Hey guys! Thanks for sticking wif me ;) especially after all that technology trouble i had :P
Note to HappyD: Thanks! I love writing the part of Nova because he acts a lot like me (silly, immature, and kinda stupid) haha. He may be the only character whose personality I've gotten close to right ;)
"Hello... Father."
Mouths fell open all across the room as they looked from the African American Director of SHIELD to the very pale-skinned, blond avian.
"Father?!" Sam exclaimed.
"How dare you show your face here after so many years!" Snarling, Fury pointed a gun at Angel and glared at her with.,, well... fury. "Eight years, eight years! I thought you were dead, or worse!"
"You should have given up looking for me years ago."
"How could you do that to me!? You just disappeared without a trace! Then I heard the rumors of the angel of Steepridge, of the miraculous healings and how a single swan feather would be left behind and I dared to hope. How could you leave? How could you never contact me!?"
The team stared at Fury in shock as an emotion they had never seen in him before flooded in his eyes- sadness. "I thought you were dead."
"You never should have looked for me, you should have left me alone. You know as well as I do that if you found me I would be as good as dead!"
"And that's MY fault?" Fury snarled, "Who was it that broke the law?"
"I will NEVER, NEVER OBEY A LAW LIKE THAT! HOW COULD YOU WATCH THAT AND DO NOTHING TO STOP IT?!" Angel shrieked, eyes glowing in hatred. Danny could not tell who the emotion was directed at.
"IT WASN'T MINE TO STOP!" Fury screamed back. "Couldn't you for once in your life leave well enough alone?"
"CHILDREN WERE DYING! WHAT WAS I SUPPOSED TO DO?"
"Those men had the right to do what they did, it is legal there!"
"No one has the right to touch a child, NO ONE! I DON'T CARE ABOUT THE LAW!"
"WHICH IS WHY YOU GOT ARRESTED!"
"Stooooooooop!" Sam yelled, drawing everyone's attention. Raising his arms in confusion, he asked Angel again, "Father?" The team and some of the agents chuckled but Danny, Angel, and Fury simply stared at him in annoyance.
"You couldn't leave well enough alone, could you Angel?" Fury shook his head, ignoring Sam, "You broke the law in multiple countries."
"And that's when we all found out how much you really care about you daughter." Angel hissed.
"I'm not the one who gave you the brand!" Fury protested.
"Yeah? The way I see it: you might as well have, you did nothing to stop them."
Making a quick motion with his hand, Fury signaled for two agents to grab her. They moved so quickly that she had no time to stop them and found her arms pinned behind her back, wedged under her wings. One of them pulled down her sleeve and gulped when they saw the brand on her shoulder, marking her as an international criminal scheduled for execution.
The Team's eyes grew wide when they recognized the mark and Angel shrugged, "I did what had to be done, I regret nothing."
With eyes sad, Fury sighed, "Angel Nicky Fury, you are hereby arrested on the charges of international theft, vandalism, assault, conspiracy to assassinate three political leaders..."
"I wasn't planning on killing them," She rolled her eyes, "I was just trying to scare them."
Glaring at her, he nodded to the agents, "Take her away."
Looking at Fury with wide, innocent emerald eyes, Angel shook her head. "I ceased to carry your name long ago, and you know what? Everyone always underestimates me, how do you think I escaped my execution? But you wingless ones never think of my wings as dangerous." Growling, she shoved her powerful wing back, throwing the two agents holding her against the wall.
Taking two flying leaps, she leaped through the window- shattering it. Running to the window, Danny saw her land in a heap on the sidewalk since her left wing was still bound to her back. Blood ran down her face and arm and pedestrians stopped and screamed when they saw her. Without looking back, she raced off into an alleyway, getting swallowed by the darkness.
"How?" Danny whispered, wind coming through the broken window blew his hair into his eyes as he stared down at the streets below.
"I adopted her when she was very young," Fury answered, stepping up beside the teenager.
"You must have known how strong she was," Lowering his voice so that no one else could hear, he hissed, "You let her escape."
Nodding, Fury stared at Danny intently, "Go after her. And next time you find her, don't let me find out. For I will have to do my duty and arrest her. Don't let me know and there is nothing I can do."
"You can count on me Sir, I will protect her." With that, he raced off out of the room while Fury started shouting orders to his agents, playing the part of the intense rule-keeping agent he usually was.
