Chapter 8

I wake up to the sound of my alarm clock. Time for school.

I get out of bed lazily and head out the door to go to the bathroom to freshen up.

Right as I step out of the room I bump into Sophie.

"Sorry." I say shyly looking at her.

"I wanted to talk to you."

This caught my attention, "About what?"

"What did you mean when you told me Daniel's dangerous?"

I don't want to frighten her with what happened, I'm scared that if I tell her, he could possibly find out about it then do something bad to her, "I just want you to be careful with him Soph."

She weighs over what I've said, "I will." then makes her way to the kitchen.

I shake my head, I need to tell her. But I need to talk to either Lucas or Alice first and try to get some information out about him.

I walk into first period and anxiously wait on Alice to walk through the door.

She finally walks through and comes speed walking to her desk that's next to me.

"Details." She says while propping her head on her hand.

I give her a quick run down about what happened and just as I finish I then ask her, "What all do you know about Daniel?"

She gives me blank face, "Why?"

"Because I need to know if I can trust him or not when he's around my sister."

She looks down at the ground, "I can't really tell you, you will have to ask Lucas," she looks at me again, "but all I can tell you is that he will go after what he wants and will not stop until he gets it."

Before I could say anything Mr. Bruce walks through the door, "Alright class let's get started."

Lunch time comes around and as I'm walking towards the Lunch room I notice Lucas and Alice whispering to each other.

They then both look up as if felt my presence approach.

"What's going on?" I ask

"Would you want to sit with us? At the table?" Alice asks at what looks like hope in her eyes.

I'm taken by surprise, "Are the others okay with it?"

They look at each other briefly, "They will be." Lucas says as a matter of fact.

I gulp. I have a bad feeling this will not be a welcoming party.

Alice makes her way towards the doors as Lucas moves closer to me, just inches apart.

"You'll be okay, I promise."

"What if they don't like me?" I look deep into his eyes.

"If my father adores you, they will definitely like you." He gives me a reassuring smile that calms me down.

"I'm nervous." I chew on my lip

He gives a kiss on the forehead, "I'll be right next to you." and with that he puts his arm around me and holds me close.

We walk through the doors and I can see practically everyone staring at Lucas and me, my face reddens.

We get a few feet away from the circled table and there's two empty chairs next to each other.

We take our seats and I feel a bit more welcomed with Lucas on my right and Alice on my left.

I recognized Alex sitting next to her, "Nice to see you again Angelique." Alex gives a grin.

"Just Angel, please." I smile back.

"Well let me introduce you to everyone. You know Alex, this is Render," she points to the guy sitting next to Alex, he has short blonde hair and brown eyes, he's built a little slimmer than Lucas, "Next to him is his boy Lone," he has short black hair with bright pretty blue eyes, He's even slimmer than Render yet they both have muscle, I don't want to judge harshly but I think both Render and Lone are thing because they are sitting awfully close to one another and Alice said 'his boy', "and lastly but certainly not least, this is Grail." Grail sits with a more command posture, with his elbows on the table and hands conjoined resting on his mouth. He has short brown hair and bright hazel eyes and from the looks of it, he must be a body builder cause damn he's built.

Grail gives me a nod, "We've heard so much about you Angel. It's a pleasure to finally meet you." he has a deep mellow voice.

"It's a pleasure to be able to sit with y'all today."

I notice his mouth twitch at the corner after I said y'all.

"It's about time Lucas finally found a girl, we thought he'd die lonely." Lone says in a mocking manner. He talks in a more feminine tone with a hint of a southern tongue.

"Just been waiting for the right one."

Lone fans his face, "How romantic."

Alex starts a conversation with the others so I think this is a good time to ask Lucas about Daniel, I move over enough so I'm able to whisper in his ear, "I need to know what you know about Daniel."

Lucas snaps his head in my direction and see at the corner of my eye so does Render, "What's going on?" he looks very concern.

"I just need to know if I can trust him with Sophie."

He let's out a sigh, "Just don't let you're guard down."

I'm guessing the answer is no which worries me.

I walk into Art class and now I know Render is the one who has it with me.

I sit in my seat and begin to take our my draw pad and pencils until I see two feet standing in front of me.

"I overheard you asking about Daniel." Render looks at me with a straight face.

"Do you know anything about him?"

He looks around to see if the coast is clear I'm guessing then he crouches in front of me and whispers, "Lucas was right about not letting you're guard down but it's also best if you just stay away from him."

"But him and my sister are sort of this thing now, I can't just not be around that."

"I realize that-" He stops talking and looks behind me, I turn around and at the door is Daniel staring at Render.

He makes his way towards us, "So I'm guessing you're buddy buddy with the too gooder's now?"

He was looking at Render but talking to me, "It's none of your concern Daniel."

He looks at me now, "Oh, but it is. I wouldn't get to comfortable with them sweetheart, they'll just throw you out eventually."

"She knows her position." Render snaps

"Trust me, it's just going to end up being a master to her dogs."

Master to her dogs?

"I know what you're doing." Render pokes a finger to Daniel's chest but Daniel just pushes it off as if it was a fly bothering him.

"You know nothing." Daniel gets in Render's face.

"Boys!" the teacher calls out.

Daniel backs off first but doesn't go to his seat, instead walks out the door.

"Are you riding with your sister?" Render asks.

"Yes."

"Could you stay with Lucas instead? Just until nightfall?"

He knows something I don't, "What just happened?"

"I can't explain now, just please do what I say. He'll meet you up front after school."

Before I could say anymore he walks out the door as well. I need to ask Lucas what the hell is going on. Why won't anyone tell me anything?

Class ends and I rush out so I can confront Lucas about what's going on.

I open the front doors of the school and as promised he's there on his bike.

He looks up at me with sorrow eyes while holding two helmets.

"I need to know what's going on." I say walking down the stairs only a few feet away from him.

"I'll explain later-"

I cut him off short, "I'm not getting on this bike with you unless you tell me now."

I stand there with my arms crossed.

He looks around seeing all the people staring at this display I'm putting on, "Please get on. We need to go somewhere private if you want to know." he out stretches his hand offering me to take it.

I give him a few more seconds before finally taking his hand in mine.

After putting on my helmet we're off towards the direction of Alice's house.

We pull into Alice's driveway then hop off the bike and take our helmets off.

"What are we doing here?" I ask handing the helmet to Lucas.

He doesn't say anything for a second as if he's figuring out what to say, "She thought, maybe, if you wanted to know then they should be a part of it."

They?

He takes my hands and brings them to his mouth to kiss them, "Can you do something for me?"

I give him a slight nod.

"Just keep an open mind." He lowers my hands but keeps one in his then leads me to the front door.

The door opens, just as we hit the porch, with Alice on the other side. She doesn't say anything which begins to worry me more about this secret.

We walk in the house, everyone's here, Render, Lone, Grail, Alex, then of course Lucas and Alice.

"Maybe you should sit down for this." Lucas suggest.

I trust his judgment then head to the single cushioned chair. In front of me sits Grail with Render and Lone by his sides. Alex sits on the arm of the sofa they're on next to Render. Alice makes her way towards the other single cushioned chair only about five feet away from me. Lastly, Lucas stands off to the side by the door, but I want him by me.

Grail clears his throat with snaps my attention towards him, "Angel, I don't know you like Lucas an Alice but they say we can trust you with what we're about to tell you."

"I won't tell anyone." I say with my most serious face.

"I'm taking a huge risk with his which could probably end our existence."

"How serious is this secret? Is Daniel going to try to kill you if he knows that I know about..whatever you're going to tell me?" I lean forward slightly.

"Daniel is using you're sister to get to you as close as he can. The reason, I don't know, but I know it's you he's after."

"I don't understand."

Alice cuts in with a soothing voice, "Angel, do you remember when we first met?"

"At the library."

"Do you remember that book you bought?"

"Is he after the book?"

"Not exactly. How much have you read in it?"

"Not a whole lot."

"Okay. Do you remember me asking if you believed in such creatures? You told me you only believe what you see?"

"Yes. Is he some kind of werewolf then? And thinks I may know something about him?"

Grail answers this time, "You knew he was dangerous but for the wrong reason, you felt it, right?"

"Yes, but that didn't answer my question."

He takes a moment to come up with the right response, "Daniel is a werewolf, and he use to be a part of our pack."

I look around the room at everyone's faces, "Y'all are werewolves?"

Grail shakes his head.

I take in a deep breathe then let it out, "I don't mean to be rude but I do have to see it to believe it."

"You will in the time being. Any other questions?"

I give it some thought, "So what happened? With Daniel I mean. Is he coming for some type of revenge for I'm guessing you kicking him out?"

"He believed he should have been Alpha, however he didn't have the blood nor no one voted him. He tried to fight for his position instead which didn't end as he planned. He was then labeled as a Lone Wolf."

"Okay. Do you have any guesses on why he may be coming after me?"

"We think it may involve your connection with Lucas or Alice. That maybe he could get to you and try to make you somehow separate us. Then again it's just an assumption."

I nod and take every bit of detail I'm learning. How are this totally normal people werewolves? I thought they were suppose to be..well like Daniel, but they seem completely normal.

"You seem to be taking this rather well." Grail interrupts my thoughts.

"It's different, but doesn't bother me." I somehow feel totally normal being around these people, safe. It's odd.

Grail stands up, "We'll talk again soon."

Him, Render, Lone, Alex and even Alice make their way towards the back doors leading to the backyard.

They leave the door open so I'm guessing Lucas will have to go with them too.

Lucas slowly makes his way towards me as if I was going to run away any second if he made the wrong move. But I just stand there, starring into his big brown eyes.

He begins to move his hand up but decides against it then just stands where he is, close to three feet away, with his head down.

I look at his profile, I want to touch him, I don't care if he's a different species, I want to be with him.

I close the distance between us then wrap my arms around his neck. I hold on tight until I finally feel those warm thick arms wrap around me.

The tension in my body relaxes, I feel so safe in these arms, I never want to leave.

There's a howl in the distance which could be the others calling for him.

He pulls away first but keeps his hands rested on my hips, "Are you sure you're okay with all of this."

I reach up and plant a kiss on his lips then whisper in his ear, "The more I know about my boyfriend the better."

I hear what sounds like a deeper purr, sounding wilder than a cat, "Call me that again." he whispers back.

"Boyfriend." I purr back, I then hear that deep rumble in his chest come alive, "That's not a heart murmur is it?"

"Just my inner wolf." The deep, mellowness of his voice sends chills down my spine, "I'll call you when we're back."

He pulls my body in closer to his so I could feel his curves then presses his lips to mine. I tangle my fingers in his dark shaggy hair so I could deepen the kiss myself. He slips his tongue barely through my lips which starts to drive me wild. I meet my tongue with his as they move against each other.

There's another howl in the distance but this one carries out longer.

"I better go." He says with his lips still against mine.

He pulls away after a moment and heads out the back door.

I run to it myself and just when I get there he slips through the trees.

I let out a sigh then close the door. After several second I hear a strong beautiful howl, I smile to myself and think about Lucas.
