Hey everyone!
I'm sorry this chapter is so short, I just wanted to get an update to you!
I think I might be back in the groove with this story, so I'll get another chapter to you shortly! (But it won't be short! ;) )
Please enjoy, and as always, feel free to review, follow, & fav!
Love you all!
(And with that Thor fanfic that I mentioned in the update, I'm thinking within two weeks for sure, I'll have the first chapter posted!)
With Link's newfound companion Fi, and equipment gifted by Kaeru, he ran as fast as he could through the Castle Town. He had no interest in milling about, even if it was his first time seeing the town. He wanted to reach that Portal as soon as he could. He hoped he would meet no trouble on the way. He glanced up at the sky, the light-spire towering into the clouds. How far away was that thing, though?
Link prayed that Zelda was all right… Alive she may be, but not necessarily safe. He gritted his teeth and pushed himself harder, making people scatter before him or risk being trampled. He would not stop for anyone; he was on a mission and no one could stop him.
He soon reached the castle gates and the guards let him through without question. Link found himself standing on a bridge that led to a field. During the ride to Lanayru Province from Faron Province, Link had been in a dark carriage that the light couldn't even infiltrate. He had had no idea where he was or what they were travelling through. So now, seeing it for the first time, Link felt speechless. With the early morning light shining across the sky, the field on the other side of the bridge looked beautiful. He slowly walked across the bridge, taking in the sight of the land of Hyrule for what felt like the first time. How much more was there to see of this beautiful world?
He shook those petty thoughts from his mind and ran across the bridge and into the open field. Large cliffs surrounded this section of the field. He knew he was on the east-side of Castle Town and the light-spire appeared to be even further east. Link followed the path that the two cliff sides made, leading towards the east, or so he hoped.
Link began to wonder why he hadn't planned this better. Perhaps he would have thought to use one of the castle's horses, but no, Link had run from that castle right away. Zelda had been the only thing on his mind, which he now realized, had been stupid. He was stuck with nothing but his feet to carry him and he was beginning to grow weary already.
He felt a pulse from his sword and then Fi appeared before him as he stepped onto the path between the two cliffs.
"Master, I have detected your stamina has dropped sufficiently," Fi stated.
"I know, but there's no other way to get to Zelda and I need to get to her. I can't just merrily walk along!" Link said.
"I suggest you visit the castle's stables before you venture too far."
"It's too late for that now, Fi!" Link snapped. Fi remained silent. Link knew she was right but he couldn't help but notice she remained unchanged by his outburst, like she really was emotionless. Link realized he didn't want the company of an emotionless companion. Of course he wouldn't ask Fi to leave, but maybe he could teach her to be more human. Link knew the Master Sword was his, so he might as well get used to Fi's presence. "Sorry…" Link mumbled as he continued walking, Fi floating along behind him.
"Since my first suggestion would deter you from your mission, I suggest you find the nearest stables and pay for a horse," Fi dismissed as she became one with the Master Sword again. Link nodded and quickened his pace.
Despite his tired muscles, Link began to run again. The path between the cliffs began to curve slowly towards the south. Again, Link hoped that he had taken the correct path. The path straightened out and Link stayed on it for five more minutes before it angled sharply, going directly south. The light-spire looked a tad closer so Link followed the southern path. He could see where the cliffs ended and opened out into more of Hyrule.
He allowed himself to take in the scenery. There was a large bridge and below it was a lake – the biggest lake Link had ever seen. Fi emerged from the sword once again.
"This is the Great Bridge of Hylia, allowing access across Lake Hylia, located in southern Lanayru Province in the north of Hyrule. I detect many life forms residing in the lake and beyond. The species known as Zora can be found here as well as to the east and north, where their domain is." Fi informed.
"Thank you, Fi," Link said as he walked towards the bridge. He looked down and tried not to get dizzy from the distance – or the grand expanse of the lake itself. He continued along the bridge, occasionally looking down to the lake below. He noticed in the center of the lake was a strange-looking house.
Suddenly, a roar reached Link's ears from the other side of the bridge. Link saw a goblin sort of creature riding a boar, and charging Link. Frantically, Link looked behind him. Even if he could outrun the bastard, he could still follow him off of the bridge, and without a horse, that would be futile. Link looked down to the lake below. Carefully, he hoisted himself up onto the ledge of the bridge.
Fi appeared, "Master, I detect a sixty-five percent chance that you will survive the fall."
"And what's the percentage of me surviving him?" Link asked, motioning his head to the charging goblin. Without waiting for an answer, Link leapt from the bridge.
