I figured that I should start writing chapters for my other stories again. *sigh* It feels good to be back writing. I'm not even sure how long it's been since I've even first published the first chapter. Way too long if you ask me. Anyways lets get through disclaimers and get into the chapter. (It's also a bit shorter than usual, sorry)

Basil and other characters from the Disney movie "The Great Mouse Detective" are owned by Disney and not me. The only thing I own are my own original character, Julia, and the story plot line.

I hope you enjoy the chapter!

Final Return: Chapter 2

A loud gasp escaped my mouth, just as a hand reached over it.

My attacker used their other hand to keep my hands together, not letting me go. I began to shake my head. Just as my mouth had gotten loose enough I bit the hand. A shriek came from my opponent.

"My goodness Julia, you almost bit off my hand!" The voice yelled

When I turned around it was none other than the one and only Basil. I could feel my face burning with anger.

"Why in all of London did you think that it was a good idea?" I protested against him," and besides you never gave me enough time to even step a foot on your staircase! So of course I'm still up!"

Basil gave me a smile. He clapped his hands slowly.

"Bravo, you have even outsmarted me in my own battle."

I could only roll my eyes.

"Let me guess, you used that secret passage, hidden in your room?"

He began to laugh. He walked over to an empty part of the wall and gave it three short knocks. After a minute of silence a section of the wall seemed to pop out, almost like a door.

"Since when do I not?" He replied

"You've always been a cheater."

"I am not a cheater!" Then he added," I just happen to find a way around the rules."

"I believe most mice call that cheating."

"It all depends on your play of words my dear."

I couldn't help but giggle. Basil always had some smart comment up his sleeve.

"Shall we sit down?" He asked me, taking my hand and leading me towards a large green chair that sat opposite of his large red chair.

"Why thank you very much." I thanked him

Once he let me sit in the chair he walked over to his chair and slumped into it. I laughed.

"You really haven't changed a bit Basil."

"Neither have you Julia." He replied

We both sighed. It was a long silence before either one of us spoke. We both just gazed at one another, looking at how we had changed, physically.

And my had Basil grown! Last I remember I was an inch or more taller than him. Ha! Oh but it seems as though puberty got the best of him and grew a few inches, though you wouldn't be able to tell based on how he is slumping in that chair. Not to mention he has gotten a bit thinner than I remember. I suppose he lost a bit of that flubber running down the streets of London. Other than that however, my old Basil is still the same one I left all those years ago.

"Why did you come back?" Basil interrupted my thoughts

"Pardon?"

"If I remember correctly you only planned to go to the college for fours years, and you were gone for much longer than that. And all those years you never wrote back to home, to your parents or to anybody, so why now? Why after all those years come back home?"

"I can't just come for a visit, Basil?"

I tried pulling the old "I'm just in town visiting" cliche, however, he gave me a very imitating glare. My eyes couldn't help but look away from his gaze. But I was not ready to declare defeat. Not just yet.

"Something must have happened." Basil thought out loud," something so big that you could not just write to home about."

He placed his hands under his chin. I could see a grin grow on his face. He knew that I was about to break, and it would only take one last sentence for me to blow my top off. I sighed in defeat. I finally told him the truth.

"Fine. I admit it, I came here because something happened in the town that I was schooling in, and the evidence is showing that I did it! And there are mice who are after me Basil. But you know I would never do anything of the sort!"

"And what, my dear friend would that be?" He questioned

It took a minute to get the courage to even speak the next few words. I never thought that I would even go through something this crazy!

"There was a murder, and I am the one they blame."
