You'd Never Guess That Evil Would Win One Day
But They Won Our Hearts
~Jesse's P.O.V.~
-Three Years Later-
I shut the door to my house as I walked in. Groaning, I called to Benny, informing him I was home. He peeked out from around the wall and smiled.
"About time. I was getting worried."
"Hmm." I smirked and moved toward him, giving him a kiss. "So, I was thinking, it's nice out today. Do you want to go to the park?"
Benny's eyes lit up. "Ooh, sure. That sounds fun."
"Okay. I'll give you five minutes. Go get ready." I spanked him as he skipped off, causing a squeal.
~Ethan's P.O.V.~
"Ready to go?" I asked Ben as he entered the room.
"Not just yet . . ." He said, approaching. I waited for him to continue, but he then clasped his arms around my waist and kissed my mouth tenderly. "I need to recharge. My Lovin' Level's too low."
"Ben!" I scolded. "Not now. We gotta go. You promised." I said, but he smiled and kissed me again, before his lips did a quick dance across my face, kissing every feature he could. I shreiked and writhed to get out of his grip, laughing too loud. But I loved it. And he knew I loved it.
After a minute, he kissed my lips gently, then relented.
"Let's go, then."
"You sap." I breathed, my love for him coursing through my veins. With one arm wrapped around his waist and vise versa, we flashed to the park.
When we arrived, we found a private spot in some plush grass, and sat, just talking, always in contact. We held hands, then when they got sweaty he pulled me against him. Not long after, we just sat and enjoyed the nature, watching humans jog around us.
Soon, Ben licked his lips. I realized he hadn't fed in a while.
"You should go home and feed real fast." I whispered.
"I don't wanna leave you." He argued.
"If you don't, you'll cause a scene. I'll be fine for a few minutes."
" . . . Alright. I'll be back soon." He flashed off.
I stood up, thinking of a quick jog around the track, when my eyes caught on someone, and his eyes caught on me.
"Benny." I whispered.
I knew it was him. I didn't know how, but I knew.
I also didn't know how he was suddenly in front of me. But my feet were moving, so I guess we walked to each other. When he was in reach, we threw our arms around each other.
"Benny!" I cried out.
"Shh, it's okay. Oh, Ethan. . ." He spoke softly. "You're okay."
"Oh, shit, I missed you." I sobbed dryly.
"I missed you too. Oh, Ethan." He held me close, and we just stayed there for a while.
~Ben's P.O.V.~
When I got back, I spotted none other than Jesse, staring off to the distance.
"Jesse?"
He didn't answer, but I saw what he was staring at. Ethan found Benny.
"Are you even concerned?" I asked, becoming worried.
"Have some faith, Ben. They love us now." Jesse spoke softly. So much so it unnerved me.
"Okay . . ."
"I've been poking around his head. Observing. I know he loves you. And you are a complete sap." He continued.
I scowled to hide my embarrassment. "Yeah, well, whatever." I huffed.
"So, how do you hide it?"
"Hide what?" I asked, scowl lessening.
"Your true self." He looked at me pointedly.
"Oh. I . . . I don't. I can't, really." I breath. "Sometimes, I still get the withdraws."
Ethan knows I'm a copy. He knows I exist to do bad. To get Benny in trouble. It's literally in my veins. He sees me, every month or so, when I have a spell. He watches me, shake and tense, as I scream between my teeth, a selfish need pulsing through me. Hurt, hurt, hurt . . .
"When I need it, he gets out glass and phonebooks, and he brings me outside, and he tells me to break it, and rip them."
I remember as he reaches his hand out to pick me up off the floor, I try to push him away. Hurt, hurt, hurt . . . Pulsing, pounding, begging. I can't. I fight back. Not him.
"On days when it's not enough, I have to . . ." I grab my arm, bringing it close against me. Jesse glances over and gets the hint.
"How?"
"I enchant a blade." I explain.
"And he's okay with that?" Jesse questions.
I recall how I stumble to the bathroom, and feel his eyes on my back, knowing, concerned, desperate. His silence when I come out the next day, as if nothing happened.
"He knows I can't help it. It's like, the less blood in my system, the more the urge suppresses."
He nods. "I think we should all four talk. Just hang out for now, huh?"
"Yeah." I say, shaking off my guilt and dropping my arm.
We all talk about the last three years, then when the sun goes down, we promise to stay in touch, and to meet up next week, too. Right here.
And I have faith. That Ethan loves me. That he simply is over Benny that way. And I thank Jesse for assuring me.
END.
