Chapter 7

Gabriel opened his eyes. He looked up and saw that he was on a bed. A needle was in his arm.

Hospital, he thought.

Why am I in a hospital…

I was in school…

SCHOOL!

"BOMB!" Gabriel yelled then he felt hands reach out and hold him down. "THEIR CHESTS ARE BOMBS!" he yelled again. "GABRIEL! YOU'RE SAFE!" he heard his Mom yell. "BUT THE SCHOOL!" Gabriel screamed. "It's gone Gabriel!" his Mom yelled. He stopped when he heard that. "What?" he whispered. The nurses let him go and he saw his Mom, and he finally realized that he had bandages on his head, ribs, and his left leg was in a cast. His body hurt as he saw a nurse push a button and he felt the pain go away as his Mom told him, "It's gone. The Purifier's bombs destroyed 62% of the school. They're still searching for survivors." "How long have I been out?" he asked. "Two days," his Mom told him. Two days…Then he said, "What about Mike, and Lucas!? Lisa and Stacy, where's Lacy!? Where are they!?" The nurse pressed another button and Gabriel felt himself lose consciousness as he mumbled, "Whar r they?"

Gabriel woke up again to see both his parents there, and Michael with an arm in a cast and Anna had a bandage over her forehead. "What happened to them?" Gabriel asked. A Doctor shined a light in his eyes and asked, "Do you know where you are?" "I'm at the Hospital. Where are my friends?" Gabriel said, "Please…I need to know what happened to them." The Doctor looked at his parents and nodded then left the room. His Dad walked up beside him and put his hand on his shoulder. "Gabriel…they blew themselves up near a crucial support beam of the school, and it increased the damage to the school. Most of it collapsed, and about 114 students and 21 faculty members were caught in the collapse. We haven't heard about your friends yet. We'll let you know as soon as we find out," Jerry told him. "What about Abby? Does she know?" Gabriel asked. "She's been calling every hour since she heard the news, if she stays on schedule then she'll call again in about ten minutes. I can call her now if you want," Marie told him. "Please," Gabriel asked and she typed the number on her phone.

She set it to speaker and he heard Abby's voice, "Mrs. Fenton, what happened!? Have you heard anything?! How's Gabriel!?" "He's finally awake Abby, here he is," his Mom said and pointed her phone's screen at Gabriel and he saw she had it on video chat. "Oh my God Gabriel," Abby whispered and he could tell that she had been crying, her beautiful green eyes were red. "It's good to see you Abs," Gabriel said, "You're a sight for sore…everything." "It hurts just looking at you," Abby said, tears in her eyes and a smile on her lips. "Trust me, it's worse than it looks," Gabriel told her then said, "The school's gone, 62% of it is rubble now." "I heard on the news, everyone is talking about it, it wasn't just you, they tried to hit your whole extended family. But you were hit the hardest, according to the news the only one aside from you who was hurt was your Uncle Roger, he lost his tail and broke his hand," Abby reported.

"Heh, he'll be alright, Uncle Roger's tail gets shot off every other year, it just grows back even fluffier," Gabriel said, then got serious, "I'll tell you if I hear anything about our friends. Love you Abs." "Be careful," Abby said and kissed the screen then it turned off. Once his Mom put her phone away Gabriel said, "I'm so tired right now." "It's the pain medication, don't worry. Just go back to sleep Gabriel, we'll be here when you wake up," Michael told him and Gabriel went back to sleep.
