Chapter 16: Eternal Darkness

A dim light blurred with the darkness that filled the room. A sharp pain shot through Xion's head as she regained consciousness. Her vision blurred as she tried to focus her sight into the darkness that surrounded the ring of light. She shifted in the uncomfortable chair, feeling the rope tighten around her wrists that were bound behind the back of the chair. Xion titled her head to the side, catching a small glimpse of red hair.

"Kairi?" Xion whispered.

Kairi shifted in her seat at the sound of Xion's voice. "Where are we?" she asked in a daze. Kairi looked up at the single light bulb that dangled from the ceiling by a loose wire. "What the-?" She struggled with her bound limbs. She looked back at the raven haired girl who sat back to back with her. Kairi rocked back and forth in her chair violently. "Who the fuck did this?!" Kairi screeched.

Xion felt a chill run up her spine as her ears twitched. "Kairi, calm down!"

Kairi continued to struggle in her chair, screaming and swearing into the dark abyss.

Three shadows slid through the deep darkness as they crept to the light. "Hey, sweet cheeks," Xigbar greeted the two girls as he slithered into the light.

"You asshole!" Kairi spat at him.

A second figure swiftly moved into the light. His black dreadlocks hung back into a ponytail that rested high on the back of his head and his thick sideburns almost reached to the bridge of his nose. His thick eyebrows furrowed deeply into his forehead. "Don't flirt with captives," he sternly ordered Xigbar.

Xigbar leaned over to his and smirked. "I'm a higher rank than you, Xaldin," Xigbar gloated.

Xaldin remained unimpressed and slid to the side as a third figure stepped into the dim light. His silver hair illuminated in the dim light. "I've been expecting you, Xion. And I see that you brought a guest."

Kairi's chest puffed out as she screamed. "I'll fucking kill you!" She face grew red as she spewd out obscenities at the three men.

Xaldin clawed his large fingers into Kairi's hair, and with one swift pull, he threw her to the ground. Xion heard a loud thump as Kairi's body hit the ground sideways in her chair. Her long crimson red hair draped over her face. He loomed over Kairi and kicked her stomach with his thick leg.

Kairi let out a gasp as she coughed up blood. Xion watched helplessly as Xaldin kicked Kairi repeated. "Stop!" Xion choked, fighting back the tears. "Don't hurt my friend!"

Xigbar laughed at the pathetic girl. He leaned forward to face Xion, leaning over her as he watched tears rolled down her cheek. "Where's Roxas to save you now?" he mocked at her.

Xion quickly turned to Xigbar as he continued to laughed above her. Xion felt a spark. "Shut up!" she screamed at him. She lifted herself as much as she could, headbutting Xigbar under his jaw, knocking him flat on his back.

Xaldin stopped mid-kick and took a step back. Kairi looked up at Xion through her crimson hair. Blood drooled out of her mouth. Xemnas glided over to the shaking Xion. He smirked at him. "I thought you didn't need friends?"

Xion avoided Xemnas's gaze. "Kairi's my friend and I need her," she admitted.

Xemnas circled around Xion like a hungry buzzard. "What about Roxas?"

"I don't need him." Another tear rolled down Xion's cheek.

"Pathetic." Xemnas roughly grabbed Xion's face, forcing her to look him in the eye. "You know what you are? You're a parasite, a leech. You leech off of other people for attention. That's why you allowed Vexen to abuse you. You loved the attention he gave you."

Xion trembled under Xemnas's stare.

"Once you found Roxas, you started leeching off of him. You can act tough all you want and continue this delusional state of always needing to shut everyone out, but in reality, you are just a pathetic leech who took advantage of the situation. You used him to feel better about yourself." He watched in hidden delight as watched Xion break in front of him. "You only feel better about yourself when you can drag people down with you. You dragged Roxas down. You dragged Ven down." Xemnas forced Xion to look at Kairi. "And you dragged her down."

He released Xion's face. She stared at him with large eyes that glistened with tears.

"You're just a nobody."

Nobody… Nobody… Nobody. The word echoed through her mind. "How do you know so much about me?"

Xemnas circled around Xion again. "After Vexen lost his job, he came crawling to us for support. He always rambled about how much he resented you for making him a laughing-stock. Then Ansem began keeping tabs on you long before you met Roxas. Roxas didn't get involved in this mess until after you latched on him. Roxas would have been living a peaceful life with Ven if you didn't lead us to him."

Xion gaped at him in shock. "This is my fault." The words escaped from her opened mouth.

"You see, Vexen was somewhat useful. He created this special concoction." Xemnas held out his hand as Xaldin placed a syringe in his palm. The green liquid flowed through the tube. "Vexen created this in hopes of paralysing the human body to a near death like state," Xemnas explained. "You'll be the first person to test this out."

Xion struggled in her chair as Xemnas brought the needle to her arm. An acute pain shot through Xion's arm as the long needle plunged into her flesh. Xemnas pushed down his large thumb, injecting the strange green liquid into her body. Xion shook violently as her heart began to pound. It felt like it was going to burst out of her chest. Her pupils dilated as adrenaline rushed through her body to fight against the medicine. Then a tide washed over Xion, numbing her every sense. Her mouth felt like rubber as her eyelids grew heavy. The rhythm of her heart soothed her as it slowed down to almost nothing.

Her muscles relaxed as she slipped into the darkness that beckoned her. Xion slumped over in her chair.

Axel held his hand of cards closely in front of his face. He peeked to his sides to glance at Roxas and Sora. Sora stuck his tongue out as he reorganized his cards over and over. Roxas sat back with his arm slung over his knee and his free hand holding his cards a good distance from him.

Sora pulled out a card and placed it at the end of his hand. "I haven't heard from Kairi all night long," Sora mentioned.

Axel threw his cards down on the table. "Maybe she's having passionate lesbian sex with Xion," he smirked at Sora.

Sora's face grew red as he became flustered. "N-no! She would never do that," he denied.

Roxas shot Axel an uncomfortable glance. Axel slapped Roxas on the back, making him drop his cards. "Cheer up, buddy!"

Roxas shifted away from Axel. "I'm still torn up about losing Xion."

Axel retracted his hand and looked at Roxas with pity. "I know how you feel, Roxas," he said emphatically. Larxene…

"I wish I can hear from her one more time."

Roxas's phone lit up and vibrated for a few seconds on the table. Roxas, Axel, and Sora exchanged glances around the table.

Roxas nervously reached out to his phone. His arm felt heavy as he grabbed him phone and looked at the screen.
