Ciel POV
I felt like there was more to Lelouch's story than he was letting on, but the prospect of a chess match was too good to pass up. Perhaps I could learn more about him and his butler, Lucas.
"I'll take black, if you don't mind," I stated, unhappy with what I had dug up on Lelouch so far.
"Lucas, fetch the chess board," Lelouch called to his butler.
"Yes, master," Lucas left the room.
An uncomfortable silence overtook the room as we waited for Lucas to return.
"Master?" A knock on the door awoke us from our thoughts.
"Come in Lucas," The servant began to set up the chess board.
"Then I believe I start," Lelouch moved a pawn up two spaces.
"Indeed," I simply replied, lost in thoughts about how to play the game. I moved. Small conversation continued as we played. The game progressed rather rapidly.
"I am intrigued by what your next move will be," I smirked, I had examined all of my options, Lelouch couldn't move, and checkmate would be upon him in a handful of moves.
"I wouldn't be so sure," Lelouch moved a bishop that I had thought to be trapped across the board, exposing his queen and efficiently pinning me in checkmate.
"Checkmate."
"How?" I started, shocked by the simplistic move I hadn't seen.
"Brother has yet to be beaten," Rolo stated from his position behind Lelouch, obviously proud of his older brother.
I narrowed my eyes at the smirking chess master, "I believe that I shall take my leave, Sebastian! Ready the carriage."
"Yes young master," Sebastian left.
"Thank you for the game, Earl Phantomhive," Lelouch held out his hand for me to shake.
I shook it to try to calm myself down, "Thank you also." I spoke through gritted teeth.
"Until next time Earl," Lelouch bid me goodbye as I left the mansion.
"Insufferable brat," I complained to Sebastian on the way back to the Phantomhive mansion.
"He is very odd," Sebastian remarked.
"Who does he think he is?"
"Calm down young master, he did win the game fairly."
"I know," My desire to find out who Lelouch was and to bring him down from his high and mighty position grew stronger.
"Sebastian, double your efforts to find out about Lelouch. Lelouch you don't know what your dealing with. The Queen's guard dog has a terrible bite," Not only had he damaged my position with the queen, but he had also dealt a blow to my pride.
"Young master, I hope you know what you're doing," Sebastian muttered.
