In the previous chapter…
"So I take that as a yes?" he grinned again.
"Yeah, stupid" she laughed before leaning up to kiss him.
"Miss Weasley, you know you love me?" Scorpius yelled through the door.
"Depends on what you want" was the reply.
"Can you please open the door? Unless you want me to go to the ball smelling like old books, I need a shower"
"I'm in the shower so you are not coming in" Rose laughed.
"In that case I'm coming to join you!" Scorpius laughed, turning around to find his wand to unlock the door.
"You won't find it."
"Find what?" Scorpius yelled, throwing pillows off of his double bed.
"This"
Scorpius turned around to see Rose's hand sticking out of the door, twirling his wand in her fingers. Rose shrieked as she suddenly found herself whirled through the door, thrown on the bed and pinned down by the head boy.
"Miss Weasley, you know you love me? Can I have my wand back?" Scorpius grinned.
"Mr Malfoy, I am currently pinned down on your bed covered only by a towel. I don't see how I can win this" Rose sighed, handing over his wand. "Plus I can't say no to a man with ginger hair" she winked as she sat up, pushing him off of her. "Now get in that shower, you have to be ready to leave in 20 minutes"
"You'll never be ready in that time, hun" Scorpius laughed. He quickly dropped the smirk when he saw the determined look in Rose's eyes.
"I can! I'll race you to get ready Malfoy, and I can bet I will be ready to leave by the time you have finished your shower" she smirked, a mischievous glint in her eye.
Rose jumped up and ran through the bathroom into her room. Scorpius quickly realised she was serious about racing, and leapt into the shower. He quickly washed away the old book smell, washed his bright red hair, missing his blonde locks, and then shut off the water. He quickly grabbed a towel and wrapped it around his waist before practically sprinting into his room.
He opened the door and laughed. His room was empty.
"Don't laugh yet Malfoy" Rose laughed as Scorpius jumped as she poked her head around the door frame. "I said I could beat you and I did"
"How did you manage that? He said, shutting the door and walking towards his wardrobe to find out his dress robes.
"A few quick homemade charms and I was ready" Rose explained. Scorpius laughed, turned around, and froze, finally seeing Rose. "What do you think?" she asked, biting her lip as his eyes ran over her body from head to toe.
"I think that you are a stunning human being and look absolutely ravishing" he said, his mouth wide open.
"Im glad you like it" Rose grinned. "I was worried you wouldn't recognise it"
"Of course I do! It's the ball gown I bought you for my new year's ball, except so much more sexy" he said with a wink, moving to hug her.
"Uh-uh Scorp, you're soaked, get dressed then you can hug and kiss as much as you like" Rose laughed, pushing him away. With a small smirk, Scorpius turned around and returned to finding his dress robes.
5 minutes later, the pair stood in front of the fire in the common room as Scorpius straightened his bow tie. "Are you ready to open the Valentine's Ball, Miss Weasley?" he grinned, offering Rose his arm.
"I've been ready since New Year's Eve, Scorp" she smirked, linking her arm through his before leaning up to give him a kiss on the cheek.
Swirling Rose around in circles in the Great Hall, Scorpius could think of no place that he would rather be. The opening dance had gone fantastically well, with couples soon joining them on the dance floor. After welcoming everyone, they had circled the Hall, talking to various friends and staff before sitting down at their table for a drink and a rest. Throughout the rest of the night, they had danced as much as Scorpius' leg would allow him to, and were now dancing again.
"Rosie" Scorpius bent down and whispered in her ear "I think it's time we went back to our common room" he said as she locked her eyes on his.
"Getting tired?" she asked understandingly.
"I think we both are" he smiled as Rose tried to hide her yawn. "We'll finish this dance then go fall asleep in front of our fire, yeah?" he grinned.
"Sounds perfect" she smiled, "plus that way we can get out of the clearing up" she grinned before wrapping her arms around his neck.
They slowly ambled along the corridor hand on hand to their dorm. As soon as they were inside, Scorpius collapsed onto the sofa.
"I'm just gonna go and change into my pyjamas Scorp, do you want me to bring you some trackies to change into?" Rose asked, walking towards their room. She smiled as she glanced over to the sofa to see Scorpius already asleep, his head resting on the armrest. She quietly changed into her pyjamas, found out a blanket and returned to the common room. Rose muttered several charms to transfigure the sofa into a bed and remove Scorpius' shirt, tie and shoes before gently curling up next to him, pulling the blanket over them.
As Rose felt Scorpius' arms wrap around her in his slumber, she stared into the fire as her brain was swarmed with thoughts. As much as she hated it, she knew that she was going to have to see the psychiatrist soon enough. The worry etched on Scorpius' face when he thought she wasn't looking said it all. After a long time debating with herself, Rose fell asleep in Scorpius' embrace, her mind made up.
The next morning, Scorpius woke up to find a piece of parchment stuck on his face. As his eyes adjusted to the low light provided by the fire, he read the small note.
Morning Scorp,
After a fantastic evening, you fell asleep on the sofa. I had a think and I've gone to McGonagall's office to talk to her. If all goes to plan then I should be back by about 2pm.

Scorpius looked up at the clock sat on the mantle. 1pm. He had plenty of time, so he slowly got up and stretched his leg as he ran a bath. As the bath filled, he changed into a pair of trackies and a tshirt before wandering over to the kitchen to get a small hamper of lunch. When he returned, he relaxed in the bath, letting the hot water ease the ache in his leg from the night of dancing, until he heard the door open.
He smiled as he saw Rose poke her head around the door. "Do you mind if I start on the food? I'm starving, I didn't leave her office all morning" she smiled.
"Yeah, but why were you there in the first place?" Scorpius asked, resting his arms behind his head on the side of the tub, his body sinking further into the mountain of bubbles. He waited for a response, as he knew Rose had gone to grab a sandwich
"If you get out and dry off I'll explain" she yelled from in the common room. Scorpius laughed before slowly heaving himself out of the water. A few minutes later the pair were sat on the sofa, looking at the fire as they munched on sandwiches.
"So why were you in McGonagall's office, hun?" Scorpius asked, wrapping his arm around her waist.
"I went to see the psychiatrist actually" Rose said. "Don't look so shocked!" she laughed when she say Scorpius' shocked face, "I've been thinking about it a lot recently. He was really nice and we've figured out some stuff. He says that I do seem to have some attachment issues, but that now we've strengthened our relationship they should slowly improve. So like, the whole paranoia of being apart I had when I originally re-aged, that's an example of how by strengthening our relationship they're slowly improving."
"That's a good sign then, isn't it, that we're working them out" Scorpius smiled. "What else did he say?"
"He also said that the whole thing about me not having nightmares when we sleep in the same bed is an attachment thing that won't go away unless I fix it myself, so he's recommended that we slowly reintroduce sleeping separately back into our routine. I reckon that if we start by just taking two days out, Wednesday and Sunday, then we can slowly take out more. As much as I hate the idea, I think it has to be done" Rose frowned. "I don't want the nightmares to come back, Scorp", she said, the worry showing in her eyes and tone.
"Rosie I think we should try just what he said, what if we have to be apart at some point? I'm not saying we will be any time soon, but you need to be able to sleep on your own without waking up screaming" Scorpius said, rubbing small circles on her back.
"Can we trial it tonight and just see what happens? If the nightmares are straight there, we'll have to leave this whole idea until mum can get me some more tablets" Rose said, leaning back into Scorpius' chest.
"Yep, trial it tonight, see how it goes, if it goes bad we'll owl your mum in the morning" Scorpius agreed. "Now what do you want to do today?"
