Chapter 26
Tom's PVO
After sending Zoe the email about being my reference, I was on cloud 9, I couldn't believe my luck. I couldn't wait to tell Sam my good news. At the same time I wanted her to check her emails incase, she had got anything but didn't think it was my place to do so. So as soon as I had sent the email to Zoe, I switched my tablet of and headed back up to the room, hoping that Sam was out of bed as I was excited. Even though it wasn't confirmed, that I will be working there. I was beaming as I got in the lift up to our room. As I went to open my door I had to contain my excitement in case Sam was still asleep. I unlocked the door and went over to the bed quietly in case Sam was still asleep. I noticed it was empty and saw the bathroom door shut, so just sat on the bed smiling. I was daydreaming and didn't know how long I was sat there when I was brought out of my thoughts to someone gagging. At first I thought I was hearing things but then I heard it again. I got up quickly and knocked on the bathroom door "everything ok in there." I said.
At first there was no reply but then I heard what I thought was vomiting. I opened the door hoping it was unlocked which it was and gasped at the site of Sam. She was leant over the toilet vomiting, and she looked so pale. I rushed over to Sam and rubbed her back
"Shhhhhh darling let it all up." I said.
Sam just groaned.
I felt guilty as I hadn't known my Sam was ill, I thought she was just tired. I didn't have a clue how long she had been in the bathroom for,
About few minutes later Sam finished being sick and just leant into me.
I comforted my wife. "You ready to go back to bed" I whispered.
Sam shook her head.
I managed to coax her back to bed but first I went and got her a glass of water and told her to gargle it and spit it out as it would get rid of the vomit taste in her mouth. I got up to get a glass of water but came into find Sam curled up on the floor.
"Sam sweetie, sit up and gargle this water and spit it out and then we can get you back to your comfy bed." Tom said.
Sam just groaned, Tom helped Sam to sit up and held the glass as she took a bit and gargled it before spitting it out.
She did this a few times, then Tom helped her up and Sam leant on him as Tom helped Sam back to bed. He had put the bin by her bed in case she needed it. Tom got Sam comfortable. Sam I need you to tell me what wrong sweetie is if you're in pain anywhere, if you don't want to talk just point." Tom said softly.
"Head, dizzy" Sam muttered.
Tom nodded and comforted her.
"Do you still feel sick?" He asked softly
Sam shook her head "nauseous" she muttered.
Tom nodded and gently stroked her hair; he then touched her forehead and was shocked at how hot it was.
Tom got up and went over to the draw where they had put all the medical supplies and fetched the thermometer. He put it in Sam's ear and waited for it to beep. Once it had beeped, Tom took the thermometer out of Sam's ear and looked at it and was shocked at how high it was. Her temperature was 38.7.
"Sweetie I have just taken your temperature and its 38.7, have you taken any paracetamol this morning." Tom asked.
Sam just groaned at this.
"Sweetie I know you don't feel well but I need to know if you have taken anything as I want to give you something to help with the temperature and headache." Tom said softly.
Sam nodded "Sick" she then whispered.
Tom got the gist "Sweetie are you telling me you had paracetamol and then vomited do you know what time it was."
Sam nodded but didn't say anything else. Tom looked over at the bedside table and saw the paracetamol on the side. He then got up and went into the bathroom and got a cold flannel to put on Sam's forehead to hopefully help with the temperature. He then went to the draw and got a packet of Ibrofen out as he didn't know what time Sam took the paracetamol so didn't want to overdose her on that.
Tom helped Sam prop up as he gave her the Ibrofen, but she pursed her lips together.
"Sweetie I know you are scared to vomit again but at least try it will help with your temperature and headache."
Sam nodded and reluctantly took the ibrofen and sipped the water luckily she kept it down for now. Tom got Sam comfortable before climbing into the bed and pulled her into a cuddle and rubbed her temples hoping that would also help with her headache. This helped slightly and Sam shut her eyes and leant into Tom trying to get to sleep hoping that is all she needed.
Soon Tom could feel his wife relax in his arms he hoped she was asleep. He took a look at her and smiled at the sight of sleeping but then frowned at how pale she looked. He felt so bad and guilty he hadn't been there earlier. All the excitement he had earlier about the job prospect had disappeared which was replaced with worry and concern about Sam. Tom just lay there with Sam asleep in his arms still rubbing her temples gently as she slept. Once Tom ensured that Sam was in a deep sleep he carefully got up from the bed and quietly went over to the draw with all there medical supplies hoping that they had brought some dioralyte with them and possibly some anti-sickness. He was in luck they had some dioralyte in the draw, Tom got it out and put the few packets on the desk taking one and making it up ready for when Sam woke up.
Sam stirred and groaned, she reached out for Tom but couldn't feel him. Tom was in the middle of making the dioralyte but rushed over when he heard his wife groan. He propped her up and grabbed the bucket placing it on her lap as he rubbed her temples softly. Sam found this comforting and leant back on Tom, she felt very nauseous but luckily nothing came out. She still felt very dizzy. Sam grabbed Tom's hand and he squeezed and then he sneakily felt her pulse and was shocked at how fast it was. Tom's brain was clicking into action and he was trying to piece all of Sam's symptoms together. Then all of a sudden it clicked in his brain what Sam had and he felt very sorry for her.
