The councilman, taken aback and sputtering, ordered me to explain myself. "what the hell do you mean, boy?!" he spat. "I've seen you training everyday, there is no progress from your impudent little body!"
"Shall I show you, sir?" I asked with a smirk. I felt my connection to the warring energies boiling within me, begging for bloodshed. Something came over me. The vision of my mysterious, white-haired oppressor flashed in my mind. I'd show his spooky ass that cages demanded to he broken.
Opening my eyes, I saw that the dark matter as well as the innocence had responded to our connection, having broken out of the vault and flown to me. The entity of dark and the epitome of light almost seemed at peace with each other as they slowly circled around my head in a crude interpretation of a halo.
I hadn't been lying when I said I hadn't made progress with the individual energies... But when asleep, I dreamt of them together; A boy and a girl, water and fire, earth and sky. Undeniably a part of each other, but kept apart. I brought them together as part of myself.
The fire would whisper, "I will be your strength." While the water would sing, "I will be your wings". And in one voice, they would shout "WE WILL BE YOUR JUSTICE AND YOUR STRENGTH!"
With our voices combined in front of the council a great shout echoed in the vaulted ceilings, making them tremble in fear of what they had created. The innocence and the dark matter collided, turning blood red. Like a soothing balm, the new energy flooded down my throat, energy surging through my veins.
As if time had stood still, the council stared, mouths agape and very unbecoming. A scoffing laugh escaped my lips as I savored their expressions, they hadn't seen anything yet.
Calling for Alma and Kanda, I stalked out the door. My pace quickened as the council's goons began to realize I wasn't exactly supposed to just run off. I went into a full-blown sprint, turning through narrow passageways and shortcuts I had learned from my many days "training".
I finally came upon Alma and Kanda in our resting room. "get up!" I yelled to them, "we're getting out of here!" they peeked out their holes groggy, but alarmed. Alma took the lead and scrambled out of his hole, Kanda following him a second later. "We're grabbing the innocence and getting out of here," I told them.
"It's about damn time," Kanda spat out unexpectedly.
I replied with a sly grin,"as much as I agree with you, we've gotta keep running. I don't fancy getting recaptured before even escaping."
And with that said, we ran; never to look back.
