Chapter 20 new new
A week after the twins were born, It was Paul John Walsh's funeral. Teddy decided to stay in Denver for a week while Spencer went back to California with the kids. Teddy was now standing in Denver Airport waiting for the arrival of her family.
"Ready to see Daddy?" Teddy asked her twins. She always enjoyed talking to her babies even if Spencer may laugh so that they could learn the English language early.
The twins made cute baby sounds as if they were saying yes to Teddy.
"Aw you guys are so cute!" Teddy waited for a few more minutes admiring her babies and looked up and saw her family. Bridgit and Shane ran over to their mom and hugged her.
"I missed you momma!" They said hugging Teddy. The rest of he family greeted each other and slowly made their way over to the car. Teddy was glad to have her family back even with all the bickering and fighting.
"Glad you're back Spence." Teddy smiled.
"Me too, I wish I was just back on better circumstances." Spencer said frowning. Teddy side hugged Spencer and held his hand until they reached the car. They drove home and immediately crashed on the bed. The next day was the funeral.
Teddy, was wearing a long black dress to her ankles, her hair in a French braids with a pair of black flats. Bridget and Grace were wearing the mini versions of what their mother wore.
Spencer, was wearing a dark black tuxedo with a white shirt and a black tie. His hair was combed neatly. The boys looked like exactly like him in every way.
Zaiden and Bella were wrapped in two black blankets with white stitching. They breathed in and out evenly, asleep in their mothers arms. Everything was solemn and quiet to the point of being nearly frightening!
Spencer walked over to his dad and put a baseball in his limp hand. Baseball was a thing that Spencer and his dad would do everyday up until Spencer was 5 and had to attend school. Spencer placed it and walked back remembering a specific day.
-Flashback-
"Daddy!" Five year old Spencer said running up to his father and giving him his favorite baseball that was signed but Big Papie himself.
"There's my boy!" A young Paul said picking up his son and tickling him. He brought him outside and began to play catch with him. "Ah, Spencer, I think you're getting good enough to join he big kids next year!" Paul smiled.
Spencer gave him a grin as his loose tooth began to fall out of place. "Yay!"
The boys continued to throw the ball as they normally would for twenty minutes or until Linda would call them in for lunch.
"Spencer! Paul! Time for lunch!" Linda yelled.
"Who's Paul?" Spencer asked his father every time they would come out.
"I don't know!" Paul would always reply smiling. Spencer would hop up each step and give his mother a hug as always. They sat down to star-shaped peanut butter and Jelly sandwiches. Spencer took a bite and felt his tooth come loose.
"Daddy I lost my tooth!" Spencer said with a toothless grin. Paul smiled a ruffled his sons brown hair.
-End of flashback-
Spencer let out a sob thinking about that day. How that time period of 5 years was probably the best time he ever had with his dad. Teddy rubbed his back in the process and Spencer realized that he has his family to spend time with and to make more happy memories. "I love you Teddy." Spencer said hugging her. "Thanks for all the great memories.
Spencer returned to his normal seating position, and looked up at the blue sky and smiled, he smiled a smile that he hasn't smiled since the day his dad died.
After the funeral, Spencer and his family took the next flight home. They got back at 2 am and eased their way in to bed. Spencer woke up fully refreshed that morning and walked downstairs seeing Teddy sing to her babies. He admired her for a couple minutes and went into his office and started to work on new songs.
Later that night, the family sat down for dinner and we're talking about Teddy and Spencer before they had Jacob and Grace.
"Mom, which one of us were you most like in high school?" Grace asked.
"Um..." Teddy said rubbing her chin. "I was probably most like Shane."
"How so?" Shane asked.
"Well I was pretty the smartest one in the family, and I was Goody Goody."
"Haha, I remember that, I called you that too." Spencer laughed.
"Well I was broken up with you at that time so I could care less about you. I actually made up stories about you getting hit by a bus in my head." Teddy replied.
"Well then..." The family continued to talk and laugh and eat, as Teddy remembered her life before this. She regretted getting pregnant before but doesn't now because she has the life of her dreams. Ready or not, Teddy Duncan is going to continue to take on the world.
