Beacon Academy Auditorium 4:00 pm

As he turned away, Oberon did his best to maintain an impassive face and not drop kick Kade through the wall. But inside he was silently seething. How dare he judge Jaxon like that?! He has no idea what we've been through, what we've had to endure! He wouldn't understand, save for combat no one would dare to cross a MAX! No, no Oberon, don't rage now, you promised you wouldn't, especially after that. Alright, let's not go down that road, need a distraction, need a distraction… Oh right, Ozpin's speech.

Oberon and the other two Esamirians behind him watched intently as Ozpin walked up to the stage, trailed by Professor Goodwitch. Once he reached the microphone in the middle of the small stage, Ozpin cleared his throat, the amplified noise silencing the auditorium. With Goodwitch at his right, her stern gaze glaring out at the new attendees of Beacon, Ozpin began to speak.

"I'll...keep this brief. You have traveled here today in search of knowledge, to hone your craft and acquire new skills, and when you have finished, you plan to dedicate your life to the protection of the people. But I look amongst you, and all I see is wasted energy, in need of purpose, direction. You assume knowledge will free you of this, but your time at this school will prove that knowledge can only carry you so far. It is up to you to take the first step"

"Well, that wasn't exactly uplifting" Kade chose to remark this to Eric, as they both watched Ozpin walk off the stage with an eyebrow raised under their helmets. The Light Assault said nothing as Goodwitch walked up to the microphone, it seemed Ozpin wasn't the only teacher addressing the students this day.

"You will gather in the ballroom tonight and place your weapons in lockers of your choice. Tomorrow, your initiation begins. Be ready. You are dismissed"

Turning back around, pointedly ignoring Kade, Oberon went and spoke to Eric. "I don't know about you, but I'm not putting my T9-CARV in a locker for the night" He affectionately patted the light machine gun strapped to his back while he said this, it appeared a love of their weapons was a Long family thing.

Before Eric could give his reply, however, Oberon felt a tap on his shoulder. Turning around the heavy assault turned around and was faced with a meek and sorry looking Kade. Well, as meek and sorry a 6'5 armored titan could look. Unconsciously rubbing the back of his armored head, Kade spoke in an apologetic tone, all his previous boisterousness gone.

"L-look Oberon, I-I'm sorry for what I said about Jaxon. I don't expect you to forgive me, but I want you to know that I'm sorry" Kade watched, slightly anxious, as Oberon glanced at Eric, who seemed slightly amused at the sight of a nervous MAX and at Kade sounding so sincere.

Shifting his gaze back to Kade, Oberon scrutinized him for a moment before deciding to give him the benefit of the doubt "Alright, Kade, I forgive you. Just watch your mouth next time, kay?"

Kade, looking much less worried, straightened up and sent a small smile and a chuckle to Oberon. "No problem, Oberon… Now then!" He spoke the last two words with renewed vigor, chuckling again as Oberon jumped slightly at the sudden increase in volume while Eric simply stood unaffected, having gotten used to it after being around Kade for many years.

Ignoring their reactions Kade continued speaking "Let's get going, I want to get some decent shut eye before tomorrow" Oberon nodded, but then held up his finger.

"Jaxon's still sleeping, I'll wake him up" Oberon moved so that he was looking down on Jaxon's sleeping form. After regarding his brother for a few seconds, Oberon pulled his right leg back… and then delivered a swift kick to Jaxon's abdomen, swiftly jumping back as soon as his foot made contact.

Jaxon was up immediately, pistol in one hand and a jagged bladed combat knife in the other. He appeared generally unaffected by Oberon's kick, save for his ragged breathing. He looked around wildly until his eyes fell on the chuckling form of his brother. Eyes narrowing behind his mask, the infiltrator stalked toward his brother until he was right in front of him. He starred his brother down while the New Conglomerate soldiers watched with interest. After a moment, Oberon was finished chuckling and was now looking down at his shorter brother with an eyebrow raised.

Suddenly, Jaxon smirked. He slowly sheathed his weapons and then, in a flash, drove a hard jab with his right hand into Oberon's side where one of the only gaps in his armor was located. The Heavy Assault was instantly on his knees doubled over and cursing in between coughs. Meanwhile, Eric and Kade looked at Jaxon with new found respect and slight fear. There were few people, aside from Heavy Assaults and MAXes, that could bring a Heavy Assault to his knees in a single strike.

Beacon Academy Ballroom 5:30 pm

After Oberon was finally able to pull air back into his lungs, the four soldiers arrived at the ballroom. It was quite a large area. Two stair ways curved up and away from nearby the large double double doors the quartet had entered from. Four large, curtained windows took up the majority of the left and right walls, with a smaller oak double door in each of the corners connecting to the far back wall that was mostly taken up by a large, curtained alcove which hosted three more windows. The color gray seemed to be the theme here as it dominated the walls and curtains, the doors being the exception. Several pale chandeliers hung from the ceiling, lighting the room and giving it a quaint feeling.

The four soldiers, upon their arrival, took some time to walk around and scope out the place, memorizing exits and distances. There were only a handful of students in the ballroom, most had already claimed a place to sleep and were chatting with the other fellow initiates or occupying themselves with another task. However, the conversations soon ground to a halt as the soon-to-be-students stared at their strangely dressed fellow initiates. The few who were busy fiddling with something or reading also took notice of the soldiers, and soon the entire hall fell silent, every pair of eyes on the four Esamirians. To their credit, the four soldiers remained largely unaffected by the stares as Jaxon led them under the stairs to his right.

As conversation returned to the hall, the two blue clad soldiers instantly shifted into more comfortable positions, with Kade propped up against the back wall and Eric lying flat on the ground with his hands behind his head and his jet pack next to him. The two TR warriors, however, both sat next to each other with their legs crossed and their weapons in front of them. Oberon withdrew two cloths that must have been white at some point but were now a mixture of grey and brown. He also took out three bottles that looked like they held oil and grease.

Eric, curious about what they were doing, lifted his head up. Kade didn't really do anything as he had already nodded off. Oberon, who happened to be looking over his shoulder as Eric lifted his head up, spoke before the Light Assault could get a word out.

"Weapon maintenance, kind of a tradition for me and Jax" Nodding a couple times Eric leaned back once more, and was soon asleep. Meanwhile, the Long brothers were disassembling their weapons piece by piece, not rushing, just taking their time. Since they spent most of their time fighting, eating, and sleeping back on Esamir, the quality brother time the two got was few and far in between. However, when they did get time together, they spent it doing this. Simply sitting side by side, cleaning and maintaining their weapons and blocking out everything else was comforting, even if they didn't say anything. The presence of their sibling was enough for Jaxon and Oberon.

By the time they finished wiping down and reassembling their guns, the clock read 8:45. Nodding in contentment, the two brothers then followed the other Esamirian's examples, With Oberon propped up against the wall near Kade while Jaxon was lying on his back, hands behind his head. Their weapons lay next to them, glistening in the faint light. With his brother out as soon as his butt hit the ground, Jaxon also felt himself about to sucumb the call of sleep.

However, just as he was about to enter sleep's warm embrace, a shrill voice ripped it away from him. For the first time since he arrived at this new world, Jaxon felt pure and utter irritation rip through his body. Growling, he turned his head and instantly caught sight of the culprit.

It was a short, white haired girl with pale skin wearing a light blue sleeping gown. She had a light scar over her left eye and ice blue eyes. Her general demeanor, however, screamed rich and uppity. She appeared to be yelling at two girls, one with black hair the tips dyed red that stopped around her neck. She appeared to be meek and apologetic. The other girl, the one with the long mane of blonde hair, was glaring daggers at the white haired girl. There was also a black haired girl sitting against the wall with a book in her hands. It was her candles that were providing the dim light in the hall. She was simply observing the confrontation with a look on her face that said she had no idea what was going on.

For a moment Jaxon looked at the floor, wondering if he should just ignore it and try to go back to sleep. Sneaking a glance at his companions, he found he was the only one had been woken up by the girl's shouting. Taking another glance around the hall, it became apparent that he was the only one in the entire hall who had been woken up. Looking back at the girls, he saw the blonde and white haired girls arguing and, judging from their expressions, were not going to stop anytime soon.

Groaning in annoyance as he made his decision, Jaxon got up and started to make his way over to the quartet of girls. As he walked over, he pondered how to break the fight up. Should I go nice or rude? On one hand I don't want to make a bad impression, but on the other… Ah, fuck it, I've been up for 18 hours, and they stole away my rest, I'm going rude.

Having reached the girls, it appeared their cat fight had not died down and if anything had escalated. Deciding that some slight scare tactics would work, he placed himself right behind the white haired girl, instantly silencing the blonde's loud arguing and the red haired girl's feeble protests. They now stared up at him, wondering exactly what he was doing. The other black haired girl also had her attention on the infiltrator looming behind the white haired girl. Now all he had to wait for was Miss Prissy to shut up. Heh, Miss Prissy, that's a good one.

"And furthermore- ...what?" It seemed Miss Prissy had finally stopped talking. Following the other girl's gazes, she turned around, only to gasp and jump back a couple feet at the sight of Jaxon. She regained her composure quickly, however, and shot Jaxon a glare, but, thankfully, remained silent. After meeting their stares for a moment, he spoke.

"Now that I have your attention, I'm going to kindly have to ask you all to shut the hell up" He spoke the last four words rather venomously, shooting the three girls in front of him a harsh glare. They all seemed taken aback by his words, save for the black haired girl sitting on the floor, who was simply looking at him with a neutral expression.

"Excuse m-"

"I wasn't finished" Jaxon cut through Miss Prissy's words like a hot knife through butter. His glare seemed to increase in intensity as he crossed his arms and continued speaking. "I have been awake for 18 hours. In that time, I have been shot at, I've dragged myself out of a plane crash, been attacked by Grimm, and had my brother try to kick the air out of my lungs. Because of that, I am very goddamn tired. So I need you all to shut up and go to bed before I knock you out myself"

Miss Prissy seemed like she wanted to object, but then thought better of it. Stalking past him, she couldn't resist leaving him with a contemptuous 'hmph' as she walked back to her space. Simply rolling his eyes, Jaxon looked at the other two girls he had yelled at only to find them both staring at him, surprise and shock written on their faces.

As the blonde drew in breath to say something, he cloaked, not wanting to say anything else. Smirking at the even more shocked expression on the girl's faces as he disappeared from sight, Jaxon quickly made his way back to his bed of floor under the stairs. Uncloaking and laying back with a sigh of satisfaction, he swiftly fell asleep, and, thankfully, stayed that way for the rest of the night.
