Man guys, I'm sorry. I've been meaning to update sooner, but I've been having a really hard week. Please pray for me, things have been rough and I'm a bit depressed. Things are falling into place- like my book getting published, and my missionary group growing. But being the leader of the group is hard. I love it, but I'm always planning things, and setting up, and going early to do a bunch of heavy lifting. I really do love it, but I'm running thin on energy. I keep getting to bed later and later, and falling asleep is almost impossible for me (I lie down then my mind starts racing a mile a minute and it will take hours for my brain to calm down), and huge school projects, and I'm stressed about how the heck I'm getting back to Russia in less than a year, and my show rabbit has some sort of tumor, so she'll be disqualified from the shows unless we can get rid of it. And I have an art show coming up, and I don't have nearly enough done. Yikes. Sorry, I know I shouldn't complain, just had to get that out of my system! Thanks ;)
Okay, DISCLAIMER: I don't own this chapter. It is exclusively the property of Marvel from the episode 'Cloak and Dagger' (except the stuff I added). I kinda wanted to put this episode in though so that now I can start connecting my story to season 3 as well. J
Almost a month had passed since the ill-fated trip to Mount Steepridge, Danny has recovered almost completely since then. Despite everyone's hardest efforts, Scorpion is still nowhere to be found. Since then, Spiderman had gotten the "brilliant" idea to start training more young superheroes.
Walking down the dark alley way, Iron Fist placed his hands on his hips, uncomfortable with all the negative energy he could feel in the area.
"Iron Fist, watch out!" Danny heard Spiderman yell at him seconds before he was pushed to the side by the jittery teen.
Turning around, he saw that Spiderman had webbed a cat to the wall. The spider's been acting weird lately. Iron Fist thought to himself. Rolling his eyes, he crossed his arms. "Many thanks, how did you know I was mildly allergic?" He was unable to keep the laugh out of his voice.
"Haha, well so many villains are animal themed, for all we knew Mr. Whiskers here could have been evil."
Turning away, Danny covered a chuckle as he heard the cat hiss and Spiderman's girly screams as the cat clawed him.
Catching up to him, Spiderman growled, "Where's Tiger? She was supposed to meet us here a while ago.
"Patience is a virtue." Iron Fist reminded him.
"Yeah, yeah. It's too early for fortune cookies. Let's just concentrate on finding these two. Cloak and Dagger. They work together but Fury only wants Dagger- apparently Cloak has attitude issues."
Frowning, Danny thought of two children he knew, Xiwang had some stubbornness and violence issues, but together she and Daniel became so much more. "It seems wrong to split them up." Danny bit his lip. I mean, he thought to himself. Without each other they would be nothing. But together, they are strong.
Without warning, a dark figure appeared out of nowhere.
"Hey, it's Cloak." Spiderman grinned.
"Carful Spider!" Iron Fist yelped as the strange energy he felt grew much, much stronger. Unfortunately, his call fell on death ears.
"Hey buddy," Spiderman grinned. "We are looking for your friend Dagger, you seen her?"
Without answering, Cloak held his arms out wide and giant goop monsters poured forth.
Danny was extremely surprised when Spiderman didn't make any puns about that… There were far too many that could have been made.
Hands lighting up with chi energy, Iron Fist lashed out at the monsters, fighting them back. With a gasp, he felt two of the monsters grab him.
"Let go!" He yelled but was unable to get away with his arms pinned to his sides. Before he knew what had happened, darkness consumed him.
Looking down, Danny saw his hands which were both white and see through. Struggling not to panic, he tried to summon his chi energy, to no avail. Sitting cross-legged on the ground, he concentrated. Everything around him spun and he saw many things. He saw Doc Oc in his lab, trying to fix the damaged equipment. He saw Fury yelling at a group of Techs to "Find our three missing heroes!"
"Oh I get it." Iron Fist grinned, speaking out loud to fill the silence. "This is showing me what is happening all over, right now." Sitting still, thinking for a couple seconds, he snapped his fingers. "So maybe I can control it!" I want to see where I am right now. Where my body is.
That is what Danny tried to think of, but one picture obscured his inner eye. A smiling girl with golden hair tumbling down between a pair or arching white swan wings, barely brushing the floor. She had deeply scared wrists from shackles worn long ago, and a beautiful smile.
The image spun. But instead of Steepridge or the mountain tree house, he saw a stone dungeon. Standing up bravely, her wrists chained to the wall above her head, stood Angel. Her eyes were sunken in and bruised and she was even thinner than before, nothing but bones wrapped in skin. One wing hung completely limp, the feathers dirty and disheveled.
In front of her stood Scorpion. "Tell me!" He hissed. "You are the most infamous tracker/ assassin/ thief in the entire criminal underworld. Tell Me What You Know." He punctuated each world.
Shaking her head, her voice cracked from disuse. "Why do you think I'd tell you? We've been going over this for a month. If you knew, you would have the power to destroy a good piece of the world."
Gasping, Iron Fist thought, What is she doing?! It sounds like she's baiting him. He's going to kill her if she keeps this up!
He almost face palmed when he heard her add, "I'll never tell you anything!"
Spinning in a circle, Scorpion lashed Angel with his spiked tail, leaving bloody cuts across her chest and stomach. "I have been patient." He growled. "I have given you time! Now my patience has run out!" Angel didn't move a muscle as Scorpion stepped forward and plunged a needle into her arm, injecting her with some sort of blue liquid. She simply stood there, staring him straight in the eye.
"That is called Wolf's Fang Poison." Scorpion smirked at her. "The only cure is time. Every night, your body will get colder and colder until you either freeze to death or die from exhaustion from trying to keep yourself awake. It is an extremely painful way to go. I can give you what you need to outlast the poison- if you tell me the information I seek. If you don't, you will freeze to death in one week's time. Your choice."
NO! Danny screamed wordlessly, Angel! Spinning, the vision dissipated.
I've got to get out of here. He thought to himself. Using his many years of training in focus and patience, Iron Fist felt his spirit pulled in a single direction. Take me back to my body.
A deep, rumbling voice boomed through his skull, "You shall never escape! You are mine."
I am no one's. Release me!
"Never. The only way to escape me is to learn the hidden chord. And you have no idea what that is, do you." It wasn't a question, but Danny grinned. Whatever the monster that had trapped him here was, he had underestimated him.
I know more than you think. The hidden chord is the hidden essence of who I am. And I think I have figured it out. I am part of a team of teenage superheroes. I am the future king of 'Kun 'Lun. And I am a survivor. NOW RELESE ME!
A noise like a wailing scream pierced his skull as the darkness around him faded. Opening his eyes, Danny looked down to see that his Iron Fist costume had changed, reflecting that he had just learned the true essence of who he was.
Glancing over, he smiled at White Tiger who was blinking as if she had just woken up. Her costume had changed as well.
"Wow guys." Spiderman's eyes were wide as he looked at his teammates. "Nice threads."
Glancing up, Danny spotted the demon who had captured them. Letting his fists light up with the power of the iron fist, Danny nodded, "Let's do this."
Let me know if this chapter is lame, or if I should add a couple between this one and the last one. I'm tired and it's late-ish, so I may or may not be thinking straight ;) so yeh, anyone's opinions are welcome.
Oh, and a note to TheOnyxDragon12, my friend drew the cover for me. (my drawings look more like anime, and that didn't really fit the theme, haha)
