"I will leave you now, but I recommend that you finish your soup and then get a few hours of undisturbed sleep. I would quite like to see you back to normal within two days" she smiled before leaving the hospital wing.

Two days later, Madam Patil cleared the couple out of the hospital wing. Rose's sleep had returned to it's undisturbed pattern, and therefore so had Scorpius'. Their classmates noticed their newfound energy, as did the teachers, who were very pleased to have their star pupils back to their focused selves. After a day of lessons, Rose stifled a yawn as the pair walked up to McGonagall's office to meet with her psychiatrist, Dr Ellesmore.

"Good morning, Rose, Scorpius" Dr Ellesmore smiled. "Please sit. Now, please explain to me why you decided to sleep separately every night instead of my recommended 2 nights a week?"

"Oh my gosh, I completely forgot!" Rose said, realising that her forgetfulness had lost them both over a week's worth of lessons and sleep.

"I forgot too" Scorpius said, seeing Rose panic, "I think that after the night of no sleep, we both thought that we could try it again the next night knowing what to expect"

"Well, that plan didn't work" Dr Ellesmore frowned. "From what Rose's mother has told me, Rose has been having these nightmares for a number of years, am I correct?"

Rose nodded.

"And the tablets that you take have some effect but don't prevent them, just reduce the impacts?"

Rose nodded again.

"Right, well, I think to crack this, we are actually going to have to hack the origins of this nightmare"

"We know that already" Scorpius interrupted. Rose looked up in surprise. Scorpius forgot she didn't know.

"According to Mrs Weasley, Rose got hit by a curse as a toddler and the nightmares started right after than incident. Mrs Weasley thinks that it isn't attachment issues, but that it's insecurity issues"

"What?!" Rose practically skrieked.

"Calm, Rose, I think that Scorpius and your mum may have cracked the idea. Scorpius, is there anything more you can tell me about this incident?"

"I'm afraid not, sorry"

"Well, in that case, I'm afraid Minerva that I need to extract one of your students for testing"

"If it will fix this issue, then yes, go ahead, but I would like her back before the beginning of April" McGonagall sighed.

"You can't take me away! What testing?! I don't need tests!" Rose cried, but her questions were quickly silenced as McGonagall cast a sleeping charm on her.

"You're taking her away for nearly two months?!" Scorpius asked miserably.

"Hopefully not that long. But we'll be doing spell-tracking tests on her. Every curse leaves a mark, and we have to find which mark first."

"It's on her arm, Mrs Weasley told me" Scorpius again interrupted, hoping to help bring Rose back sooner.

"Thank you, Scorpius. I shall take Rose to St Mungo's now. I will keep you both updated via owl" Dr Ellesmore nodded before levitating Rose and apparating the pair to Mungo's.

"She'll be alright, Scorpius" Mcgonagall said, but the blank look on the boy's face said it hadn't been heard. "You may leave Scorpius" she said a little louder. Scorpius mindlessly nodded before leaving.

He got as far as the stairwell along the hallways before he just sunk to the floor. They were taking her away for tests to determine the spell caster. He knew it was vital and could help to stop the nightmares, but he couldn't help but feel a loss at knowing Rose, who hadn't left his side in practically a year, was now going to be gone for 2 months.

When the bell went for dinner, he slumped along the corridor and sat at the end of the nearest table. He continued to put food on the plate in front of him without even noticing the strange looks he was getting from the everyone as he continued to eat at the Hufflepuff table.

Leo walked up to him at the end of the meal. "Are you ok, Scorp?"

"Fine" he replied in monotone.

"You're sat at the Hufflepuff table"

"Am I?" he said without looking up from his plate in an uninterested tone.

"Where's Rose"

"Gone"

"Ahhh, that explains it"

"Explains what?"

"Why you're sat with the badgers"

Scorpius finally seemed to notice he was sat in the wrong place. "Oh. I wonder how that happened" he frowned.

"You seem very distracted, so I think you just were lost in your thoughts" Leo said. "I'll meet you in the Slytherin commy in 10 yeah?"

"Ok, I'll just go clear my head a bit" Scorpius said, standing up and walking out the doors. He walked out into the grounds for some fresh air, looked down at the lake in the distance before walking to the dungeons.

"So, Scorp, you said Rose is gone?" Leo asked.

"Yeah. They've taken her to Mungo's for tests" Scorpius said sadly.

"That's not too bad, though. If it fixes your sleeping issues then it'll be fine right?"

"The tests won't fix it. They'll find the cause, but then they have to hunt down the sadistic bastard that cursed a 4-year-old and convince Rose that he won't get her, as that's what the nightmares are all about" Scorpius moaned. "And even though its only going to do a little, she's not coming back til April anyway, so I have 2 months of not seeing her"

"Ok, that sucks. But in the meantime, you can start on your project."

"Project?"

"The one that you always told me you would do when you found the right girl. I think you've found her" Leo grinned.

"Ah, that one" Scorpius said, "Yeah, I guess I could do that."

And for the first time since Rose had gone, he smiled.

AN: HELLO! I'm so sorry for the very long and certainly unplanned delay! My excuses are down to the patheticness of "no time" and for that I do apologise. I've decided that CHG will be coming to a close soon, but I SHALL be writing a sequel! (exciting!) Hope everyone is doing ok, what with GCSEs/A levels in the UK and whatever other exams I'm certain are occurring in other countries. Hoep you enjoyed, and keep REVIEWING! I only wrote this chapter after finding a review for this story that made me smile! So thank you to those who have already reviewed, and keep going! - Rxx
