I've now changed all the minor faults I could find with all the previous chapters and let's just say that my English has improved since I first started to wright this… Anyway here's another chapter. The usual disclaimers, you know the drill.
Lily and her friends went down to breakfast quite early after Lily retold her date story to Alice, who took it with a loud and very high pitched scream. The hall was almost empty, only a couple of students at every table, most people sleep in on Sundays. The only students at the Gryffindor table were some third years and the marauders, all four of them, sitting at the table laughing, although James looked off and like he was laughing more halfheartedly.
The girls took a seat at the end of the table but all three had their attention further up.
"Maybe you should talk to him Lily, apologize you know?" Alice said. While she'd been getting ready for her date Lily had told the girls what she'd said to James and although they said they would always support her, Lily felt that they thought she had been unnecessarily cruel.
"Talk to whom?" Lily said, even though she knew who Alice was referring to.
"James of course!" Rosanna answered.
"Now?" Lily asked unsure.
"Why not now?" Rose countered.
"Fine." Lily replied and tried to look confident as she strolled over to where the marauders where sitting.
Peter was the first one to see her walk up and he nudged James who quickly dropped his toast to his plate and wiped his mouth. She stopped right next to Remus, facing James.
"Hi." She didn't know what else to say, her mind was blank.
Remus responded happily with a "Hello.", Peter with a quiet "Hi.", James just looked at her and Sirius snorted.
"What do you want?" Both Sirius and James spoke at the same time but with much different tone of voice, James with a confused curiosity and Sirius with obvious hostility.
"Pads, be nice." Remus muttered, but that just aggravated him more.
"No! I will not be nice to her! I don't see how you can stand her! She has never done anything but hurt Prongs and you just keep defending her!" Sirius stood up and stormed out, when he passed her he murmured "Fuck of."
Lily didn't know what to say, James looked horrified, Peter stunned and Remus embarrassed. She tried to collect her thoughts, she wasn't used to people disliking her, and even more unused to people proclaiming those feelings in the great hall. After what felt like forever she simply decided to say:
"Sorry." And then walked away. It wasn't brilliant but it was the best she could come up with.
When she returned to her friends she felt like crying.
"What happened? I've never seen Sirius go of on anyone like that, what did you do?" Rosanna asked with concern.
"I didn't do anything! I said hi and he just blew up!"
"What did you say after he left?"
"Nothing really, I basically just left."
"Smooth Lils." Rosanna chuckled to herself and ruffled Lily's hair.
Marcus Jonas and some of his fellow seventh year Gryffindors walked in to the great hall then, making a nice detraction for Lily. Marcus sat down next to her, kissed her softly on the cheek and then greeted the other two girls. His friends also sat down next to them, that included Frank Longbottom, one of Alice's latest crushes. Frank tried to strike up a conversation but Alice suddenly turned very shy and very interested in her scrambled eggs. Lily and Rosanna spent the remainder of breakfast trying to get Alice to talk to Frank and so the marauders incident was soon forgotten.
For the girls that is, the Marauders where not even nearly over it.
"How could you Sirius!?" When James didn't use their nickname you knew things were bad. He had returned to the dormitory a few minutes after Sirius, when Marcus Jonas had walked in he didn't really feel like sticking around. He knew that Sirius had only meant well, in his own way, but that didn't stop him from yelling profanities at his best friend.
"How could embarrass her like that!? You didn't even know what she wanted to say! You're a fucking ass! Can't you see I love her?!"
Sirius Black wasn't one to take critic lying down so soon he matched his tone of voice to James.
"Sorry for having your back bro! Why do you even bother?! She's just some slut! You know she probably even shagged snivellus, don't you want someone with higher standards than that?!
Around there is when the first punch was thrown. The two brothers wrestled each other for almost ten minutes before bursting into violent laughter.
I just love James and Sirius! I know there has been very little James/Lily but I'm getting to it, I have a whole year to fill until they can get together.
