Chapter 3
Gabriel was panting that Tuesday night. Jesus gives me strength, and right now I need it! He silently prayed. He was running and kicking the ball and four Hellions were on his tail, their red jerseys making them look like demons out to get him. His strategy was barely working, the Hellions' defense was better than he had anticipated, the best the team could do was to get tied, 15-15. This was the last fifteen seconds and he just passed the half-way line, Hellions coming for him. He spotted Lacy and passed the ball to her. Gabriel watched as the Hellions focused on her. One Hellion, a white girl with black hair and red streaks, tried to take the ball but Lacy managed to keep it and passed it to Stacy.
Stacy ran as hard as she could, but a sliding tackle from earlier was affecting her now. Just in time Stacy passed the ball back to Gabriel. Gabriel was heading right for a head on collision and kicked the ball to Lucas who immediately sent it to Kory who was waiting right in front of the goal. Gabriel slammed right into the Hellion and ended up on his back and watched Kory receive the ball. The ball flew like an arrow.
The Hellions' goal keeper jumped to catch it.
The ball went in!
"GOAL!" the announcer yelled as the final alarm sounded, "And that's the game folks, after a four year losing streak against the Hooper County Hellions the Christopher Miller Diamonds have won by the skin of their teeth and are moving on to the National Level High School Championship. Good luck Diamonds!" Gabriel laughed and yelled, "AMEN!" as Lacy and Lucas helped him up. "Your crazy plan worked!" Lucas yelled. "Of course it did, I'm a genius!" Gabriel said, and looked at the cheerleaders. One in particular caught his eye; she was a short but leggy girl with blonde hair and green eyes and matching lipstick. "Excuse me a minute," Gabriel said, then went Ghost, black rings flew up and down his body turning his grey eyes and blonde hair green and his soccer uniform turned into a white cape and jumpsuit with black belt, boots, and gloves. He flew up into the air and used his ectoplasmic energy to make fireworks, and wrote in the sky, KORY FARMERSON FOR THE WIN!
Everyone cheered at that and Gabriel swooped down and scooped up the blonde haired green eyed girl in his arms and turned invisible. "You ham," she laughed as she gave him a kiss. "You love me for it, admit it Abby," Gabriel replied in response. Abby Mills looked at her boyfriend then looked away for a minute with a smirk, "I don't know, you can be a little pigheaded at times." Just then Gabriel's Ghost Sense went off and Michael flew in front of him, "Little late for a date, don't you think?" Michael was the opposite of Gabriel; he had inherited his black hair, red eyes, and green skin in his Ghost Form and their Grandpa Danny's black jumpsuit with white belt, boots, and gloves and a black cape. "Can't you give us a little time alone?" Abby exasperatedly asked. "Not when you go flying off like that, it'll attract rumors, which we really don't need right now," Michael responded.
"Fine, we need to hit the showers anyway then we'll go on our date," Gabriel said, and sped off, leaving Michael to eat his dust. Just outside the showers Abby gave him a kiss and told him, "See you at the movies." Gabriel dashed into the showers and got clean, while all the guys there cheered for Kory and him for their victory. "Alright, alright, save the love fest for later," Coach Turner announced. "Now, you all signed the forms, you can go to the movie with Gabriel, whose paying for all of it. Gabriel, all I can say is; I hope you can afford the hit to your wallet. Aside from that, good game, all of you, you boys made me proud today," with that Coach Turner left and Gabriel got dressed in his street clothes.
Gabriel ran out and saw his Dad in his Human Form, blonde hair, purple eyes, glasses, and regular blue shirt and khakis with brown shoes. "Good job son, I'm proud of you," Jerry told him as they walked to their car, where Michael and their little sister Anna were. "So, how long is your movie?" Anna asked him. "About two hours," Gabriel said as they drove. "Dad, can I fly home after my movie?" Anna asked their Dad. Jerry thought about this for a minute and finally said, "Yes, but you have to text me first before you go." Anna smiled at that, and her normally purple eyes glowed green in excitement. They reached the Holo-Theater and got out of the car and all their Ghost Senses went off. Jerry went Ghost and spotted three ghosts approaching, "You kids get inside, I'll handle this." Michael and Anna went into the theater and Gabriel watched as his Dad flew up and approached the ghosts who all looked like cowboys.
Instead of an epic clash he saw them…talking!? Gabriel saw this in surprise then got a call from his Dad, "You can go see your movie now; I have something I need to do." Gabriel then saw that his Dad was indeed looking at him and went into the movie theater and saw his team their. He paid for everyone's tickets, snacks, and drinks and they all headed for the movie while Michael and Anna went to see her movie, Captain Lois and the Sky Pirates, it was a steampunk anime movie about a woman pilot battling sky pirates in an alternate WW1. He was pretty sure Anna got the idea to watch it from their cousin Eve. Gabriel sat between Abby and Stacy just as the previews came on.
To the Soccer/Football fans out there, sorry I didn't put more detail into the game. I don't know a lot about Soccer/Football and this isn't a story about it.
