"We'll get him back April, I promise."
" I never want to see your faces ever again!"
Darkness. He was drowning in his own tears of pure anguish.
He had sacrificed everything. For what? For whom? A girl who wouldn't even care for him.
He had fallen in love with her ever since he saw her. The warmth of her hand gently brushing against his, it let him feel comfort and happiness.
Once Casey Jones had come into the picture, the shimmering light of the future they shared together had been extinguished, fading out into nothing but darkness.
She and that adolescent boy spent so much time with each other, they were practically a married couple. They compliment each other, teased each other so much it made his fragile heart break.
He would never be her other half. His hopes, his dreams, his one and only wish, shattered and displayed mockingly in front of him.
When everyone was sitting together, enjoying their meal at Mr. Murakami's, he would see April and Casey stealing glances at each other. His heart broke seeing the love of his life with someone else, but he would still cheer her on, supporting her even if he despised every minute of this.
The façade he had set up disguised his wavering feelings. Those smiles the couple shared, would it be equalivent to the tears he shed?
Why? Why was he so upset? He should be happy that she could find love with someone, even if it hurts, ever so painfully.
He knew she would never return his feelings. He was nothing but a mutant, a savage beast. Society did not accept people like him for they judged solely on appearances, not what was inside.
He let himself be engulfed in sorrow and misery. The wave of emotions washed over him, taking away fragments of his heart, his soul. The door to his future with her was just too far away, he would never be able to pass through that door.
He would keep dreaming of the days that will never come. The love that will never be presented to him, the kindness that will never be shown to him.
His brothers teased him due to his love for her. Did they realize how painful it felt? To be constantly reminded of the girl he had loved and lost?
The only person who truly understood how he felt was Timothy, who was now reduced to a pile of frozen intestines by their hands.
April probably never even cared for him. How many times had he given up everything to save her? How much had he bled? How much had he cried?
They always blamed him. No matter what happened, how much he sacrificed for her, they viewed him as a traitor. He dropped everything once he found out she was in trouble, but at what cost? Anger and hatred from his own brothers. Oh, how he wished they would show him more support during a situation like this!
Turning away from the world, he dreamt of dreams pure and sincere. But once he woke up, he realized it had all long been gone.
The trees in Autumn seemed to represent him. The drying leaves falling one by one, reducing the tree to nothing but branches. Even so, new leaves would grow in Spring and hopefully, in time, he would be able to love again.
