety, and she would not be manipulated. "I'm going to go get dressed…so I'm not so distracting to you."

"Mindy…It's not going to help…" Dave growled, pressing his lips to Mindy's neck, and subtly slipping her towel further down.

A small moan escaped Mindy's lips, as she instinctively opened her legs, then suddenly snapped back, looking Dave in the face. "Hey! Don't you dare go full beast mode on me, right now."

This caused Dave to snap back as well, as he looked at Mindy curiously. "Full…beast mode?"

Mindy's cheeks tinted slightly. "Yeah…you get this look when you're about to…lose control and…pounce on me…and I'm not completely sure you can stop at that point…" An unconscious smirk started to appear on the young hero's face. "Which, while normally I'm all 'bring it', you need to keep that shit under control right now or it's gonna get real awkward, real fast."

Dave let out a frustrated growl. "You're just trying to get back at me for the amusement park thing…"

"No…" Mindy grabbed Dave's chin and made him look at her. "I get this feeling…you're always going to get really horny when I want to do that spar…"

Dave groaned loudly as he looked down at what Mindy was wearing, or basically wasn't, currently, as with at least half of her body, it wasn't leaving much to the imagination anymore.

"Okay, that's a good point…" Mindy couldn't help but to giggle a bit. "But let me go, and we can fuck afterwards."

Dave gave Mindy a look. "Right…and when do we do anything half way? We deal purely in extremes. Why don't we spar after?"

This got another giggle. "Okay, another good point." Mindy let out another moan as Dave took off his shirt. "You evil bastard…" But almost immediately her face went serious. "Dave…why are you trying so hard not to fight me? And don't say it's because you want to fuck me. That's not the only reason."

Dave let out a loud sigh. "Mindy…if I lose, I lose. If I win, you're pissed at me, and yourself, and you'll probably hold it against me until you can beat me. I have no reason to…want to win. And if you think I threw the match…"

"I would be sooo pissed at you." Mindy threatened.

Dave chuckled. "See my problem, here? But if I fuck you until we can't move anymore…" Dave's lips suddenly pressed against Mindy's, a soft peck. "…everyone wins."

"Hm…" Mindy suddenly looked very thoughtful, the 'fuck you until we can't move anymore' line obviously not getting the desired effect, nor did the teasing kiss. "So you need…motivation then?"

"Yes…" Dave put his hands on Mindy's hips. "…motivation…"

Mindy looked into Dave's eyes and scooted closer to him. "Okay, that's kind of fucked up, because I won this spar fair and square, but whatever…what do you want from me then?"

Dave growled again, the prominent bulge in his pants pressing against Mindy now, as he slid her towel off completely.

"Besides that, retard. You can get that anyway." Mindy rolled her eyes, though her body couldn't help but to respond to his advances by grinding softly against him. "What do you me to do, that I haven't already done? Think about it."

Dave froze, as he obviously was thinking about it. "Something you haven't done?"

Mindy nodded slowly, trying to keep herself under control, as she licked her lips.

Dave's eyes immediately darted to Mindy's lips, as the tip of her tongue slowly darted out and then slid back within her mouth, making her lips wet, teasing him further. "A blowjob."

The blood that had previously drained from Mindy's face suddenly rushed back to it at once, and then some. "A bl-…" When she thought about it, they did tend to go from kissing to naked kissing to frantic, panting, monkey sex. Foreplay wasn't really a word in their dictionary. As Dave said…extremes. "Y-yeah? Well…joke's on you…I've never done that before…"

"I have no problem guiding you…"

'Oh God…' Mindy mentally moaned, or she might have moaned outloud, she wasn't sure. The way Dave said that was so fucking hot. She needed to regain control or they'd just end up fucking on the floor. "Okay then…you win, I suck your cock." Mindy smiled at Dave's reaction her wording. That was the point, she even grabbed him to drive the point home. "And I take it, if I win…"

Dave smiled. "Joke's on you…I have done that before…" And this time, he slowly licked his lips.

Mindy grinned back with a chuckle. "If you hadn't, I probably could have shown you a move or two, anyway." She replied, cockily.

This caused Dave to suddenly cock his head to the side as if her words triggered something, and Mindy was suddenly on edge. "So…" He started, grinning wider. "…he-who-shall-not-be-named was experienced then?"

"…wha?..."

Dave chuckled again. "You said two people, right? One had no clue what he was doing, so I doubt you'd have learned any…tongue tips from him."

"Goddamit, Dave…" Mindy groaned, using the change in atmosphere, to push Dave away so she could put some much needed distance between them before he got her all hot and bothered again.

"Just because I respect you not wanting to talk about him, doesn't mean I'm not curious…"

"Yeah yeah, I'm gonna go get dressed, since there's no way you could focus if we fought naked."

Dave looked very closely as a very naked Mindy walked away. "Sure that has nothing to do with how…slippery your inner thighs are?"

"Bite me!" Mindy called out, entering the room. "Actually, I take that back. I'm going to have your mouth doing something else to me in a bit."

"You do realize that's a win/win situation for me, right?" Dave yelled out, almost positive he could hear Mindy shuddering from the room as he got his shirt off the floor and put it back on.

Dave hadn't been exaggerating about how wet he'd made her. Mindy almost wanted to play with herself before she went back out, to curb her desires a little, only she was pretty sure and orgasm would just make things worse. As she hastily slipped on some comfortable clothes, she couldn't help but think about how Dave kissed and how his tongue moved and how that would translate when he kissed her lower. As if her ego wasn't enough reason to want to kick his ass. While she did love the way Dave leered at her in her provocative clothing, it was nice to put on something comfortable for a change.

She stretched in the room since she got the feeling if she did it in Dave's field of vision…well…yeah… She knew from experience her flexibility was apparently a massive turn on. As she walked out and saw Dave look at her, it was apparently moot since Dave was still looking at her like he was on the verge of as she put it, going full beast mode.

"Down boy."

Dave smiled as he was blatantly looking her up and down. "Too late."

"Dave, I swear, I'm going to be so fucking furious with you if-"

"Don't worry," Dave interrupted. "Full beast mode has two settings."

"Okay then, prove it." Mindy went into a fighting stance and winked. "Go on. Ladies first."
