Here's a chapy for you all! Idk, I thought this chapter was boring. Just a filler to get some things in. Next shall be better!

Chapter 6: No More Tears

Goodnight, sleep tight
No more tears
In the morning
I'll be here

"Travelers," Caroline whispered. She hadn't realized she had spoken out loud until she caught all three men's eyes on her. Although it could have been ordinary witches, Caroline's recent encounter with the Travelers would say otherwise.

"Preciously my thoughts, Caroline," Elijah said. He then returned his glare at Marcel. "Anything else you would like to share?"

Caroline looked back to Marcel, catching his eyes on her daylight ring for only a second. Caroline covered her hand after he looked away, speaking to Elijah again. "There were some of our witches that showed up later on, and things were becoming heated between the two groups, so I bailed. That's all I know."

Elijah turned to Klaus. "With the Travelers near our home, this makes our situation much more complicated. Yet, the witches and Travelers have always been at odds with one another. An alliance is not possible between the two groups." Elijah then eyed Marcel. "Since it's obvious that you can no longer leave the Quarter, Marcellus, I better not see your face near the compound unless I desire it. Is that understood?"

Marcel nodded, and all the fear and tension that he had been harboring seemed to fade from his features. He took one last glance at Caroline before disappearing into the night.

"You let him go. And here I thought we were about to have some fun," Klaus said.

Elijah ignored Klaus and continued walking down the street, shoving both hands in his suite's pockets.

"Seriously! The Travelers might even be here now?!" Caroline asked, in shock. "What do they want? Aren't they, like, supposed to stay together?"

"It appears that we have some research to do before we can fully answer that question," Elijah said. "From what you've informed us of, Caroline, we can't be certain it's good. They must be planning something."

"Perhaps they would also like to sign your peace treaty, brother," Klaus muttered, smirking.

Elijah tensed but did not offer his brother a response. Caroline was thankful. It would take her some time to adjust to how things were done in this place, staying with these two. Caroline also wanted to check her phone; however, both of her hands were subjugated to carrying her shopping bags. She needed to inform Enzo that some Travelers were here and possibly find out why, if Marcel was right.

After making it back to the compound, Elijah had disappeared. Caroline and Klaus went back up to Klaus's living regions.

Caroline placed her bags in Klaus's study and proceeded to the bathroom to get cleaned up and changed into something more comfortable, changing into blue shorts and a white t-shirt. Klaus, on the other hand, went to sit on the green couch next to the fireplace in the other room. He brought his sketchbook with and flipped through its pages.

After somehow managing to find an outlet in this outdated building, Caroline plugged her phone in to a hidden outlet in the other room to charge. She then returned to the room where Klaus was in and went to peek over his shoulder. He, however, brought the sketchbook close to his chest, preventing her from seeing.

She giggled, "What, I can't see?"

"It's not finished yet, love." He murmured without looking up at her.

Caroline rolled her eyes and stepped away. Klaus brought the sketchbook back to view and continued drawing. Caroline went back to the cushioned chair and curled up in its depth and watched him.

"I'm fortunate how you assume you'll be staying with me." Klaus smirked.

She sighed, lifting a hand in the air. "Well, it's not like I have any other place to stay! And, besides, I guess I kind of… I don't know, feel safer here, or something." Her voice trailed off, trying to avoid eye contact with him. Caroline suddenly felt that uncomfortable feeling sink in again, completely neglecting what had happened before Elijah interrupted the two of them this afternoon.

Klaus's smirk only grew wider in response.

"So, are we going to talk about that message?" Klaus asked, raising an eyebrow. His eyes were still fixed on the page in front of him as his hand continued sketching.

Caroline glanced over at him, relieved he wasn't bringing earlier up. "It wasn't me, Klaus. I don't know how it happened," She said. "I was the only one in my dorm at that time, too."

"And you're certain of this?"

"Yes. And I wouldn't have done it in my sleep, if that's what you're thinking."

"There's always a first for everything," He said. "I tend to be on people's minds more often than you think."

"Urgh, will you just trust me?"

"Trust is something that I tend not to give out blindly, love. After being alive for over a thousand years, you'll understand."

"Yeah, whatever. Like I'll even make it that long." Caroline turned on her side then, facing away from Klaus. She heard him chuckle, but soon the room fell quiet, and the only sound came from the crackling fire and the grazing of Klaus's pencil on paper.

Caroline thought about her mom then, hoping that she wasn't too worried about her. Without realizing it, Caroline closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep.

It had seemed like only seconds she had been asleep, but when she began to stir around, Caroline could tell that it had been much longer. She awoke to a blanket draped over her body and the fire nearly out. She turned and saw Klaus on the same couch as before, still with his sketchbook in hand and a small lamp nearby. She also noticed that it was still dark outside the windows.

Caroline stretched. "How long was I out?"

"Just a few hours," He said, his voice low. "If you wish, you may use my bed for the time being."

Caroline nearly blushed. "I think I'm all right for now. It's just been…a weird day," She chuckled. She then straightened herself up, resuming her previous position. "Why are you still awake?"

Klaus let out a slight exhale, eyes still on the sketchbook. "I'll sleep once I deem it necessary. Can't have you disappearing again now, can we? And, besides, I'm expecting company to arrive soon."

"Company?" Caroline repeated. "You're telling me that people actually visit you?"

Klaus sneered to her insult. "As a matter of fact, yes, people do come around. Invited or not. You see I'm quite a big deal in this city. But tell me, what else is it you know of the Travelers, love?" Klaus asked, closing his sketchbook for the first time, placing it on the cushion next to him. His eyes locked onto hers, anticipating her response.

Caroline's eyes widened at the random question, catching her off-guard. She had told Klaus and Elijah earlier about the Travelers when she briefly explained Stefan's state and why she was going to Atlanta in the first place. What else does Klaus need to know?

"Umm. Well, they've been kind of hanging around the outskirts of Mystic Falls. They needed the last of the doppelganger's line to be killed for their creepy ritual. I don't know. Something about Stefan and Elena's blood being special then."

"And why is this?"

"It was a 'none of your business' type of thing. Being a bad guy, I'm sure you're familiar with all of that. It was either help them or they kill Stefan and not cure Elena and Damon," Caroline said.

"And what of them now?" He questioned, eyes never leaving hers.

"How would I know? I'm stuck here." Her voice alleviated, thinking back to the phone she had charging. "I'll be right back." She quickly got up off the chair and vanished into the nearby room.

Caroline grabbed the phone and turned it on. Once on, she scrolled through the incoming messages. Apparently, she had missed a lot while she was passed out. As she read some of the messages, she sighed in relief. Enzo was able to get Stefan away from the Travelers.

There were also many missed calls from both Elena and Bonnie's numbers from a while ago, asking Caroline where she was and if she was okay. It seemed like everyone knew her new number now. Way to go, Damon.

Caroline opened a recent message received only ten minutes ago from Elena. Odd. Caroline didn't realize it but it was now…4:00am. 4:00am! Her frustration quickly disappeared after reading Elena's message. Instead, horror spread across her face.

"No," Caroline whispered.

She unplugged the phone and made her way back to Klaus. However, Klaus was no longer in the room. Both he and his sketchbook were missing from the couch.

"Klaus?"

No response. Caroline searched around the suite, but it was no use. He wasn't there. Caroline looked to the front door then. She let herself outside into the morning's brisk air to the full courtyard. Upon hearing voices echo through the building, she approached the metal railings to look down below.

She tightly grasped the cold railing with her hands while her fear came to view.

"Caroline!" Elena shouted, looking up at her.

"Oh my god..." Caroline muttered, taken back at the sight below. As much as she hated them being here, she never felt so alleviated. Caroline rushed down the stairs and was met by Elena with a hug.

"I can't believe you are here!" Caroline exclaimed, nudging her head in Elena's shoulder, tears threatening to fill her eyes.

Standing behind Elena was Enzo and Damon. Damon seemed to be giving Enzo the rundown of their history with the Original family.

"Are you all right, Care?" Elena asked as they released each other, keeping her hands tightly on Caroline's shoulders.

"Yeah, I'm fine!" Caroline said, blissfully. "Are you okay? What happened with the Travelers?"

"I'm great, thanks to you and Enzo," Elena said. "And we'll fill you in with the details in a bit. I'm just glad you're all right."

"I'm fine, I'm fine. Where's Bonnie? I just saw your message," Caroline said, looking around the courtyard.

"Bonnie and Jeremy found a place to crash outside of town. She hasn't been feeling the greatest. Matt and Tyler are with them, too," Elena mumbled.

Caroline quickly discarded the end of Elena's sentence concerning Tyler; there were many more important things on her mind. "Urgh, you guys shouldn't have come here! There's a spell around the quarter. You won't be able to leave."

"We know. Caroline, you would do the same for any of us." Elena smiled. "Besides, it's our turn to help you."

"She's right, Blondie." Damon finally spoke, walking up next to Elena. "So don't you dare refuse our gracious offering. Nice outfit, by the way."

Caroline gasped, realizing she was still in her shorts and t-shirt.

"And quite a bloody scare you gave us," Enzo said, not allowing Caroline the chance to yell at Damon. "That whole disappearing stunt – I think you owe me a cup of coffee."

"That wasn't my fault!" Caroline laughed. Her thoughts then trailed back to Stefan. Was he okay?

As if on cue, Stefan and Elijah both walked through the tunnel entrance of the compound. Caroline nearly grinned like a fool seeing Stefan safe and sound, and finally out of the Traveler's reach.

Caroline unexpectedly felt a presence behind her, yet it was too familiar to be concerned about.

"Company," Klaus whispered only for her to hear.

Klaus then walked out past Elena and the others, moving towards Elijah with his hands clasped behind his back. Everyone then became silent at the sight of his appearance. Elena leaned in towards Damon as Klaus stepped by.

"It appears that we all now have a common interest," Klaus said, stopping in place next to Elijah, turning back around to inspect the faces before him.

Klaus continued. "Not only are we all trapped here, thanks to your persistent selves, but we have another problem on our hands that I'm sure you're all well aware of." He grimaced, faintly.

"The Travelers," Elijah said, taking the lead. "Unlike my brother here, I thank you all for coming here in a time as such. I give you my word that we shall do our best to resolve this issue. However, we cannot do this alone. There are many enemies among the Quarter, and only so few that we trust."

Damon then looked around the courtyard as if he was searching for someone else. "Hold on a minute - where's Barbie Klaus?"

Elijah stiffened to his question, his face becoming flat.

"Our baby sister will not be joining us." Klaus suddenly spoke with a smile on his lips. "And I suggest to not ask any more questions of the subject."

Damon huffed and closed his mouth, holding his hands up in a facetious matter. "All right, all right. Forget I even asked. Shesh, I did not miss these guys."

Klaus smirked in response.

"So." Stefan began, seeming to try and clear the unnerving air that was beginning to circulate around them. "Do we have any leads onto what exactly is going on? So far as we know, the Travelers are now making their way down here?"

Elijah cleared his throat. "There was a group of Travelers spotted outside of the Quarter. However, their current whereabouts are unknown at the moment. But, yes, we can only assume that the remainder of their group will soon be here."

"Perfect." Damon muttered.

"Bonnie has some information," Elena chimed in. "When she feels better, I think she'll be able to help. She is the anchor, after all."

"The anchor." Klaus repeated, grinning. "That's right. Our little witch friend is no longer, well, a witch."

Caroline gave Klaus a glare, disapproving of his comment. The corners of Klaus's lips rose, seeing he was getting a rise out of her. Caroline kept her glare on him, however, her attention was brought to Elijah.

"Until Bonnie comes to, we do not have the advantage," Elijah spoke. "I recommend that we all remain close and keep an eye out until then. You are all more than welcome to stay here with us. There are multiple rooms to choose from within the compound. Please, make yourselves at home."

Damon spoke up. "And how do we know that you and your psycho hybrid brother won't murder us all in our sleep?"

"If we wanted you murdered, you would all already be dead," Klaus mocked. "But don't fear. It isn't us that you need to be worried about. The Quarter is crawling with monsters less rational than us."

Damon scuffed, "Well that's saying something."

Klaus's eyes were fixed on Damon's taunting glare.

After a few more small discussions, the group decided to call it a night, or rather morning. Enzo surprised Caroline with her own suitcase she had already packed. After hauling in their luggage, everyone went up to find their rooms. As Caroline was about to follow the others, Klaus caught ahold of her elbow to spin her back around to him.

"And where do you think you're going?"

A/N: Is it travelers or travellers? Please help. I stopped watching both shows. I'm also not a Delena fan, but will probably have it in the story just because it's on the show...at least I still think it is?!

As always, review!
