There was still some celebrating going on, but most of the people had finally gone to bed. There also weren't as many Ministry officials out and roaming around the field as there had been earlier.
There were only a few people around to challenge the group of hooded and masked figures marching their way down the field.
One Ministry official was yawning sleepily when he suddenly noticed the figures. He blinked several times, thinking that he was seeing things. Then, the panic and the fear began to set in.
"It can't be," he gasped.
The figure in the lead pulled out its wand and pointed it at the Ministry official before he could raise the alarm.
A beam of red light shot out of the wand and struck the man in his chest. He immediately lost consciousness as he dropped to the ground.
"Way too easy," Lucius muttered to himself in both amusement and disappointment.
Still leading the way, Lucius easily dispatched the few other Ministry officials that were in their path. For all their earlier showboating when it came to making sure that everything was "secure" and that everyone was "behaving," the fools were not prepared to handle anything serious.
It didn't take the group of former Death Eaters long to reach the Muggle's cottage.
Lucius twirled his wand, so that sparks would come out of it. The sparks popped and made loud, exploding sounds.
The rest of the Death Eaters pulled out their wands and did the same.
It didn't take long for the cottage door to open. The Muggle stepped outside.
"You better take that noise elsewhere," Mr. Roberts growled. "We're trying to sleep here."
So, there was more than one Muggle around. What had the Ministry been thinking?
Mr. Roberts, meanwhile, caught sight of the hooded and masked figures, and his eyes widened in fear. He immediately ran back into his cottage, closing the door behind him.
Smirking underneath his mask, Lucius pointed his wand at the cottage door, which caused it to explode off its hinges.
Holding his wand out in front of him, Lucius then stepped inside the cottage, the rest of the Death Eaters close behind him.
The wizards began to make their way through the cottage, looking for the Muggle and the others that he had indicated were with him.
The cottage was small, so it didn't take the Death Eaters long to locate Mr. Roberts. He was huddled in a corner. There was a woman and two small children behind him.
Lucius could feel the other Death Eaters smiling in twisted delight underneath their masks.
"Take whatever you want," Mr. Roberts said in a pleading tone of voice. "Just please, don't hurt us."
"As if you could possibly have something that we would want," Lucius sneered.
One of the small children whimpered.
Lucius's wand lowered ever so slightly. He had definitely targeted children before in Muggle raids (and it had not bothered him in the slightest when he had put the Mudblood children at Hogwarts at risk when he had slipped the Dark Lord's diary to Ginny Weasley), but Lucius still did not like messing with children this directly. Especially children this small.
He knew what it like to be a frightened little child.
He also knew what it felt like to have no one come to his rescue.
"That little one is mine," Macnair spoke.
"I'll take the wife," Avery snickered. "She's not too bad looking for a Muggle."
Not to mention she's the best looking thing you will ever get a chance to have," Nott jeered.
Several of the Death Eaters laughed.
Avery pointed his wand at Nott in anger.
Lucius reached out and grabbed Avery's wand before he could use it to send a hex Nott's way. The blond-haired wizard then gave Avery a warning glare before directing his attention back to the four Muggles.
"Please," Mr. Roberts pleaded.
"Why do you always beg?" Lucius asked. "There is no such thing as mercy in this world."
He had learned that lesson at a very young age.
The second of the two small children now whimpered.
"Oh, don't be that way, little one," Avery said in a mock soothing voice. "We're just going to have a little fun with you, that's all. Don't you like having fun?"
The Death Eaters laughed.
Lucius could smell the alcohol on many of their breaths. Hadn't he told them more than once not to drink too much?
"Enough of this," Lucius hissed. "We're here to give the Ministry a show they won't soon forget, and we can't do that from inside here."
Lucius pointed his wand at the four Muggles and motioned for them to start walking.
Lucius could feel that his comrades' excitement was growing by the moment.
One of the two Muggle children looked at Lucius with terrified eyes. He, however, refused to allow himself to be moved. So what if they were just little children. They were Muggles. Besides, there had been no pity for him when he had been a child. It was never too early to learn that the world was a cruel place.
It didn't take Lucius long to direct the Muggles outside.
"Let's help the Ministry to find us," Lucius spoke. "This won't be half the fun if they don't see."
The Death Eaters began to shoot bright, explosive sparks out of the wands.
Lucius, meanwhile, kept his wand pointed at the Muggles as he forced them to walk past the gate and onto the field.
It didn't take long for people to start coming out of their tents, several Ministry officials among them.
It took the people several moments to register what exactly was going on. But as soon as they did, most of them began to scream and run away.
"I think we have enough of an audience now," Lucius said.
The Death Eaters used their wands to levitate the four Muggles into the air. Lucius, however, kept his wand at the ready, just in case someone decided to challenge them.
Most of the people were still running away, but there were several that joined the Death Eaters in their march. They laughed drunkenly at the floating bodies.
You can always trust that there will be at least a few people that find everything to be funny when they're drunk, Lucius thought to himself with some amusement. They probably don't fully realize what exactly they're laughing at.
Out of the corner of his eye, Lucius noticed that several Ministry officials were making their way towards them. They had their wands out, but they didn't do anything. Instead, they looked anxiously up at the four floating bodies. It was clear that they were afraid that if they did anything against the Death Eaters, the Muggles could possibly be harmed.
Lucius grinned under his mask. You couldn't get anywhere in life if you weren't willing to take a few risks every now and then.
The crowd gathered around the Death Eaters had grown considerably by this point. Several tents were trampled as they marched.
Lucius used his wand to catch several nearby tents on fire.
Avery used his wand to flip Mrs. Roberts over. Her nightdress fell down, revealing her rather huge drawers. There was a lot of laughing and jeering from the crowd below as she struggled to cover herself back up.
"You sure do have good taste, Avery," several of the Death Eaters laughed.
"Are we still looking at the future Mrs. Avery?"
"Real mature," Lucius hissed at Avery. "You are truly frightening. I think I just might be shaking in my boots."
"I'm just having a little bit of fun, Lucius," Avery replied. "I've always wanted to know what Muggles wore underneath their clothes."
"You live a very depressing life then," Lucius responded, "if that is one of your main desires."
Avery just laughed.
Lucius watched as Macnair used his wand to spin the smaller of the two Muggle children very violently.
"Do be careful," Lucius told the other wizard. "I don't want to be vomited on."
"Don't worry, Lucius," Macnair replied. "I'll make sure to keep his mouth nice and closed. I don't want Muggle vomit on me either. It might be contagious."
Macnair then shuddered in mock fright.
Lucius could not help but grin once again underneath his mask. He then used his wand to set another tent on fire.
Now, where had Arthur Weasley's tent been on the map? That was one tent Lucius most definitely had to make sure was destroyed.
