Hope you guys like it.
This is the end of Season 5.
Chapter 7: The Last Song.
"Yes. You said yes."
I was angry. Pissed at the person sitting beside me.
Dean Bloody Winchester.
"What?"
My words had startled him, bringing him out of his thoughts, out of his over thinking mind. He was exhausted, I could tell, after long hours of driving and time it took us to find Death and talk with him. But now he had another thing to think about, a bigger problem to solve.
"You just signed your brothers' death certificate."
The emotions that should be impossible for angels - anger and worry were eating me away. I was sure Dean didn't know what he had just done. He didn't understand the gravity of the situation.
The fact that he was going to lose his brother forever, because once Sam would jump in the cage, he could never come back.
And Dean didn't have that much power to get him out of there.
"No, we would think of something."
I laughed harshly. It wasn't because I found his words funny; moreover I was filling pity for him. The pity I felt for myself almost every day. It was harsh and rude but I needed him to understand, and wake up from the dreams in which he was living, thinking that he could cheat Death.
He could never defeat Death.
"You can't." I hissed, glaring at him. "Because there is no one who could cheat Death. You just promised Death, himself, that you would let your brother jump in."
"There must be a way," He was clutching at the hopes that weren't there. I just shook my head, chuckling. "Why don't you tell me what you just promised him? What was 'I want you to do it'?"
I froze on hearing his question. Knew it would come up, but I was telling myself, I had some time to think about it. What should I say that I had just told Death that I would jump myself inside that cage if his brother wouldn't be able to get control on Lucifer?
Lucifer was strong, stronger than me, maybe even Michael. I wasn't sure of the fact. How could a human Sam could get a hold over an archangel?
"I told you not to say yes."
His eyes narrowed when he heard my answer. His hands tightened on the steering wheel, his knuckled turning white as he questioned. "What did you do?"
I gulped thinking that if I should tell him or not.
But what would telling him the truth get me. Sympathy, Nah, I didn't need anyone to feel sorry for me, especially Dean Winchester.
"I promised Death that I would make sure Sam jump in."
The screeching sound of the brake and forward jerk was the response I got. I closed my eyes, knowing somewhere my words were the truth.
"Get out."
I sighed and with a nod got out of the car. Dean climbed, closing the door to the driver side hardly.
"I told Cas we shouldn't trust you. He said you were the only angel that we could trust. I believed him," He looked helpless. I hated the expression on his face. So much hatred that no one had ever shown me before. "Even though my instinct told me you would screw us."
"Dean-"
"You say you are so better than those dicks but you are worse than your brothers."
"Watch your tone-"
"You just told me that you would kill my brother. Do you even know how it feel-"
"ENOUGH!" I screeched, feeling the energy inside bubbling as the anger increased. "You don't think I understand. I?" I shook my head and moved away from him so I wouldn't hit him. "I left my home. Gabriel died helping you, and I don't understand what it feels to lose a brother."
I chuckled darkly. "Michael hates me. He wants to throw me in the prison and torture me for rest of the eternity. If he sees me now he will kill me first. Do you know how it feels when the brother you looked up to all your life wants to kill you?"
"Raphael always hated my guts. From the start he was cruel towards me because I was the youngest. He hated that I was even born."
"Gabriel. I watched him die; my one brother killed the other. He died because I begged him to help you guys, because I wanted to help you. A brother who had taken care of me from the start and who was like a parent, died because of you."
"Lucifer. People forget but he's my brother. He is the devil, Satan, the most evil thing whatever the name you humans call him, but he was my brother first, he is even now. The brother who played with me, promised me that would protect me, killed the other one like it wasn't anything. As if it was easy, like snapping your finger and I want to throw him in the cage."
"So No! Dean, I don't understand the pain you feel because I am just a pathetic angel, who would just loose her whole family if she helped you. But here I am doing that exact thing."
It was easy to find him. He wasn't trying to hide; he knew I would look him up as soon as I was done with Death.
"You are a real bastard."
"Thanks for the compliment darling."
I shook my head at the all too proud tone he spoke with. Crowley was one of those people who took even insults as compliments. To him, it meant that he was doing something, that made people react to him.
"You knew he would give it up."
It wasn't a question and but a statement.
"Did I know that Death was so irritated with your elder brother that he would give up his own ring? Hmm… Maybe or maybe not."
The smirk on his arrogant face irritated me. Crowley was a really bastard but a genius one. The thing that I had learned after knowing Crowley for years, was he thought of all the options, any situation that could happen and if there was something left behind, he would find a way to manipulate it for his advantage.
If Lucifer could even tolerate Crowley, then they could be best buddies.
Both were too good for my liking.
"He gave the ring to Dean."
"Good. So what did he ask for?" he questioned, moving towards the table where his all too favorite liquor was placed. He poured himself one and like always one for me that I never took. He raised his eyebrows at me when I accepted his offer for a shot, for the first time. We were in some warehouse, which looked quite better inside than what it looked from outside.
"He wants Sam to jump."
"Feel sorry for Moose," he shook his head. "But what you gotta do is, you gotta do. Every war has sacrifices."
I scoffed and took a big gulp, the whisky burning my throat lessened the tension I felt.
"I have never met a demon like you," I said, my lips lifting up.
"Don't say you are hitting on me?" he questioned cheekily and I laughed.
"No, it is true. You are better than other demons," I turned and looked at Crowley. "You would make a better King. You know how to run things. Just don't let it go to your head."
"Why do I feel like this is some goodbye?" A frown formed on his face, like my words really disturbed him.
"Like you said, there are always sacrifices in the war."
"What did you promise?"
But I was gone before he could say another word.
When I saw Winchester again, I could feel the darkness inside Sam. The demon blood pumping in his veins, the energy juice he was filled with made him powerful. It was dark but power was power.
The building was filled with demons, they weren't there to stop us. Lucifer wanted to show the power he had and he wanted to test Sam. To check if Sam was strong enough to beat his army, the army my brother was too happy to sacrifice. It almost made me chuckle.
"We are here, you son of bitches! Come and get it."
I watched as two demons took Dean and Sam inside and then pulled out the angel blade and moved towards the building.
"Where are you going?" Castiel asked, his head tilted in confusion.
"I am gate crashing the party," I smirked at him.
"But..."
"I have to make sure Sam jumps in," I sighed on seeing the sad look on his face. He nodded and I looked away to Bobby who was giving me the stink eye.
It was easy to kill demons but it meant Lucifer knew I was coming. I waited outside for Sam to show his work, which he did with a blink of an eye and for him to say yes.
Only then I could attack, the time when Lucifer would be unconscious when Sam would say yes. I waited for the bright light and attacked when I saw it.
Killing demons without any thought and moved towards the third floor where I found Lucifer in Sam's body taunting Dean.
"I was just messing with you. Sammy's long gone."
Lucifer faced towards the cage entrance which was like a black hole, and started chanting.
"Ta hi dera-"
I moved forward trying to take him off guard but my brother just moved and turned around attacking me. I missed and turned around using my all force to try to push him towards the cage but it didn't work. I felt his hands grip my right hand trying to take the blade but I smashed it in his face.
"Selaphiel, nice to see you again, hope you aren't missing Gabriel much. By the way, nice move but not good enough."
I thrust the blade in my hand to attack again but this time he got the upper hand, and pulled my left hand behind my back, the blade falling from my hand as I felt the snapping scrunch of the bones breaking. It pained, hurt a lot and I thought of smashing my head on his forehead when he turned us around, taking me off guard. I was facing towards the opening of the cage and could feel the pull, the suction.
Just one shove and I would be thrown inside.
"You little monsters forget that I am the one who taught you how to fight."
This was it. The cage which had stopped Lucifer for years was going to be my home now. I couldn't do anything; the effort to stop Lucifer, to avenge Gabriel was for nothing.
"You shouldn't have come here."
He tusked, shaking his head at me. "You don't think I would know what you were here for. C'mon Selaphiel, I am not an idiot. You and I both know Death wouldn't give his ring just like that."
The coldness that I felt being so close to Lucifer and my death was hard. I felt breathless, if I had been a human I was sure I would have died.
"I am happy to see how much dedicated are you, sister. Just to kill me, to destroy me and save your loving and pathetic humans, you promised Death himself to jump in the cage."
My heart stopped. He knew… God, he knew.
"Really, are you willing to spend your eternity with me? C'mon, even if you would have succeeded in throwing me inside, you didn't think I would leave you alone," he hissed in my ears, I felt threatened for the first time in my life. Like this time he could kill me and there would be no hesitation in his actions. "Believe me when I say this, I would have made you regret that you were even born. Michael would be a newbie in comparison to the torture I would do to you. I would have spent the time pouring out my frustration, my anger on you."
I looked into his eyes, the eyes that were going to watch as I would be killed. There was smirk on his face, a satisfaction but a hesitation. The delay was killing me.
Let it end now.
"But….." he shook his head and then questioned me."Do you remember the promise I made you, Selaphiel. I promised you that I would be the one standing in front of you to protect you from anything, even from yourself. Well, this is me saving you, little sister."
The chanting uttered from his mouth made me freeze. He wasn't…. I wasn't going to be thrown inside the cage.
The hole was gone, back to normal. Lucifer pushed me towards the ground and I braced myself for the impact and watched as he picked up the rings and played with them.
"I told you this would always happen in Detroit."
And then he was gone.
Dean looked at me, he looked so helpless and I realized we failed. We had just failed to stop him and now Lucifer had his true vessel and he was going to defeat Michael.
Dean was pacing in concern, he was clutching on the hope that they might be some way, any way to stop them and get Sam back.
"How do we stop this, Cas?"
"Stop what?" Castiel was utterly hopeless and it showed in his expression. He looked at Dean and shook his head. "It's over, Dean."
"It's not over until I say it's over!" Dean yelled out, his hands shook uncontrollably at his sides and clenched them into fists.
Castiel looked at Dean as if he had gone mad. "We don't stop it, Dean. Lucifer will meet Michael on the chosen field and the battle of Armageddon will begin."
His words broke the hope that was bubbling in Bobby's heart. Dean could tell he agreed with Castiel but he wasn't convinced.
"Okay, where is this chosen field?" Dean demanded, angry about Cas, just sitting there, giving up, accepting it all.
"Even if I knew, Dean—" Cas started heavily.
"Well there's got to be something that we can do." Dean said.
"I'm sorry Dean. This is over."
This was the wrong to say to Dean.
Dean was almost on the verge of breaking down and crying and it translated into an angry, overbearing near-shout. "You listen to me, you junkless sissy, we are not giving up!"
"Bobby?" Dean looked at the older hunter who looked still in shock. He believed that this was going to end. "Bobby?"
"There was never much hope to begin with. I don't know what else to do."
Dean felt like crying, he had lost his brother but he wasn't going to just give up. He can't.
He looked at the archangel leaning on the wall on the corner, looking in the distant. He had never seen her like this, so helpless, so scared. He might have never liked her but he didn't like this girl – the helpless angel.
"What about you?" Dean questioned her, she didn't move. He wasn't sure if she heard him. "Do you think this is going to end?"
She remained silent, just looked at him. Dean took a deep breath when he met her eyes. Those eyes that usually shone with anger, happiness, any emotion, were off. She looked scared like a little girl.
Dean didn't want to do this but he needed help. "Are you going to just sit there and let this happen? Let your brothers fight and kill each other."
"Dean."
Dean stopped for a second when he heard the defeated sigh coming out of her. His name which usually was said in a taunting way or said harshly, felt dull. She sounded drained of any energy.
"Are you giving up? Tell me, are you admitting your defeat even after you were willing to jump in that cage. I heard him, you promised Death that you will lock him the cage. Are you backing out?" Dean asked, his hands clutching his hair tightly.
"I tried Dean. I did. But I couldn't….. I couldn't stop him Dean. I lost my chance. This is over."
"No, its not. The fight hasn't happened yet and I am not going to sit here and let it all end." Dean said looking at the archangel. Her eyes were shining with tears, the one she wasn't shedding.
"Dean." Bobby called him. "What do you mean? Tell me you are not going to do something stupid." Bobby scrunched his eyes at Dean's face. "You got that look."
"I just wanna talk to Sam."
"You just don't give it up." Bobby shook his head.
"It's Sam!" Dean took a deep breath.
"If you couldn't reach him here, you certainly not gonna be able to on the battlefield." Castiel said, the sadness in his eyes telling the words that he didn't want to say out loud.
"Well if we have already lost, I guess I got nothing to lose, right?" Dean shook his head.
"I just want you to understand . . . The only thing you're gonna see out there is Michael killing you brother." Castiel said it out loud.
"Well, then I ain't gonna let him die alone." Dean said.
There was a big silence. No one said anything.
"I'm gonna ask Chuck where it is happening. He would know about it."
Dean left to talk Chuck. Castiel sighed and looked at Bobby who just nodded his head.
"Stull Cemetery, Lawrence. Tomorrow at noon."
Bobby's head snapped to the archangel and he watched as she stood up. She dusted her clothes and came to stand beside Castiel who looked at her with wide eyes.
"You are not planning to go there."
She laughed a laugh that Bobby had never heard from her mouth. The painful and sad laugh that Dean gave whenever something bad happened. This just made him realize how much this angel had suffered. A girl who didn't look more than mid twenties had seen it all and was hurting so much.
"Castiel, don't change. Ever."
She gave him a smile that was genuine. Bobby knew that out of them all the blue eyed angel was the only one Selaphiel really cared about.
Dean came back, stashing his phone back in the jacket. "It's happening tomorrow."
"Looks like I am going to a family reunion."
The end of the Earth had come, it wouldn't be the first time my brothers were going to destroy everything to just fight each other.
When I reached my brothers were fighting like always.
"What if it's not my fault." Lucifer was saying to Michael. It almost made me chuckle. It felt weird watching Sam, doing the expressions that were my brother's.
"What is that supposed to mean?" Michael asked.
"Think about it. Dad made everything. Which means he made me who I am. God wanted the devil." Lucifer was trying to convince Michael not to fight.
"So?" Michael asked flatly.
"So why? And why make us fight? I just can't figure out the point."
"What's your point?" Michael seemed a bit reluctant too.
"We're going to kill each other. And for what? One of dad's tests, to which we don't even know the answer. We're brothers. Let's just walk off the chess board."
"Sorry I can't do that. I am a good son and I have my orders." Michael shook his head and gave Lucifer a disappointed look.
This made me laugh and I did. It gained my brothers attention.
"Sorry." I chuckled. "But those words. Are you serious, Lucifer? We're brothers."I spat out the word harshly." Those words don't hold that much value after what you did to Gabriel. He was your brother too, remember."
"Selaphiel." It was Michael who said my name. "You're alive."
"Hello brother, long time no see," I shrugged. "Had to fake my death. You wouldn't just leave me alone. You gave orders, right? Remember."
"I am very disappointed that I wasn't invited to the family reunion."
Lucifer sighed shaking his head.
"I gave you chances after chances but you just don't give up, Selaphiel. I thought after last time you would be cowering in a corner somewhere." Lucifer smirked.
"Well looks like this girl got thick skin." I commented and rolled my eyes."C'mon don't expect me to follow your order. You don't and that's what you're asking Michael here, right?"
"What, you want me to rebel?" Michael asked Lucifer who nodded. "Now! I'm not like you. Either of you."
"Please Michael…"
"You know you haven't changed a bit, little brother. Always blaming everybody but yourself. We were together. We were happy. But you betrayed me, all of us… and you made our father leave."
"What?" I exclaimed after hearing his words. "Michael!" I looked at him. "You thought Lucifer made him leave, you believed that he did that. Then why?" I took steps forward towards my elder brother. "Why blame me? Why hunt me down?"
"I helped you to stop him. I fought against my own brother and you just declared that it was my fault and ordered to torture me even though you knew it wasn't my fault. Why? Why did you do that to me?"
"Because it was your fault. It was you that was so happy that father made these humans, that he loved them so much. It was your fault. I won't be surprised if someone told me it was your idea to make these humans. " Michael scowled at me.
"Who?" I asked.
"What?" Michael faked being innocent.
"Who told you it was me that gave father the idea of humans. Who gave you this lie? This was it, wasn't it? This is the reason you believed I was wrong." I shook my head. "You thought I made him leave."
"No one makes dad do anything. He did that to us. He is doing this to us." Lucifer yelled at Michael.
"You are a monster, Lucifer. And I have to kill you."
It was the wrong thing to say, even I felt little angry at that. Lucifer's face hardened and his eyes truned cold.
"If this is the way its gotta be, then I like to see you try."
Michael nodded and glanced at me.
"But first I have a small work to do. You shouldn't have come here, Selaphiel."
Michael moved towards me, bringing out the archangel blade. This was Michael's blade. I prepared myself to fight, to get ready for the action but something stopped him.
Lucifer stood between Michael and me.
"I am not letting you kill her. You know it's my fault. Don't drag her in between this." Lucifer warned him.
"Lucifer get out of the way. She has to die." Michael ordered.
"This is righteous Michael who wants to kill his sister for fun of it. Wow you don't need to fall, you are already worse than that." I hissed at him.
Before anyone could say something more, I heard the rumbling of the engine of a car, the car I knew and then the song started playing.
Gunter gleiben glauchen globen
All right
I got something to say
Yeah, its better to burn out
Yeah, than fade way
All right
Oh!
I watched as the impala entered the cemetery and drove up the unused cemetery path and stopped just few steps before us.
"Howdy, boys."
It was the first time I watched Dean Winchester's style. It was stupid but boy, was he the daredevil.
"Sorry, am I interrupting something?"
"We need to talk," Dean spoke, putting on his serious face and sounding very confident. His eyes flickered to mine but then settled on Lucifer who was riding his brother, strangely he didn't look any different.
Lucifer looked at Michael and I and then smirked. "Dean, ever for you, this is a whole new mountain of stupid."
"I'm not talking to you," Dean replied coldly, "I'm talking to Sam."
"You're no longer the vessel, Dean," Michael stepped forward, his face foul. "You got no right to be here." He looked at me. "Even you."
"Adam if you're in there somewhere, I am so sorry," Dean apologized, talking to the brother, not the angel.
"Adam isn't home right now," Michael said without any emotion on his face.
"Well than you're next on my list, buttercup," Dean informed him. I couldn't hold it, I snickered. Dean's eyes met mine and I nodded."But I need five minutes with him."
"You little maggot!" Michael snapped. He began to advance on Dean. "You are no longer a part of this story."
"HEY ASS-BUTT!" Castiel yelled when he and Bobby appeared a little to the left of Dean and I. The angel was holding a bottle of flaming oil-a Molotov cocktail. Castiel threw the bottle of flaming holy oil at Michael.
I raised an eyebrow as my angel brother went up in flames. This was bad but it would get Dean his time. But Lucifer wouldn't be too happy.
"Ass-butt?" Dean quoted, staring at Castiel.
"He'll be back and upset," Castiel answered. "But you've got your five minutes."
Lucifer glared at Castiel, giving him his venomous stare. "Castiel, did you just Molotov my brother with holy fire?"
"Uh-no," Castiel replied taking a step backwards, suddenly aware of what he just did. I felt my stomach drop when I saw the face of Lucifer. He looked dangerous.
"Lucifer, No-"
"No one dicks with Michael but me," Lucifer growled. He clicked his fingers and before I could do anything, Castiel exploded in a rain of blood and chunks of flesh.
"No! Castiel-" I went to attack Lucifer but Dean stood before me, giving me a hard stare.
"Sammy can you hear me?" Dean asked gathering his all strength.
"You know…" Lucifer sighed and marched towards Dean, "I tried to be nice… for Sammy's sake. But you are such a pain in my ass." He grabbed Dean and threw him into the windshield of the impala.
I took out my angel blade and went to attack but saw a bullet shot deep inside Lucifer's chest. Bobby had pulled the Colt out from underneath his flannel shirt and shot at Lucifer.
Lucifer stopped and turned to Bobby who fired at him again. With a twisting motion, Lucifer snapped Bobby's neck.
"Noo!" Dean shouted and tried to stand up and couldn't and groaned.
"Yes!" He grabbed Dean's leg and punched him hard. Before he could beat him more, I pulled at his shoulder and pulled him away. I wasn't strong enough but I could help Dean.
"Sam!" I called.
Lucifer laughed. "Really you believe this too. That Sam Winchester, a pathetic human could overpower me. I am disappointed that you doubt my strength sister."
"Sam, I know you can do this. I had my doubts before, but you are stronger. You are not just human; you are a human who has a family, a family that is willing die for you. You have people who love you. You have their strength with you. Fight him Sam, defeat him." I said to him.
Lucifer stopped for a second but then shook his head. "I didn't kill you because you were my sister. Sister that I cared about. But you know what?"
He waved his hand and I felt the power he had gained after getting his true vessel. I fell down on the ground, the blade leaving my hand. Lucifer picked it up and chuckled. He came towards me and picked me up and turned me around. His hands were on my neck, gripping it tightly, the blade in his hand touching the other side of the neck.
"Humans, it's always been them for you. You never cared much about me. You think they are better than us. Humans are better than angels." I heard him chuckle as his grip tightened more around my neck.
"I hope you have a nice and peaceful new life." I felt the slash of the blade around my neck.
The pain of cut wasn't much as compared to the feeling of the energy being drained out of me. The light coming out my neck, my grace as it poured out of my body into Lucifer's mouth.
My eyes met the dark ones of Sam and before I could say something, I blacked out.
A/n: Well, this was it. Season 5.
I had thought of so many situations in my mind and had to think a lot of it. At last chose this one. You guys might have noticed I haven't told which actress should portray Selaphiel. Well you would know it in the next chapter. I hope to surprise you guys.
By the way, Happy new year. I had an exam on 1st so... not a good one. But hope yours was better.
~Time to answer the reviews:
wolfenergy17: Thanks for the compliment. I am happy that you liked the character. Believe me it was difficult to write. I might have frustrated my roommate by talking her ears out about it being hard and all. Sera being a sacrifice, was a point I wanted to show. That she was ready to sacrifice herself, if it meant Lucifer would be in cage. I hope you liked this chapter.
Princess Aziza: Well I hope you got your answer about the feeling. I think Gabriel was an archangel, so it would be someone powerful, a high ranked reaper who would reap him. Death or maybe Tessa. I am happy that you think Jensen's not leaving, my friend told me that and I was really worried about it. The 'fanfiction; episode was awesome and so was the mid season finale. I really hope Dean doesn't become demon again or if he does then they better find something to heal him. AND Supernatural has been renewed for Season 11. Yay! I am really waiting for 20th. Hope Charlie's in it.
Dragonblaze66: Um. That was chapter 6. and this is 7th. Its okay. Hope you liked it.
