"So Rosie" Vic started, "when were you planning to tell everyone that you're pregnant?"
The only sound that could be heard was the swish of hair as every head turned to face Rose, whose jaw was wide open.
"Vic, I'm not pregnant" Rose said after a minute. "Whatever made you think that?"
"You've been acting weird these last few weeks, you have random mood swings like this morning, you've had odd cravings and you haven't complained at me for a cramp potion in two months" Vic gave her a pointed look. "It adds up"
"Vic kinda makes sense" Lily agreed when Rose stared at her cousin, dumbstruck. "When we went shopping at Prevus you wanted to eat ice-cream at 10am. You changed from being really happy to looking pretty pissed and punching me this morning, and you've had mood swings with Scorpius too – yes, he noticed you kept getting pissy for no reason. Think – is there any possibility you could be carrying a Malfoy baby?"
Rose looked like she had been hit with a stunning spell. Then she just got up calmly and walked out of the room. Lily jumped straight up and followed her cousin as she walked purposely up the winding hallways and staircases to the bathroom. Lily said nothing as Rose searched the cupboard, and stared when she pulled out a tiny pink bottle. The label said "Pregnancy Potion - Green glow on the palm signals successful pregnancy. Rose snapped the lid off the vial and downed the pink liquid. She sat on the toilet seat as she watched her palm, praying silently that it would glow red, the colour for a fail.
Lily caught Rose as she slid off her perch a moment later when her hand glowed a faint green. Lily held her cousin as she quietly sobbed into her dressing gown.
"What do I do Lily?" she asked quietly.
"We need to talk to Vic" Lily decided. "She'll know what to do, I mean, she's been through all of this having Remus"
Rose and Lily walked back into the girls bedroom where their other cousins sat.
"Where did you go?" Dom asked as they sat down on the bed again.
"Bathroom" Lily said quickly. "Rose suddenly had a turn, looks like breakfast didn't agree with her" she frowned. "We need to get dressed" Lily announced. "Everyone meet back here in 15 so we can finish up?" The girls cast a worried glance at Rose, but left to get changed in their separate rooms. The only ones who stayed were Lily and Vic.
"Sorry Rose, I didn't mean to give you a fright" Vic said sadly as she turned to the door.
"It came up positive, Vic" Rose said quietly.
"Sorry?!"
"I didn't chunder, Lily lied so the others wouldn't know. I used one of the pregnancy potions at the back of the cupboard. And it came up positive" Rose was crying again. Vic and Lily both wrapped their arms around her as she cried.
"Shh" Vic soothed her, "It'll be okay"
"How do I tell him? How do I tell everyone?" Rose said in despair.
"Wait until after the wedding then tell Scorp at some point during your honeymoon" Vic advised. "Tell him first, then tell the family with him when you're ready. To the looks of it you must only be a month or two in, as it's not showing yet" she said.
"What if he hates me for it?" Rose muttered. "We said we'd think about kids a lot later than this – we're only just 18 for crying out loud!" she sobbed.
"Rosie, you will be the greatest mother ever" Lily said, "and we already have proof that Scorp loves kids" she grinned. "He isn't going to hate you because it'll be his little baby too"
"What about my job?"
"We can worry about that when the time comes" Vic said, "but for now, all we have to do is get you through today, then you can worry about telling people after the honeymoon is over."
"Okay" Rose nodded, taking in a deep breathe. "Okay, let's go do this wedding malarkey"
2 Hours Later
"Do you, Rose Weasley, take Scorpius Malfoy to be your lawfully wedded husband?"
"I do" Rose beamed up at Scorpius as he slid the ring onto her finger.
"You may now kiss the bride" Kingsley Shacklebolt smiled. Scorpius wrapped his bride in his arms and claimed her lips with his own.
"I love you, Mrs Malfoy" he smiled against her lips.
"I love you too" Rose smiled, but Scorpius saw something in her eyes.
"What's wrong?" he asked quietly.
"I'll explain later" Rose frowned slightly before turning the pair round to face their families. The ongoing rounds of photographs and hugs seemed to go on and on. At the reception, after listening to rounds of speech from both Draco and Ron, and then from Leo, Lily and Al, Scorpius glanced in Rose's direction as Draco finished his speech by declaring a toast. He swear her saw something shimmer in her glass of champagne before she took a careful sip. At the end of their first dance, Scorpius drew his wife closer to him and whispered in her ear. "What did you do to your champagne glass at the end of the speeches?"
"I had to change its contents" Rose whispered back. Scorpius could feel a small wet patch forming on his neck. He saw another tear roll down her cheek.
"Come outside with me?" he asked before pulling her out into the garden quietly. He pulled her gently towards the trees at the end, then sat her down on his lap on a small bench concealed from sight from the ballroom. "Rose, hun, what's the matter?" Scorpius asked gently, wrapping a curl of her hair around his finger.
"Scorp, I think I'm pregnant" Rose burst into tears against him. The shock smacked him in the face. They sat there for a few moments, Rose crying quietly into his shoulder, him staring ahead, speechless.
"Are you sure?" he asked carefully.
"Yeah, I'm s-s-so sorry" she started to stutter as her sobs started to stop and turn into a sniff.
"Rose" Scorpius smiled down at her, "why are you apologising? That's amazing news" he grinned before titling her face up to kiss her. She kissed back, visibly relaxed.
"You really don't mind?"
"Hun, it's just about the best thing you could have said" Scorpius laughed. "I was so scared you were going to tell me you'd found someone else, or that you didn't want to marry me anymore" he said.
"Scorp, I love you so much, how could you think that?" Rose started to smile. "So you really aren't upset?"
"Not in the slightest upset" he beamed. "Who else knows?"
"Vic and Lils, and I think possibly the other bridesmaids guessed" Rose then explained the events of the morning. Scorpius fought back a laugh as Rose explained how Vic had just thrown the bombshell prediction at her that had turned out to be true.
"Well, I'm happy" Scorpius grinned. "I have a beautiful wife and a no doubt beautiful baby on the way" he smiled. "I'm guessing you don't really want to tell people yet, but I think we need to go back inside" he smirked, "we can't just vanish from our own wedding"
"No you can't" Lily growled from behind them. Rose let out a little shriek.
"Lily! I thought that was dad!" she said. Lily grinned.
"Well, thank God it wasn't" she smiled. "I see you told him" she smirked at Scorpius who was grinning ear-to-ear, "congratulations by the way, but your mysterious disappearance hasn't gone unnoticed. I said I'd check the garden, but you'd better get back inside now I've found you" she smiled.
"Ok, bossy" Rose smiled back. "Let's go and enjoy our party, Mr Malfoy"
"Mrs Malfoy, I'd be delighted" Scorpius gave her a final kiss (Lily groaned) but then lifted his bride and carried her back towards the ballroom.
