A/N: I never really have Mako and Korra fight in this series which is weird because them fighting and making up is what I love about the ship.

Vacation.

"Do you have everything?" Mako asked as he walked out of the short hallway of his and his wife's apartment, picking up a standing amber eyed infant as he did.

Korra was standing in front of the couch, looking over the neat piles of things her husband set up for her while she was at a council meeting, trying to think if there was anything of hers that he missed. "I think so," Korra said as she twisted her gold band around her finger as she thought. "Did you get all of the girls' things? Bottles, diapers, clothes, -."

"I went down the list and got it all. Don't worry," Mako interrupted before giving the slightly worried Avatar a kiss on her forehead. "Besides, if we forget something, I'm sure your mother can think of a solution or help us find a baby store in the South Pole."

The couple were getting ready for a long boat trip all the way to the South Pole to celebrate their daughters' first birthday with their grandparents and anyone else that would venture down to the Southern Water Tribe later on. It was the first big trip with both Ama and Anali and Korra was a little worried about how the two would fair. The now standing, and somewhat walking infants can handle a ferry ride to Air Tempe Island with little to no fusing, but a long lasting boat ride to the Southern Water Tribe was a different, and unknown story. Korra was hoping that they would be like her when she was an infant. Korra's mother told her that on her first long term voyage, she fused for a few minutes, but soon stopped when her father showed off some small waterbending tricks to catch her attention. That was the plan in the Avatar's mind; make Mako hold the twins when they cried and then she would try to cheer them up the way her father did.

"Sorry, I'm just a little nervous. I really just don't how the girls will act and don't want to leave behind anything that could help them." Korra said as she looked at the piles of hers and her daughters' things on the couch.

"They'll be fine." Mako chimed in as he sat down in the open seat in the living room with Anali on his lap, trying to free herself from his hold. "They're your daughters, remember? The ride down to the South Pole shouldn't bother them if rides with Asami doesn't bother them."

"Anali is the only one that likes Asami's car rides." Korra said back as she looked at her husband with an unamused look.

"Ok, I stand corrected," Mako said, even though he was sitting. "I still think they both will be fine."

Korra thought for a moment, spinning her wedding ring around her finger. "I guess so." She said before filing through the girls' clothes, soon stopping when Ama screamed from the nursery to signal that she was awake from her nap.

The ride was unbearable. Their room on ship was nothing but echoing cries which made both their ears ring. "They'll be fine you said," Korra said dryly as she shot a narrowed stare at her husband as she tried to console Anali – who had already threw up on her mother three time that day and was now screaming bloody murder and pulling Korra's hair that she forgot to tie back. Mako was pacing around the cabin, bouncing Ama in his arms as he rubbed her back, she didn't cry as loud as her sister for once, but the infant didn't like how the ocean knocked the ship around now and then. "The ride down to the South Pole shouldn't bother them you said," Korra continued as she continued to watch Mako walk back and forth in the room. "I still think they both will be fine you said."

"Ok, I admit it, I was wrong. Sorry. But you know that there was no other way to travel since you still think they're too young to ride an Air Bison." Mako snapped as he stopped pacing to look at his frustrated wife. "We could've just had your parents come to Republic City to celebrate, but no, you were just so keen on taking the girls down to see them and see where you grew up even though you know good and well that they won't remember any of it." Mako finished, his jaw clinching as he forced himself to stop before he said anything else.

"Well excuse me for wanting to save my parents the time of coming all the way to YOUR home to only have to turn back around after a few hours later, barely having any time to actually see their granddaughters." Korra retorted back sharply after taking in Mako's outburst. "It's better for us to go to the South Pole since my father, the Chief is on a tight schedule lately. I thought you would understand that since both of our jobs have us on tight schedules. Besides, have you ever thought that I just wanted to go back to my home? The city is great and all, but how many time have I talked with you about visiting the South more and possibly moving down there? Ever think that I missed it? Missed my parents? Missed Naga? But I guess you haven't City Boy."

The air seemed to still and fall silent for a moment, even though the twin infants still screamed and cried from their discomfort. Korra soon turned her angered gaze away from her husband and down to Anali, who had now stopped pulling her mother's hair and was now crying in her chest, showing that her tantrum was tiring her out. Korra readjusted the infant so that she could lie in her arms and try to fall asleep. Mako stayed where he stood and thought about what Korra said as he began to bounce Ama again in his arms, the infant done crying now that the rocking of the ship has stopped.

"I'm sorry." Mako said after a moment of thinking. "I wasn't thinking."

"Don't," Korra interrupted. "We can talk about it later, when the situation is better." She finished before moving on the small bed in the cabin so that she could lie down with Anali and help her go to sleep.

Mako walked over to the bed and sat on it behind Korra and looked at her for a moment before rubbing her arm. "I love you."

Korra let out a soft sigh. "I love you too."
