It was a beautiful, sunny day in Vale. People were preparing for the upcoming Vytal festival by hanging up posters and balloons to greet guests from other cities. Team KRWBBY wondered around the city checking out all the effort people had put into the festival.
"The Vytal festival, this is absolutely wonderful," Weiss beamed a smile across her face.
"I don't think I've ever seen you smile this much Weiss," Bart commented. "It's actually kinda creepy."
"How can you not smile, a festival dedicated to the cultures of the World. There will be dances, parades, a tournament. Oh the amount of planning and preparation that goes into this is simply magnificent," she responded ignoring his last comment.
"Wow, you really know how make a good thing sound boring," Yang remarked.
"Quite you," Weiss snapped back as they reached the docks.
"Remind me again why we're spending our Friday afternoon at the docks?" Bart asked.
"Ooohhh, it smells like fish," Ruby complained as she squeezed her nose together.
"Hey, after nearly dying the smell of fish isn't all that bad," Yang told her sister. A silence grew over the team when they remembered Yang's near death experience.
"We came here because I heard that students visiting from Vacuo were arriving by ship today and as a representative of Beacon I feel as though it is my solemn duty to welcome them to this fine kingdom." Weiss explained her reasons for wanting to come here.
"She wants to spy on them so she has the upper hand in the tournament," Blake revealed.
"You can't prove that," Weiss snapped back crossing her arms and giving Blake a hard glare.
"Wow, check that out," Ruby told the others as they looked at where she was pointing. A dust store had been robbed. A pang of guilt struck Clark, he was on patrol in metropolis last night. If he was in Vale perhaps he could have stopped the robbery. They walked up to the police tape blocking them out of the crime scene.
"What happened?" Ruby asked one of the police officers investigating the crime scene.
"Dust robbery, they've been happening all over Vale," the police officer informed them.
"Was anyone hurt?" Clark asked. Clark couldn't bare the thought anyone being injured or worse when he could have stopped it.
"Luckily no one was hurt," the officer answered much to Clark's relief. The police officer moved over to another officer. "Who needs all that dust?" he asked his friend.
"An army," the second police officer answered.
"You thinking the White Fang?" The first police officer asked.
"I'm thinking we don't get paid enough." The second officer responded.
"The White Fang, what an awful bunch of degenerates," Weiss commented. Blake turned to her rather annoyed at what Weiss had said.
"What's your problem?" She asked.
"My problem?!" Weiss began, "is that I simply don't care for the criminally insane."
"The White Fang is hardly a bunch of psychopaths. There a collection of misguided Faunus." Blake snapped back getting angrier by the second.
"Did you say misguided?" Weiss asked in disbelief. "They want to wipe humanity off the face of the planet."
"Then they're very misguided," Blake responded. "Either way, it doesn't explain why they would rob a dust store in the middle of down town Vale."
"Blake has a point," Ruby decided. "They never did find that Torchwick guy I ran into a few months ago, maybe it was him." She suggested.
"That still doesn't change the fact that the White Fang are a bunch of scum," Weiss stated in a superior tone. "Those Faunus only know how to lie, cheat and steal." A hateful expression spread across Blake's face when she heard that.
"Not all Faunus are bad," Clark added his opinion. Right after he said that a man in the distance yeld out.
"Hey! Stop that Faunus!"
The team turned back to the docks to see two men chasing a third along the side of a boat. When the third reached the end of the boat he dived off without hesitation and landed in the water. Much to the teams amazement the man moved incredibly fast under the water until he got to the docks where he climbed out. He was tall, well built with short blonde hair. The most noticeable feature about him was the patches of scales he had that covered his arms and body. He wore green board shorts, an orange singlet and pair of green runners. Other then that he only had an orange and black back pack. He raced up the stairs and started heading towards team KRWBBY.
"Stop!" The police officers from earlier yelled as they raced after him.
"Shoot," was all The Faunus said before racing off down the street, easily out running two officers. When he ran past Blake, to her surprise, he gave her a quick wink before continuing to run.
"Well Weiss, you wanted to check out the competition," Bart reminded. "Well there it goes."
"Quickly, after him!" Weiss commanded as she began to chase the Faunus, the rest of the team right behind her. Of course Bart and Clark could easily catch up but didn't want to give away their secrets. As the team turned a corner Weiss ran into someone causing both of them to collapse on the ground. The person she had hit was an African American male, he was well built but not as big as Clark. He was wearing a white shirt, yellow jumper and long black pants. He picked himself up and offered a hand to Weiss who was still on the ground. She took his hand and he helped her up.
"Sorry for running into you?" Weiss apologised.
"No problem, it was just an accident." The guy shrugged if off. He held his hand out to Weiss.
"The names Victor, Victor Stone," he introduced himself. Weiss took his hand and shook it.
"I'm Weiss Schnee," she replied. "And this is the rest of my team. Bart, Ruby, Yang, Blake and Clark." She introduced the rest of her friends. The others all greeted Victor and shook his hand.
"So Victor what have you been up to," Clark asked, being his usual friendly, polite self.
"Oh not much ," Victor responded. "I just arrived in Vale today. I come from Vacuo," He explained.
"What brings you to Vale?" Bart asked as he munched on a banana that he seemed to have stashed away.
"I'm here to fight in the tournament," Victor responded.
"Cool, maybe we'll get to see you smash Weiss in a fight," Bart wished. They all laughed, Weiss being the exception.
"How about we show you around Vale?" Clark offered.
"That'd be awesome," Victor replied as they began to walk down the street. Suddenly an idea hit Weiss.
"If you just arrived does that mean you know that scaly rapscallion Faunus?" She asked Victor.
"Ahh, who?" Victor asked, taken aback by the words Weiss had used.
Weiss opened her mouth to explain when Blake finally lost her temper.
"Stop calling him that!" She demanded of Weiss. "Stop calling him a rapscallion, stop calling him names! He's a person!"
"Oh I'm sorry," Weiss replied sarcastically. "Would you like me to stop refereeing to the trash can as a trash can, or the lamp post as a lamp post?" She asked Blake.
"Stop that!" Blake demanded.
"Stop what?!" Weiss replied. "He clearly broke the law. Give him enough time and I'm sure he'll end up with those other Faunus in the White Fang."
"You ignorant little brat!" Blake screamed and began to march of towards home.
"How dare you talk to me like that, I am your team mate!" Weiss yelled out to Blake as she raced after her.
"You are an careless little girl," Blake responded. As the two argued Victor turned to the other four members of the team.
"Are things always like this?" he asked.
"Not usually," Yang responded. Weiss and Blake continued to argue as they made their way back to Beacon.
"You know Vic, we would completely understand if you wanted to leave," Bart told their new friend.
"It's cool, he replied. Me and my sister always got into arguments." Victor replied. Clark found it a bit strange how Victor used past tense, then again maybe him and his sister just don't have arguments anymore. They made their way back to Beacon, Weiss and Blake continuing to argue the whole time.
They continued to argue when they entered their room increasing the awkward level for everyone else. Eventually the rest of the group had enough and attempted to stop the argument, when that didn't work they decided to leave the two and get something to eat. An hour later they said good bye to Victor and after swapping phone numbers headed back to their room to find Blake and Weiss still arguing. Clark was about to step in-between the two when Weiss yelled, "I'm a victim!" This caused everyone to stop and stare at her. "You wanna know why I despise the White Fang so much?" she asked Blake. "Why I don't particularly trust the Faunus?" She continued. "It's because they've been at war with my family for years. As in actual bloodshed. My grandfathers company has had a target painted on its back for as long as I can remember. And ever since I was a child I've watched family friends, board members just disappear. An entire train cart full of dust stolen. And everyday my father would come home furious, which made for a very difficult childhood."
"Weiss..." Ruby began as she put a hand on her friends shoulder but Weiss shook off her hand and interrupted.
"No! You want to know why I despise the White Fang?" Before anyone could answer she continued. "It's because they're a bunch of liars, cheats and murderers!"
"Well maybe we were just tired of being pushed around!" Blake yelled back at Weiss. She froze when she realised the slip up she had made. So did everyone else. Without another word Blake raced out of the room. Clark was about to chase after her when his super hearing picked up on a mugging going on across town. He desperately wanted to go after Blake but if someone's life was in danger that would have to come first. The rest of the team were all to stunned to do anything.
Blake continued to run until she reached the school fountain. She looked up at the statue of a human standing on top of a Beowolf. She sighed as she slowly untied the bow she always wore. She held the bow in her hands revealing a pair of purple cat ears.
"I knew you'd look better without bow," a voice from behind her called out.
The two days later Clark woke up and was disappointed to see that Blake still hadn't returned. An hour later the team found themselves walking the city streets.
"She's been gone all weekend," Ruby noted.
"Blake's a big girl, she can take care of herself," Weiss replied sounding as though she couldn't care less where Blake was.
"Weiss come on, she's one of our teammates," Clark argued.
"Is she?" Weiss asked. "We all heard what she said."
"Maybe she is, maybe she isn't. We still have to find her," Clark replied.
Whilst this was going on Blake sat at a coffee shop sipping on a warm cup of coffee. Sitting across from her was the Faunus who had stowed away on the ship the other day.
"So, you want to know more about me?" she asked.
