And here is that second chapter I promised :)

Cana groaned as she blinked opened her eyes, the sunlight on her face waking her from sleep. She could hear people speaking but she couldn't distinguish the words. Her arm felt heavy as she brought her hand to her face and rubbed her eyes. Her bedroom slowly came into focus, the sun shining through her window and the voices coming from the living room.

"What is the meaning of this!?" Cana heard Gildarts' voice accompanied by the slamming of her front door. A low murmur answered Gildarts before he burst into Cana's bedroom.

"Cana! Are you all right?"

"Stop shouting!" Porlyusica snapped as she entered behind him, "She's perfectly fine."

"What happened?" Cana asked the healing mage completely ignoring her father to his disappointment.

"Didn't I tell you to stay out of stressful situations?" she asked the brunette sternly, "I know I specifically told you to."

Cana didn't answer. She was right after all.

"It's nearly impossible to stay completely out of stress." Gildarts protested, defending his daughter.

"Clearly." Porlyusica responded with pursed lips.

"The child?" Cana asked.

"The child is fine. But there is something else."

Cana cocked her head to the side in question. She didn't like that answer.

"What's wrong with little Gildarts?" Gildarts asked, tears forming at the corners of his eyes. Porlyusica ignored him.

"You're pregnant with twins." The healing mage stated bluntly. Both Gildarts and Cana's mouths dropped open, resulting in the father and daughter looking quite alike. It would have been funny in any other situation.

"Twins." Cana said softly. Cana was shocked. Being pregnant was enough of a surprise on its own but she never expected twins. Gildarts eyes were shining.

"A little Gildarts and a little Cornelia." He gushed happily, dancing around the room.

"You need to rest for the remainder of the day." Porlyusica said, "And for the last time try to stay out of stress. With twins you'll be more affected then if there was only one fetus. Your magic will also continue to be unsettled, as the twins are probably magical in their own right."

"That's what was unsettling my magic?" Cana asked in disbelief.

"Of course. Three bodies of magic all contained in one vessel. What did you think it was?"

Cana frowned at the older woman. She didn't enjoy being talked to like a child, although in Porlyusica's defense she talked to everyone like that. And how the hell was Cana going to know that? It wasn't like she had been pregnant before. Porlyusica sighed. How she hated dealing with humans.

"I'll leave you to your rest now. And you," she glared in Gildarts' direction, "Should also leave her be." Without another word Porlyusica turned and left. Neither Gildarts or Cana said anything until they heard the front door slam shut behind the grumpy mage.

"Who was she talking to?" Cana finally asked looking up at her father. Gildarts shrugged.

"Video lacrima. Wasn't really paying any attention." Cana sighed.

"Well I'll be off my dearest daughter." Gildarts said cheerfully as he exited her room. Cana carefully stood up from her bed and when she found that she could stand alright followed him into the living room.

"Where are you going?"

"The guild." He responded with a huge grin, "Everyone needs to know that my little Cana is having twins."

Cana rolled her eyes. That was all she needed. Another excuse for Mira to throw another party which would probably end in complete disaster, like the last one.

"Enjoy yourself." She said walking into her kitchen. She desperately needed a cup of tea. Cana laughed to herself. It seemed that by the time this all ended she would no longer be addicted to alcohol.

"I'll be back soooon!" Gildarts sang as he left. Cana merely sighed again. Why couldn't she have a normal father?

Cana was sitting on the couch much like she had been when he had entered her home the first time. Also like the first time she had a cup of tea in her hands but unlike last time her face was calm, her eyes unreadable, and her hands weren't shaking.

"How did your father take it?" Laxus finally asked after minutes of silence. Cana blinked and glanced at him almost as if she had forgotten he had been there.

"He was excited." She finally said, "Ran over to the guild to tell everyone. Left right before you showed up."

"Heh, yeah that wasn't coincidental." Laxus said with a nervous laugh. Cana smirked.

"Scared?" Laxus' eyes narrowed but then he shrugged.

"You would be too if you were in my shoes." He muttered looking away. Cana chuckled before looking out the window again.

"So now what?" Laxus asked breaking the silence again. Cana looked at him in question.

"What do we do?" he asked trying to make his point clear. Cana nibbled her lip.

"I suppose we need to get ready for their arrival." She said slowly.

"How?"

Cana looked at him with a lost look on her face. She had no idea.

"Maybe I should talk to Bisca." Cana mused. Bisca was the only person she knew who had, had a child. Laxus sighed and ran a hand through his hair. He was way out of his element. Both mages were deep in their own thoughts when the door suddenly burst opened and Gildarts bounded into the room. His eyes locked on Laxus who was half standing looking like a deer caught in headlights.

"You!" Gildarts whispered menacingly. Laxus visibly gulped. He was in deep shit now.

"Gildarts." Cana said warningly as she moved in between the two mages.

"There's a door in my bedroom that leads outside to the garden. You better move." She muttered to the lightening dragon slayer. Laxus didn't need to be told twice. He bolted from the room. Gildarts made a move to follow but Cana stepped in front of him again.

"Step aside Cana." He ordered. Instead of moving Cana put on her sweetest smile.

"Please don't hurt him daddy."

Gildarts' face immediately softened only to turn hard once more.

"But I need to beat him for violating my Cana."

"Gildarts." Cana said again her voice immediately changing from sweet to dangerous. Gildarts looked at her sternly.

"Cana step aside. I've already promised not to hurt him. I just want to have a little…chat." There was an evil glint in his eye.

"You know the front door is behind you." Cana said crossing her arms. She figured she had bought enough time for the dragon slayer to get a good head start. Not that it mattered. Gildarts would probably catch him regardless. Gildarts blinked at her for a second before turning and bolting out the front door. Cana shook her head as she retook her place on the couch. Men!

Laxus came to a stop next to the giant Sola tree that decorated the center of South Gate Park. He was gasping for breath as he took a quick look around him. He had gotten a good head start from Cana's house, using his lightening to put as much distance between himself and the disassembly mage as possible. And yet after a short period of time, probably no more then a handful of minutes, the older man had somehow caught up to him. It was ridiculous. He took crazy S-class missions by himself all the time and has come across countless of strong enemies and yet he was terrified of him own guild mate. Granted he did get said guild mate's daughter pregnant, with twins no less. Laxus growled to himself and stood up straight once again looking around him. Then he stiffened as Gildarts suddenly appeared on his left, seemingly out of no where but Laxus held his ground as he turned to face him. Gildarts crossed his arms and gave the younger male a once over. To Gildarts it looked like Laxus was ready for a fight. Gildarts chuckled lightly.

"All that running has made me thirsty. Care to join me for a drink?"

Laxus simply stared at him in slight shock, the tension quickly leaving his stiffened form.

"Um sure?" he said in confusion. Gildarts chuckled again as he threw an arm around his shoulders and steered him toward the nearest tavern. Laxus allowed himself to be steered although he desperately wanted to run again. Wasn't he supposed to be getting his ass kicked? Neither male said anything until a tankard of beer was set in front of each of them.

"Great place." Gildarts commented as he downed his drink in one go. Laxus suddenly realized that Cana's alcohol tolerance was probably hereditary. Gildarts looked Laxus over again noticing his nervousness. Gildarts wanted to laugh again. He found the whole situation absolutely hilarious despite the reasons for the two of them sitting there.

"You look confused."

"A little." Laxus responded cautiously. No need to provoke the man.

"I remember the first time I met my late wife's parents. It was right after we had eloped. I thought I was going to be a dead man after that dinner." Gildarts chuckled, momentarily lost in thought. When his eyes focused on Laxus again Laxus looked inquisitive.

"You probably don't love her." Gildarts said quietly, his voice turning serious, "And I know she doesn't love you. But if you think you can leave her alone with two little ones you're a dead man."

"That was never my intention." Laxus declared immediately. Then he hesitated slightly before continuing, "I never intended for any of this to happen, never imagined it could happen. But that doesn't mean I'm going to leave Cana to fend for herself. It's just as every bit my responsibility as it is hers."

Gildarts smiled behind his cup. While he was surprised to hear that his daughter was pregnant and even more surprised that Laxus was the father he couldn't help but think that just maybe the two of them will be able to make this work.

"Well that's good to hear." Gildarts said, "Wouldn't want either of you making the same mistake I did."

Laxus squirmed slightly in his seat. The conversation was steadily going in a direction he was not comfortable with. And for Gildarts to bring up the fact that he hadn't known Cana was his daughter until recently was not helping the matter.

"I think I'll sit here awhile Laxus. I'm sure you have better things to do then to listen to an old man reminisce." Laxus nearly sighed in relief.

"Later Gildarts." He quickly mumbled before leaving the tavern just as quickly as he had left Cana's house earlier that afternoon.

Laxus sighed as he began his walk back towards the guild. If anything the talk with Gildarts had shown him that he really needed to get his act together. He might not know what to do with twins on the way but neither did Cana. They were going to need some serious help.

Cana walked along the canal that flowed through the center of Magnolia lost in her thoughts. The sun was beginning to set and the streets were slowly emptying as most of the town's residents turned in for the night. Shortly after Laxus and Gildarts had chased each other from her house Cana realized that she had meant to go grocery shopping that day. But of course that had been a decision made before the events of the party two nights ago and everything that had happened after. By the time Cana had felt up to going it was already late afternoon. Which was why the sun was now setting and it would be dark before Cana managed to get home. She felt like she was being unusually paranoid as she gripped her cards through her purse, but something didn't feel right in the quiet and normally peaceful town of Magnolia. Cana shook her head. Maybe it was just the pregnancy getting to her head. She was starting to feel like an overprotective mother and it was only a little over a month into the pregnancy.

Cana suddenly froze as she turned down the street to her house. She glanced around her but saw nothing. It was dark, only a faint glow on the horizon to her left. Cana shuddered involuntarily before looking around her again. It felt like someone was watching her.

"Paranoid over nothing." She finally muttered to herself as she continued walking. Her steps were a little faster and she had never been so glad to be home as she let herself in the front door. With a last glance at the darken street behind her Cana closed and locked the door on the night.
