He can't believe the contrast, how many times had he endured that Pierre and his master and now, honestly the American doesn't want to leave this small cottage or the charming girl that lives within. But if what she says is true he has too, it's his duty. "Can I call you Ceci?" Alfred asks after mulling over all she had to say.
After a moment she nods still half afraid of the two men now sitting in her living room. "Yes, Mr. Jones."
He chuckles, "Ceci, I already told you just call me Alfred."
Romano glares at him, "If this young lady wants to call you Mr. Jones let her call you Mr. Jones or so help me I will stick my foot up your ass." The last part is whispered coarsely so the young woman doesn't hear.
For some reason that only Alfred knows he finds it amusing, "Mr. Jones is just my father, but if you want you can call me it." He smiles sweetly trying to ease her fear. "So can you tell me about the others?"
She nods as she plays with a strand of golden hair, "Well Father designed them for well…the government. He won't tell me why but that they wouldn't hurt me." At this she looked down at her hands, "But I know they have hurt people…like you."
Patting his swollen stomach Alfred smiles, "It's nothing but a little water weight, nothing to serious." He smiles at he feels a kick below and quickly covers it with his other hand. "Louis thought he was being funny."
"He's a wicked man. He's cruel and heartless." She spats back before a light blush appears on her face, "I mean…I'm sorry."
"No need ta be."
"Yes don't worry Miss Cecilia." Romano smiles again as his little heart shaped curl bounces up and down as he speaks, "You don't have to be ashamed of speaking the truth."
"But can I ask, was he designed to be that way?"
"No, he wasn't, well at least I'm certain he wasn't. But something went wrong and Father had to leave me here and I haven't seen him since." Tears start to form at the corner of her eyes at the thought of Arthur. "Please help him."
Alfred nods as he stands up sensing that their time with the young girl is nearly up, "We will and when we meet again I'll take you home."
"You promise?" Her eyes light up instantly as Alfred opens the front door.
He chuckles looking back once at her, "A hero always keeps his promise sweetie. Have faith and we'll be back." With that the two walk in silence until they're out of earshot to the cottage, "Hmm…"
"Do you think she's real or like all the others?"
Alfred crosses his arms, "Not sure really but I think I'll name the 'kid' Major."
"Really!? That's what you think of now? The bastard can wait to be named, there are other things to think of now." Romano shakes his head as the other chuckles, "What are you laughing at?"
"What I'm laughing at is something Arthur's been trying to tell us." He smirks slightly as he whispers, "Louis hopes one of two things, one that this drives me crazy,"
"Or?"
"Or that I beg him to take it out but I think I'll just give birth to it instead."
Romano just stares at him, "You have lost your fucking mind haven't you?"
"Not quite but I think it's time we started messing with their heads don't you think?"
Now it clicks for the Romanite, "But if she's right,"
"Than this whole place might go boom? Honesty dude I'm willing to take that chance." As he says it the world around him changes back to their normal quarters, "Times up I guess." As he turns prepared to see Arthur he's surprised to see that the blonde man is not on his cot, "Art?" He calls out with slight concern.
"Dear god in Heaven…" Romano says as he slowly sinks to his knees seeing something in the corner, "The poor bastard…"
Alfred follows his gaze to see something that makes his heart stop, "No…" He mutters softly unable to say anything else as his eyes lock with the sunken dull jade ones. "No…Arthur…"
"May God have mercy on his soul…"
