A/N Hello all!
It's nice to be back! Welcome to part 2 of As Cold as Ice! In this part, the other colors/Elsanna will make an appearance(yaaaay)! The first four chapters will be all related. The darkness is only starting, welcome to "As Cold as Ice: The Blistering Cold".
Bright lights flash above Elsa as she lies on her back, barely conscious. The glazed over look in her eyes dulls out the burning white of the lights as she rolls down what seems to be a hallway into eternity. She hears dull, muffled sounds from every direction.
Who's there?
The question refusing to leave her head. Something blocks the light for a moment. She can't make out who, but someone is leaning over her. They keep looking at her, touching her, holding her eyelid open and looking in.
What do you want?
Her voice betrays her and does not respond. The silence is deafening. Her entire body wants to panic, but won't move. Her vision begins to vary between blistering light and biting darkness, over and over, as the person leans back out of sight.
Where am I?
Her head begins to get fuzzy. The blinding lights start to dissolve into black once again. She fights to stay awake. Her resolve falters. The weight on her eyes is more than she can handle.
How did I get here?
All her senses are rapidly deteriorating. Fear is starting to take hold. Through the darkness she sees light. Not the white lights that were rolling by, this shining has a calm eeriness to it. Elsa tries to figure out what it's coming from, but just being in its presence terrifies her.
Someone... Anyone... Help me...
The last thing she feels are warm tears streaming down the sides of her face before the darkness takes complete hold of her. She felt cold under the tears... Colder than ever before. The silence hurts her ears. The glowing radiance before her burned brighter now, no other glimmer to dilute its horrible incandescence. It tints green just slightly at first. As more time passes the hue deepens, and it starts to burn more like a flame. She's trapped in a nightmare, and the only thing she can see is this growing mass of color.
It starts to flicker, dancing and twisting its shape. Slowly it starts to take on human characteristics. Elsa hears a lady's voice breaking the silence. Barely a whisper, it sings to her, "The other night, dear, as I lay sleeping, I dreamt I held you in my arms". The disembodied voice corrupting the sweet melody, Elsa's horror intensifying with each distorted note. When the voice continues it starts to taint Elsa's memories of Anna singing the night before. "When I awoke, dear, I was mistaken", the voice began breaking down, "so I hung... My head... A-and I cried." The human-shaped flame mimics everything the woman sings, placing its head in its hands
Who are you?
The embodied flame falls to its knees, body heaving in sobs. No sound escaping from it, but the voice bellows in anger now, "WHO AM I?"!
Elsa instinctively tries to cover her ears, but her body will not listen. The voice reminds her of the night everything started. The night in her room, when she lost control of herself and froze everything. "WHO AM I?", the voice repeats, like it's waiting for an answer. Something droned in the background behind the echoing voice.
A soft, melancholy whimpering.
Where is that coming from?
"Don't you fucking ignore me", the rage seeping from the utterance could make anyone cower in fear. The avatar in front of Elsa wraps its arms around itself and shakes violently.
It's panicking. Leave it alone. Can't you see it's scared and hurting.
Elsa hears someone breathing heavily behind her and can feel the heat of their breath in her ear. The voice quivers, "I can..." It doesn't sound remorseful, it sounds... Excited. "I can taste the agony. I'm hungry for the pain." The way it speaks, and the yearning tone it uses, emphasizes the almost insatiable lust for destruction. The voice drips with so much disgust, Elsa can picture some sort of monster behind her drooling and licking its lips. Feeling a hand touch the back of her head pushes Elsa over the edge.
"Get the hell away from me!", to Elsa's surprise, her voice works. Refusing to let this sudden surge of power escape her, she screams again, "leave it alone, you sick fuck!"
The voice behind her quivers again, "oh my, please keep going, this is intoxicating." It is so close to her, Elsa expects to feel its tongue graze her earlobe. The hand works to unravel her braid, while another grasps her shoulder and starts caressing its way down her arm.
Disgusted by the feeling, Elsa hopes her body will follow her voice's lead. Her body responds and pulls away from the touch, but the hand grabs a fistful of her hair. Elsa lets out a small yelp and feels the second hand's fingers return to her arm. The whimpering from the still cowering flame in front of her escalates into full sobs with noise this time. Something about the soul crushing sounds coming from it sound very familiar to Elsa. Finally, it hit her.
It's Anna's voice.
Her face now clearly visible to Elsa.
Her features twisting into view.
Anna's tears intensify further into a wailing. The voice starts again, "every ounce of her, right now, is in pain. She is drowning in this depression." The voice moves off her ear and Elsa feels it's breath on her neck. It's grip tightens on her hair and the other hand grabs onto her wrist. The pressure on her raw skin sends a shot of pain through her body as it laughs.
"Drink it in with me."
Everything hurts.
"Devour the anguish."
Anna...
"Embrace how she hates and fears you."
"No...", Elsa coughs out. She reaches her unrestrained hand out towards her sister, and is quickly yanked back by her hair. Between her wrist, her hair, and her heart, the pain is almost unbearable.
"She wouldn't hate me...", Elsa reaches out again.
"She wouldn't fear me...", she pulls against the hands holding her back.
"She wouldn't give up on me, even when I had given up on myself...", she inches closer and closer to Anna.
Anna looks up, the power of her gaze empowering Elsa. Anna reaches her hand out and silently screams at her sister.
"She's always strong when I need her...", Elsa puts everything she has into one last push, "now it's my turn!" She frees herself from her captor and their hands connect, the warmth of Anna's fingers intertwine with the cold of Elsa's, the burning pain on her arm and in her hair numbs and a comforting touch replaces it. It felt better than anything she ever experienced. Her powers surged, but she could control them somehow.
The voice lets out a high-pitched screech. The dread welling up in Elsa only slightly comforted by Anna. "WHY?", the voice shrieks, "WHY DON'T YOU BELIEVE ME, ELSA? YOU SAW IT YOURSELF! SHE WILL FEAR YOU! SHE WILL HATE YOU!"
Elsa squeezes Anna's hand, "What she fears... What she hates...", Elsa spins and throws up her hand, ready to attack with her powers, "is you!" Elsa freezes.
It was her.
The reflection from the mirror.
Her glowing blue eyes and her wicked smile covered in a thin layer of frost. Something changed this time though. Her hair was pitch black and standing straight up.
Seeing herself, full-bodied, standing in front of her, staggers the real Elsa. Her opposite's smile spreads across her face and howls, "YOU CAN'T RUN FROM ME HERE ELSA. REMEMBER WHAT I TOLD YOU..." She grabs her arm again, "ALL IT TAKES IS ONE...", she grabs Elsa's face, "LITTLE...", she gets nose to nose with her, "PUSH!"
