~Tenshi's POV~
We were waiting for Sasuke to show up, but oddly, he hasn't. He's always on time for something like this, I have a feeling my dad's tardiness is becoming contagious to Sasuke. I looked around more, but couldn't find him anywhere.
"What the heck is that guy doing? Is he planning not to come?" Shikamaru asked. I guess even he wants to see his fight.
"Confucius said 'the wise do not approach the dangerous'. A wise decision perhaps?" Shino asked. Naruto and I smirked.
"What are you talking about?" Naruto started.
"He's definitely going to come," I finished. With that we glared at Gaara. He looked in Gaara's eyes as he looked at me. There was sadness, I don't hate him; I'm just really disappointed in him for giving in to Shukaku. People started calling for Sasuke and asking when his match is going to start. I looked at Lord Hokage and activated my Taiingan. 'Lord Hokage, I know Sasuke will show, if you can then please push back his match, I have confidence that he will show,' I thought to him. He looked at me and nodded with a smile.
'Very well, we'll make an exception, Lord knows it's probably because of your father's tardiness,' he thought back to me. I giggled a little bit and nodded. Naruto looked at me confused along with the others.
"What's up, Tenshi?" He asked me. I smiled.
"Sasuke's match is going to be pushed back," I told them. They didn't believe me until Uncle Genma spoke up.
"Ladies and gentlemen, the contestant for the next match has not arrived yet, therefore, we will push this match back and begin the next one!" Uncle Genma announced. Everyone was shocked and looked at me, all I could do was smile and gave them a look that said 'I told you so'. Naruto gave me a confused look and I pointed to my eyes with made him nod.
"That means my match got closer!" Shikamaru yelled.
"And now, the next match, Kankuro and Shino Aburame! Come down!" Uncle Genma called out.
"…I forfeit," Kankuro told him. I raised an eyebrow, something is definitely going on, and Kankuro loves to show off, what changed? With that said, Temari took out her fan and rode down to the fighting grounds.
"Looks like your eager. Shikamaru! Get down here!" Uncle Genma called out. Shikamaru didn't move and Naruto pushed him.
"Alright! Shikamaru, go for it!" Naruto shouted. Shikamaru then fell to the ground. Temari and I cringed as he made it to the bottom. Shikamaru didn't move but instead glared at the sky and then looked at Temari.
"What? Are you going to give up?" Temari asked him. He didn't respond and Naruto shouted 'good luck' to him. "If you won't come, then I will!" Temari shouted. Uncle Genma said he hadn't start the match yet, but she didn't listen.
"Aw man, that girl is really revved up," Shikamaru said. He then took out kunai and as Temari attack he stuck the kunai in the wall and stood on them. Temari looked at him. "Ya know, I don't really want to fight and I don't care if I become a Chuunin or not, but I'm not going to lose to a girl," Shikamaru smirked with his hands in his pockets. "A guy shouldn't lose to a girl, so I guess I'll have to fight," he said to her. She smirked and used her fan again to see him gone. He's good at running.
"He's gonna lose," Kankuro smirked. I looked at him and smirked back while shaking my head.
"No, he's not. He's Shikamaru Nara. The Nara family are known for their excellent battle strategies, the only way he'll lose is if he forfeits, but knowing him, he'll want to show off a little bit before that can happen. You'll see what I mean later on," I said to him. He looked at me with shock. I rolled my eyes. "I've known Shikamaru since we started at the academy, of course I know about his clan and how he is," I said to him. I heard Ino cheering for him, he's got two great teammates up there. I knew Shikamaru was hiding in the trees coming up with ways to win the match. Temari then used her Wind Slash Jutsu on him, he then moved to the shadows and out of the sun…oh, Shikamaru, I know what you're doing. He started his Shadow Possession Jutsu, but Temari jumped out of range.
"It seems there is a limit to how much you can manipulate the shape of your shadow. No matter how much you change its shape, you can't make it bigger than the surface area that it covers, right?" Temari smirked.
"Haha, that's right," Shikamaru smirked. His shadow reach about fifteen meters and thirty-two centimeters. He looked up at the sky then looked won and placed the tips of this fingers and thumb together. He was working out a strategy, just like he would do for a shougi game, Uncle Asuma hasn't even beat him once at the game. Knowing Shikamaru, he is a total brainiac, a super genius with an I.Q. of two hundred. Temari saw him trying to concentrate.
"Looks like you're finally getting serious," Temari said. She used her fan again and he hid behind the tree. I knew what he was doing, I could see it with my Taiingan, but Temari thinks he was only running away. Soon a shadow started going after Temari and she jumped around.
"You saw it coming, not bad," Shikamaru said to her.
"So, that's what you were doing, waiting for the sun to go down, to increase the surface area of the arena shadow and your own shadow, because as the sun begins to set, the shadows become larger," Temari figured out. Kankuro looked at me with a glare.
"You knew what he was doing," he said to me. I nodded with a smirk.
"Like I said, I've known Shikamaru since we started at the academy, I may not be the greatest strategist compared to him, but I know what he'll do even if I see a little clue to his ideas," I said to him not taking my eyes off the match. Kankuro then freaked.
"Temari, heads up!" He shouted. She looked up and saw Shikamaru's shirt with a kunai in the sky. Shikamaru started going after her.
"I won't let you escape!" Shikamaru shouted. He had connected his shadow to the shadow if his shirt to make his shadow stretch more. Temari kept dodging it and smirked. "I can't believe she saw through that too," He murmured. Temari turned her fan upside down and shielded herself, but then she couldn't move and she dropped her fan causing me to smirk. Shikamaru, you never cease to amaze me. "Hehe, finally, my Shadow Possession Jutsu was successful," he smirked. Everyone was shocked, but I wasn't, I knew what he did. He had her look behind herself and she saw the hole that Naruto had created in his match.
"He used the hole you created to help with his shadow, making the shadow go to the hole Neji was in to go under her, making sure there was another hole that you made to get her when her fan was up, creating a shaded area," I said to Naruto. He grinned. Shikamaru started walking towards Temari which forced her to walk too. When he stopped, he raised his hand.
"That's enough, I forfeit," he said. Everyone, once again, was shocked but me. I knew he would do this! Uncle Genma smirked as I looked at Kankuro.
"I told you he had to show off first before he forfeited," I said to him.
"Winner! Temari!" Uncle Genma shouted. Naruto, Tamotsu, and I jumped down and met up with Shikamaru. Naruto started yelling at him as I high fived Shikamaru. I smiled at him.
"Let me guess, too much of a drag?" I asked him. He smirked and nodded.
"Definitely. I just wanted the next match to start," he said to me. I nodded and saw Naruto smile with a nod. That's when a tornado of leaves appeared. There then stood my dad and Sasuke. He was wearing a new outfit which caused me to blush. He looked even more handsome.
"Sorry we're late," Dad smiled.
"Your name?" Uncle Genma asked Sasuke with a smirk.
"Sasuke Uchiha," Sasuke told him. I've noticed how his bangs have grown a bit, it looked good. Sasuke then looked at Naruto. "From your excitement, you won the first round," he said to him. Naruto smirked.
"Of course," he replied which caused Sasuke to smirk back. Dad started talking to Uncle Genma and I walked up to Sasuke. I crossed my arms and glared sternly.
"What's the excuse?" I asked him. He flinched a bit.
"Your father wanted to be fashionably late," he told me. I nodded and smiled as I pulled him in for a kiss. Most people cheered and some didn't like it because they were jealous. "How was your match?" He asked me after we pulled apart.
"I won, but you missed my surprise," I said to him. He had his forehead against smile and gave me a smile.
"No doubt it was out of this world," he said to me. I couldn't help but blush as he chuckled. We then looked at Gaara.
"Don't lose to that guy," Naruto said.
"Yeah," Sasuke nodded.
"Kick his ass," I growled. Sasuke looked at me with worried eyes. I sighed. "He tried to kill Lee at the hospital. He then threatened to kill us if we got in the way," I said to him. His arms tightened around my waist and I could tell he was angry. He looked at Naruto for confirmation and he nodded.
"Sasuke, I want to fight you too," Naruto said to him. Sasuke nodded with a smirk. Gaara was called down and looked at Sasuke. I kissed him gentle yet passionately.
"For good luck, though you don't need it," I said to him with a smile. I then frowned and looked down. "Please be careful," I whispered. He used his pointer finger to lift my chin and gave me a sweet kiss.
"Don't worry, I'll be fine, and I'll win. Afterwards, you're telling me about your match," he said to me. I smiled.
"Why tell you when I can show you?" I said pointing to my eyes. He nodded with a smile. With that said, Naruto, Shikamaru, Tamotsu, and I made our way back to the waiting area. On our way, I got this cold feeling, I smelt blood. That's when we saw it, two grass ninja were dead, Gaara walked passed us as we were frozen. Seeing that blood reminded me of that night and Naruto saw that. He hugged me around my shoulders as I felt tears run down my cheeks. Shikamaru looked worried and held one of my hands in both of his.
"What's wrong with her?" Shikamaru asked Naruto. Naruto sighed.
"She's remembering when her village was slaughtered," Naruto told him. Shikamaru's hold on my hand tightened. I started to calm down and we made it to the waiting area. Shino saw me and frowned. He placed a comforting hand on my shoulder.
"Are you alright, Tenshi?" He asked me. I nodded numbly. Naruto and Shikamaru told him what happened and he looked at me. He then summoned a butterfly with white wings, there were silver and light blue designs on it. I held my hand out and it landed on my finger. I smiled a bit and looked at Shino.
"Thank you, Shino, it's beautiful," I said to him. He nodded at me with a small smile.
"We're a pack, right? You said so yourself, we stick together, no matter what," he said to me. I smiled more and hugged him. He hugged me back and we went to watching the match. I was starting to get worried, Tamotsu could see that, he stood on his hind legs and leaned on the railing with his front legs.
"He'll do fine, Tenshi, he's stronger than he looks," Tamotsu assured me. I looked at Tamotsu and nodded. Their match can finally start. I then felt a hand on my shoulder and turned around to see my dad. I glared at him and crossed my arms. He was laughing nervously while scratching the back of his head.
"Sasuke was almost disqualified, you better be ready for the consequences," I said to him. His eyes widened and he knew what I meant by consequences.
"You are not taking away my books," he said to me. I glared harder and he flinched.
"Yes I am, you're grounded from them for a week," I said to him. I took the gook out of his pouch and had Tamotsu get the others.
"You're grounding your own father?!" Dad asked me. I nodded while the others snickered at the sight. Tamotsu came back with a bag and held the book I had while I bit my thumb drawing blood. I drew a seal and did hand signs.
"Summoning Jutsu: Kouga (Yellow River)!" I shouted. Kouga, a medium sized brown wolf appeared. Kouga is Tamotsu's baby brother.
"Lady Tenshi! What's up?" He asked me. I handed him the bag of books.
"My dad's been grounded from these books for a week. I want you to take these back so he can't get them," I told him. Kouga nodded and grabbed the book bag.
"Of course, Lady Tenshi! See you soon," he said. He then puffed away and I looked at dad, who was staring in shock. Everyone was snickering at him. I then walked to the railing again and waited for the match to start. This is bound to be interesting.
