Hey guys!

So I can finally update, cause I spent many hours typing this up on my little phone screen.

That's how much I love you guys lol.

Anyway, I hope you guys like it!

Also, keep in mind that I am not a law student. This chapter may not be entirely accurate, but let's just pretend it is ;)

Okay, thanks! :)

Elena felt nervous as she assessed the situation in front of her.

Kol sat in one steel chair, and Christian was in the one across from him.

The entire room was on edge and she knew it was only going to get worse, if she didn't do something to diffuse the tension.

"You're mother will be here soon, Kol," She reminded the boy, who was fidgeting in his seat.

He nodded, "Okay, but I still don't understand what happened."

Chris scoffed, "What's to understand? You tried to rape my girlfriend last night!"

"So you say," Kol shot, leaning toward Chris, "I don't remember any of that!"

"That's because you were drunk off your ass! I should just-"

"Enough!" Elena scolded, "Sheriff Forbes will be back soon, and Pastor Young and April will be on their way. We'll get this cleared up."

Kol huffed, but settled back into his seat.

Chris however grew confused, "I thought Dad went to get April?"

Elena nodded, "He went to talk to her and her father. I'm sure they'll be here shortly."

Chris scowled, "April didn't want her dad to get into this."

Elena shot him a look, "Chris, this is a serious situation. It involves us all, so yes, her father has to know. We're lucky Liz let your Dad go, instead of sending a deputy to explain."

Chris groaned, "You know he's just gonna lock her up now. I'll never get to see her because he'll be so sure the only way to protect her is to never let her around another person again!"

Elena shook her head, "Sweetheart, he has to know. I can't control how he parents, but we can't not tell him about this. Liz needs him here anyway. They aren't allowed to interrogate a minor without a parent present."

Chris shook his head, " April shouldn't be the one being interrogated, she didn't do anything wrong."

He threw an accusing glance at Kol.

Elena sighed.

They had been sitting in the interrogation room at the police station for the past 30 minutes, waiting for everyone to arrive so Liz could begin to figure out what to do. But of course since the situation involved a founding family member, the town's preacher, and another one of Mystic Fall's richest contributing families, discretion was being used on principle.

"We'll get this taken care of," she assured him.

Chris grumbled something, just as the door opened.

Esther Mikaelson walked in.

"Miss. Gilbert," she addressed, "Kol..."

Esther walked through the door, toward her son.

"I got a call saying you were brought in for questioning over an attempted rape...is it true?"

The boy shrugged, "I...I don't know, Mother. I can't remember."

Chris coughed disbelievingly, making Elena shoot him a glare.

"This is a serious matter, of course," Elena noted, "And I'm hoping we can get things resolved fairly."

Esther met her gaze, "As am I."

It took less than ten minutes for the sheriff to arrive, followed shortly by Damon, April, and the pastor.

Chris immediately rose to greet his girlfriend, though thankfully kept limited contact, with her dad watching everyone suspiciously.

But for once he was glaring at Kol, instead of Chris.

Everyone took a seat around the table in the room.

Liz took charge, "Alright. You all know why we are here. There are some pretty serious accusations being thrown around, and no one wants to see this get ugly."

She threw a warning glance at Chris, who was now holding April's hand.

"It won't have to get ugly," Chris reasoned, "As long as you tell us what you're gonna do about him."

"Chris," Damon's voice was a calm, but stern warning.

"It's fine," Liz allowed, "It's understandable that you're upset. Okay, so let's make sure I've got this straight. April, Kol attacked you last night, at the Fright Night attraction, in Grandville?"

April hesitated, looking briefly at her father, then nodded.

The sheriff turned to Kol, "And you don't remember anything of the attack?"

He was already shaking his head, "No ma'am."

"And why not?"

A light blush covered his cheeks, "I may have had a little too much to drink."

Esther let out a disapproving scoff, and Liz narrowed her eyes.

"Kol, you are 15 years old, any drinking at all is too much. Not only is it against the law, but as you can clearly see, it causes some serious lack of judgement."

He hung his head under her scolding, "Yes ma'am."

Liz turned to April, "Did anyone else witness the attack, Miss Young?"

April nodded, " Chris...And Tyler. They're the ones that pulled Kol off of me."

Liz looked at Chris, "I had draw up a report outside, but I also need to hear your account of what happened last night, Chris...then I'll decide if we need to bring in Mr. Lockwood as well."

Chris sighed, "It's exactly what she said, sheriff. I was told that Kol and April went on one of the trails, Tyler and I followed, and I heard April scream. They were a little ways off the path, Kol was on top of her, and I don't really think I need to go into detail about what he was trying to do."

Liz allowed that, and he continued, "So I pulled him off. Tyler took him to the ground and held him there while I checked on April. She was shaken up and wanted to leave so I walked her out of the field and back to the parking lot. I sent Jeremy back to help Tyler bring Kol to the car. They got into a different vehicle and that was that."

Liz turned back to Kol, who, to Elena's surprise, was pale, and looked to be on the verge of either crying or vomiting.

"You remember any of that?" She questioned.

Kol shook his head.

Esther spoke up then, "This is clearly a situation that got out of hand, Elizabeth. Kol was, yes, foolishly under the influence, but he's just a boy. Alcohol twisted his sense of morale and I don't think he should be held accountable for getting a little handsy. He will, however, be severely punished for his behaviour with the alcohol."

Mr. Young huffed, angrily, "I refuse to let your money, or your standing in this town allow you to sweep your son's behavior under the rug!"

Esther straightened, "By all means, we can involve the lawyers if you'd prefer to take that route. He made a mistake that anyone could have-"

"A mistake?!" Pastor Young interrupted, "A mistake would be wrecking a car, or failing an exam. Your son tried to rape my little girl! And he deserves to be punished for that!"

"So you'd have him labeled for the rest of his life over one wrong decision?" Esther huffed, "He was not in his right mind, and if this case is taken to court, I promise you that my DA will make sure the judge agrees with us."

"I don't think threats are going to help, Esther," Liz noted, "Let's all calm down."

Elena shook her head. Every parent had the right to be upset during something like this, but they weren't even considering the children.

Damon cleared his throat, "Maybe we should ask them what actions they believe are reasonable."

Elena blinked at him, surprised that he was following her thoughts.

"Alright," Liz motioned, "April, do you want to press charges?"

The girl stiffened a little, but Elena knew she'd say exactly what was on her mind.

She looked at Kol for a moment, before finally exhaling, "What do you remember from last night?"

He had a hard time meeting her eyes, but still answered, "It's all a little fuzzy. I remember going to the Haunted Houses. We bought our tickets. There was a blur of crap jumping around.

I think you and I went through one. I remember you and some mirrors. I remember getting sick, but to be honest, that's really it."

April gave a nod, "Well, you said some things last night. And I would really like to know if they are true."

He allowed her to finish, "You accused me of being a tease? Practically said that I wanted you to do that . You seemed angry, and jealous . And I need to know if that's how you really feel?"

Kol measured his answer, before meeting her gaze, "I'm sorry, April. I can't begin to tell you how sorry I am."

He turned, looking at Christian , "You too Chris. I never meant for that to happen. I'm not going to blame the alcohol, but you have to know I would have never done that if I'd been sober. And to answer your question, I do like you, April. Not necessarily like that, but you're gorgeous, smart, funny, and hell, maybe I was jealous. But it was never my intention to hurt you, you have to know that. And I am so, so sorry about last night . If I had known that that was going to happen I never would have...I wish I could change it, and I accept full responsibility and I'll take whatever punishment I need to."

He turned to Chris, "And I completely understand if you never want to talk to me again, man, but I hope that you can forgive me one day."

Elena watched as April and Chris's gazes met.

They seemed to share a private conversation, before Chris turned back to Kol.

"I can't let this go, Kol. Not any time soon, anyway...because drunk or not, I'm going to know that somewhere in you is the capability of hurting April, and that's not okay with me."

Kol nodded solemnly, and April turned to the sheriff, "I don't want to press charges."

The pastor flew into a rant then, "What are you saying, girl?! Of course we are pressing charges! He got drunk and tried to rape you! I'm not going to just let him-"

"Dad," April cut him off, "Please, just listen to me. This isn't about letting him off. This happened to me! And I think I should have a say in how it's handled."

Her father was still clearly upset, but he stopped arguing, as she continued, "If I pressed charges, it would go through court, right? And if we won, it would go on a permanent record?"

Liz nodded, "That's right."

April seemed decided, "Then let's not waste anyone's time."

She looked at Kol, "I believe you. I've known you for a while now, and you've never been that kind of guy. But it'll take a while for me to trust you again...And I don't want to be around you anymore than what's absolutely, publicly required."

Esther spoke up, "That sounds reasonable."

Kol nodded in agreement.

Liz took charge again.

"Are you sure, April?"

The girl nodded.

"Alright," Liz sighed, "Here's what's going to happen. Kol, You are not to be within 500 feet of April, with the exception of school necessities. I'm going to draw up an official restraining order, to make it a legal demand. Second, you will be fined and ordered to community service for your misdemeanor of underage drinking.

I'm also making it a requirement that you take four months of teen branched AA meetings in the town hall, three nights a week, after school. You are also ordered to attend mandatory counseling, once a month, until this time next year. Is that clear?"

Kol nodded, "It it's, sheriff."

"Good," Liz nodded, then turned to the other two, "Chris, you and I have had plenty of talks about your behavior. I haven't heard much about you lately though, and I want it to stay that way. No fighting. No getting even. Nothing."

"Okay," Chris muttered.

"I'm serious, Christian," Liz stated, "You're already two strikes up. Don't make me have to haul you in."

He nodded, looking a little more believable, "Yes, ma'am."

"Alright. That's everything then. Mrs. Mikaelson, Kol, I'll need you two to come with me and fill out some papers, but the rest of you are free to leave."

Everyone nodded, the room dispersing, as the parents stood.

Chris hurried to help April up, really wishing they could talk alone.

He was proud of her for making this decision, but he needed to know if it's really what she wanted.

They had expected to have to deal with this today.

Couldn't have known that Kol would show up at his mother's door, looking for him.

It was just luck that he'd managed to get April home, and I himself back to Tyler's, before Elena had called, telling him to meet her at the police station.

But at least it was settled now.

He'd still keep an eye on Kol, though, just in case.

The parking lot was practically empty when they walked out.

The pastor was already calling April to leave.

"One second," she called over, hurrying to Chris.

He pulled her into a hug as soon as she reached him.

"I'm okay," she promised him quickly, "I think this was the right thing to do. I know you probably don't agree, but I need you to trust me."

He let her go, and nodded, "I do trust you, babe. If you can live with it then so can I."

A horn honked and she threw an annoyed look at her father.

"Ugh, I have to go. But thank you. And please, please don't do anything stupid, Chris. I'm not sure how my dad's going to react to all of this when we get home, and I don't know when I'll get to see you. So please, just promise me you won't go after Kol."

He gave her a reassuring smile, "I won't. I promise."

Another honk sounded.

Chris sighed, "You better go. I love you, okay? I won't do anything, and I'll see you soon."

She gave him a quick kiss, as she let him go, "I love you, too. I'll call you!"

He nodded, before watching her run back over to her dad's truck.

She waved as they drove away.

Caught up in her departure, he jumped when a hand touched his shoulder.

He glanced up to see Damon.

"Come on, Chris. Let's go home."

Chris nodded, seeing his mother standing by her car, waiting for them.

"Yeah...Let's go home."

Okay, I hope you guys liked it!

Sorry if the format is weird, or if the wording or gramar is messed up.
