Chapter 27
Tom's PVO
I've just felt Sam's pulse and it's racing like mad. The other symptoms she has described to me are headache, dizziness, nauseous and vomiting. I try and work out what it is. My mind then clicks, when we first got to Florida, we were very careful about drinking lots and applying sun cream often. I wasn't sure that Sam had been drinking enough. That is why it occurred to me that Sam had sunstroke. I was about just about to ask Sam that when I noticed she had gone limp in my arms. I looked over carefully and saw she was asleep leant against me. I just stayed there and rubbed her shoulder and hair afraid to move as I didn't want to move her.
End of PVO
Sam slept for about an hour before waking up and feeling worse than before, her head was pounding, and she felt extremely nauseous.
"Tom" Sam muttered.
Tom didn't answer as he had fallen asleep.
Sam groaned to herself and tried to deep breath to get rid of the nauseous but it just got worse and she could feel as if she was about to vomit. Sam carefully wriggled herself out of Tom's arms and leant over the bed to reach to pick the bin up. However she didn't manage this as she started vomiting over the bed and floor. Tom got woken up to the sound of vomit. He got up immediately and reached up and picked the bin up for Sam and held it for her as she continued to be sick. Tom also rubbed Sam's back
"Shhh just let it out" Tom said comfortingly.
Sam just groaned as she vomited.
Soon Sam was just dry heaving. Once Tom knew Sam was finshed he placed the bin on the floor and help lie Sam down on the bed in the non-vomit area. Tom then went and cleaned the bin out quickly and then put it beside Sam, before ringing room service and explaining what had happened and if they could get someone to come and change the bed. Sam was so embarrassed. Tom soothed her before clearing the floor.
"Sweetie it's not your fault your not well."
Sam just half hearterdly nodded.
The cleaners came to the room and Tom carefully moved Sam on to the chair and put the bin on her lap in case.
"Sorry" Sam mumbled to the clearners.
"Dear don't worry you can't help it if your not well." One of the cleaners said.
"Do you mind putting towels on top of the bottom sheet, and leaving us spare bedding." Tom said.
"Of course we can put towels on the bed and don't be silly about the sheets we can come and change them if we need to." The cleaner said.
"Thanks but I can change it." Tom said.
"If your sure but don't be afraid or to embarrassed to call us." The cleaner said feeling sorry for Sam she could see how pale she looked.
After the cleaner had finished changing the sheets, Tom helped Sam back over to the bed and helped her to lie her down and get her comfortable.
Tom checked she was comfortable and not feeling like she was going to vomit. Once Tom was convinced that Sam was comfortable and wasn't going to vomit he softly asked her "Sam I need you to be honest with me, how much have you been drinking and I don't mean alcohol because I think you have sunstroke."
Sam just shrugged and didn't answer she just groaned and sighed.
Tom comforted his wife as best as he could. About five minutes later Tom carefully got up and went over and made the dioralyte up for Sam. Once he had mixed the dioralyte powder with water he took over to Sam and gently propped her up on him and he told her to sip it. Sam did as she was told and had about five sips, Tom then let her lie down. "Go to sleep sweetie" Tom soothed.
"cuddles" Sam mumbled.
Tom nodded and cuddled his wife and soothed her to sleep.
Sam soon dosed of and Tom kept hold of his wife as she slept and kept a close eye on her. Tom decided to check Sam's emails while she slept and see if he could get her a locumn job, he knew that would cheer her up even though he half didn't want to think about going home. Tom hadn't been on his tablet long when Sam stirred slightly, so he put it down and comforted her and hoped she would drift of back to sleep.
"head hurts" Sam mumbled.
Tom rubbed her temples and helped to sooth it. "That's nice" Sam mumbled.
"do you still feel sick" Tom asked
"nauseous" Sam mumbled.
"Ok have some more dioralyte before you go back to sleep." Tom instructed.
Sam did as Tom said and then curled up.
Tom was in for a very long day he kept a close eye on Sam. He made sure to slowly rehydrate her with dioralyte. Sam had either been sleeping, throwing up or moaning of headache or dizziness. Sam just groaned she hated feeling like this.
