Kindred Spirits

Lucas' POV

I woke up the next morning at 8:00 as usual and did my morning routine. My parents were still asleep after spending most of the night checking, rechecking, re-rechecking, re-re-rechecking and re-re-re-rechecking our work on my superhero identity's clothing. They really wanted to make sure that I would be as safe as possible when I went out to fight crime.

I finished my morning routine around an hour later as my routine consisted of 10 minutes of jogging, a 5 minute break, 10 minutes of lifting weights, another 5 minute break, 10 more minutes of exercises, one more 5 minute break, 10 minutes of training on my training dummy and finally a 5 minute shower. When I got out of the shower, I was hungry and my parents were still asleep. I left a note telling them I went downstairs for breakfast and left the penthouse.

Once in the lobby, I walked over to the breakfast area and was seated at a table. The Ritz's breakfast area was more like a restaurant than the typical breakfast room other hotels had. When a waitress came, I ordered 3 pancakes, 3 strips of bacon, a side dish of hash browns and a glass of orange juice. The waitress told me my food would be there in a few minutes and left to give my order to the cooks. While I waited for my food I examined everyone in the room to see what I could notice. At this time there were 27 people in the room besides myself. Of the people in the room, 12 had watches, 7 wore wedding rings, 3 weren't wearing rings but had been in the recent past, 17 didn't wear rings at all and 11 had briefcases sitting next to them. Four of the watches appeared to be Rolex's but only one of them was real. The 3 people who weren't wearing rings consisted of 2 males and a female. The female and one of the males was wearing a bright red, sleeveless turtleneck and a purple baseball cap respectively. This gave away the fact that they were meeting someone here and thus were adulterers. The other male was wearing a black suit and was hungover, showing he was grieving over his wife's death. Everything was perfectly ordinary about the crowd.

By the time I had finished making these observations, my food had come and I dug in. The food was great and the orange juice had the perfect amount of pulp in it. The bacon wasn't too fat nor to lean and had the perfect amount of crunch. The pancakes were cooked perfectly and the hash browns were the perfect amount of crispy. Overall, it was the best breakfast I have ever had.

Towards the middle of my meal, I had looked up and the last person I wanted to see was waiting to be seated. "Why did she have to pick this hotel?" I thought to myself as Lucia Triton, a very hot 22 year old witch that to my displeasure was in love with me, scanned the room like I had a few minutes ago. I quickly cast a glamor charm on my hair to make it appear brown and continued eating, hoping that she wouldn't notice me. But lo and behold, I hadn't cast the spell quick enough and she sat herself right beside me. "Damn this hotel for not having a partially hidden area."

"Did you honestly think you could hide from me, my beloved?" the black haired witch said, her voice oozing with seduction.

"No, I just hoped to prolong the time it would take for you to find me. What are you doing here Lucia?" I retorted.

Said witch giggled flirtatiously and replied, "I just told you silly, I'm here because you're here."

"You know that I don't feel that way about you. Even if I did, you are too old for me," I pointed out.

"Love knows no boundaries darling. You have wormed your way into my heart and there's nothing you can do about it," Lucia responded while leaning her head on my shoulder and drawing her finger across my chest. I sighed out of annoyance and continued eating. Even if age wasn't an issue, Lucia was as far from the type of person I would date that was possible. She was amoral, masochistic, and just overall a bad person. After a few minutes of letting do as she wished, I grabbed her hand before she could go for my privates and shook my head at her. She pouted and said, "Oh come on, you need to loosen up and have a little fun sometimes."

"And you need to get your mind out of the gutter," I heard from a very familiar female voice. Lucia and I looked to my right and saw my mother, her arms crossed and her eyebrow raised. She greeted indignantly, "You must be Lucia Triton. My son has told me about you."

"Mrs. Maverock, it's a pleasure to finally meet you. Although I never imagined you would be so striking," Lucia greeted with a smile on her face and a hand offered for her to shake.

Mom however still had a look distaste on her face and didn't accept the gesture. She added, "He also told me all about your, ahem, profession. And how you constantly stalk and try to seduce him." Lucia lost her smile as she realized it was hopeless to try and make a good impression on her beloved's mother at this point in time.

"I suggest you leave," I said. Lucia looked between me and my mother before taking my advice. She got up and left the lobby, but not before blowing me a kiss to my annoyance and my mom's disgust.

My mom sat in the spot opposite me and said, "Tell me how you could have possibly met someone like her again."

"Long story mom, long story," I vaguely answered.

Meanwhile with Raven

I was eating breakfast when the feeling of wanting to rip something apart came back but not as strongly as before. I had been noticing that whenever the feelings came, they had been getting weaker and weaker. If it did have something to do with our magics interacting, it could be that my magic was getting used to his magic.

Everyone else was still asleep so I was the only one in the kitchen, leaving me free to sit there and think about the idea that I had last night. "If I experience feeling whenever he uses his magic, does he experience the same thing when I use mine?" I thought to myself while scooping the last of my cereal into my mouth. "I guess the only way to find out is if I try something and then ask him once we meet. Here it goes." With this thought, I chanted my signature words, "Azarath Mentrion Zinthos." I saw my cereal bowl go into the sink and rinse itself before flying into the dishwasher in response to my magic. "Now to just wait and see if it worked."

Back with Lucas

I was finishing my breakfast when I felt a faint feeling in my chest that wasn't pain nor pleasure. This surprised me as I had never felt something like this in the past but when nothing happened afterwords, I just shrugged and continued eating my pancakes. When I was done, I stood up and went back to the room. Dad had come downstairs a few seconds ago and heard from Mom about our encounter with Lucia. He frowned and said that if she came back he would have some things to say to her. But when the explanation was over with, my parents got their own table and began to have a breakfast date. They told me to go back to the room when I was done with breakfast and leave a note if I decided to go anywhere.

A few hours later at around 1:00 P.M, I was sitting on the couch playing around with my computer and my parents were out exploring the city. They had come back to the room at around 10:00 and told me they were heading out to the city and to leave a note if I left. I got bored with the game I was playing since I always beat everyone so I decided to go to The Dark Forest again. I left a note and head out to the aforementioned store.

I was walking down the street, halfway to my destination when I heard the sound of metal being crushed. I looked to my right to see a gigantic stone creature, about 22 feet tall, walking all over the cars and occasionally throwing a larger vehicle out of his way. People were streaming out of their cars and running away screaming. Immediately I ran into an alleyway and took out my gauntlets and put them on. The rest of my super-suit popped on a millisecond after the second gauntlet went on my wrist. Fully dressed for my superhero activities, I stepped out of the alley way and observed the situation. The stone monster was continuing his walking and crushing of cars with everybody still running away. All of a sudden, a girl around my age tripped and fell right in front of the monster, who didn't seem to notice nor care. He continued walking and was about to step on her when I formulated a strategy and shouted, "Hey stone face! Pick on someone of your own caliber!" The stone creature turned to face me in time to receive four fireballs to the face. The spells were enough to knock him off balance so I followed up with a lightning bolt to the chest, the force of which combined with him already being dazed was enough to knock him over. The girl saw what was happening and ran away from the monster to find somewhere safe After the quick barrage of spells, the stone monster stood back up and began to charge at me. I heard to my side a bunch of people telling me to get out of the way but I didn't listen as everything was going according to my plan. When he was about to charge into me, I slid right between his gigantic legs using a skateboard that had been laying nearby. I jumped off the skateboard high enough that I was about eye level with him and blasted him with another fireball to the back of his head. The force of the fireball pushed him off balance again but this time face forward onto the side walk near an open subway vent. When I landed on the ground from my jump, I ran over to the gigantic creature and lifted his legs high enough that fell head first down into the vent before he could scrabble back onto his feet. However due to his arms being wider than the vent, he was trapped upside down with his feet sticking up in the air.

With the threat eliminated, everybody started coming towards me cheering and clapping their hands. I smiled at the praise I was receiving and waved to the people while greeting, "Thank you, thank you, you're far too kind. All in a day's work for a superhero."

The girl from earlier came up to me and kissed me on the cheek. She thanked me, "I would have been a pancake if it weren't for you. Thanks."

"That was rather impressive. You took down Cinderblock by yourself," I heard from behind me.

I turned around to see a group of 5 teenagers, 2 girls and 3 guys, wearing superhero outfits. The first guy and the shortest member of the team had green skin, eyes and hair along with his bottom canine teeth being longer than normal and elf ears. His clothing was black with purple covering the neck, torso, hips and upper thighs. The tallest member of the team was an African American teen with what appeared to be cybernetics and robot parts covering a good portion of his body. His suit was black and white his cybernetics were blue with a light blue circuitry pattern. The second tallest member of the team was a girl with red hair, orange skin, a very friendly smile and eyes that were green even in the sclera (the white part of the eye). Her clothing consisted of grey gauntlets that went up to her elbows; a purple, sleeveless top that showed her belly; and a purple skirt that went to just above her knees. The other girl on the team was a couple inches taller than the green guy and her body was covered in a blue cloak but I could tell her gender based on the fact her shoulders were more slanted. "I wonder what this cutie looks like under the cloak? Wait, did I just call her a cutie?" was a stray thought that ran through my head. Getting back to my examinations, the last member of the team was around my height and could instantly be recognized as Batman's former sidekick, Robin. "I didn't know he was in Jump City. And who are these guys with him?" I thought to myself.

"I can tell you recognize me from my former exploits in Gotham. These are my teammates Cyborg, Starfire, Raven and Beast boy. We're the Teen Titans," the boy wonder introduced as he pointed to the member each name belonged to.

"It's nice to meet you. Call me Silver Sorcerer," I greeted.

"I see you actually have a uniform this time. Assuming you are the one that saved that baby 2 days ago," Robin guessed.

I smiled and answered, "Yes I did save that baby from the burning building. As for why I wasn't wearing my uniform, it takes time to make and enchant items."

"Well regardless of choice of clothing, it takes guts to charge into a burning building," Robin complimented me. "It also takes guts to face down Cinderblock alone. If you have guts to do both I think that you are worthy to be a part of something bigger."

"Let me guess, the bigger thing you're talking about is the Teen Titans?" I guessed with my eyebrow raised.

"Yes," was the Titans' leader's response. I stared at the traffic light colored hero and glanced at each of the members of the team. Starfire was looking at me with a hopeful look, Cyborg was looking at me expectantly, Beast Boy was was smiling encouragingly and Raven was looking at me with a poker face but I could tell she was hoping I would join the team as well. I looked back at Robin before deciding to give him and his team a little test.

"Si hoc quod dico intelligere, et sociare," I said in Latin. It roughly translates to 'If you can understand what I am saying, I will join you.' Watching the faces of the other Titans, I could tell that Starfire, Beast Boy and Cyborg couldn't understand a single word I was saying. Robin was figuring out what I said in his head but Raven understood every word as I spoke them.

Raven's POV

The rest of the Titans and I had been eating lunch when the alarms went off, alerting us to a crime being committed. We all immediately dropped our food and left the tower to go and deal with whatever threat was in the city. I was the first on the scene as I simply teleported and what I saw left me shocked and intrigued. A teenager was fighting against Cinderblock by himself and winning. He was wearing a silver duster with a hexagonal grid sewn into it, a black domino mask, a pair of gauntlets, black combat boots, a white dress shirt pants and a pair of black dress pants. His hair was silver but it actually looked good on him. I heard the rest of the Titans arrive and remark on what was going on but my attention was focused on the teenager. The way he was fighting Cinderblock was interesting as he was obviously using magic to do so.

After the fight I heard Robin say, "He must be the teen from yesterday. Now's our chance to talk to him." I followed after him as he went over to the teenager who had just beaten Cinderblock and was being praised for it. One of the people praising him, a teenage girl about as tall as me, walked up to him and kissed him on the cheek. I felt anger well up inside me as it happened before it went away and was replaced with confusion. "Why did I just get angry?" I thought to myself.

Being closer, I could make out the finer details that I missed being at a distance. His body was lean but very fit and not overly muscled while standing at around Robin's height. His facial features were very clear with a clear jawline, an oval face and prominent cheekbones. His skin looked very smooth and soft but not so much as to be overly feminine. His lips looked very soft and kissable while again not being overly feminine. It was at this point that I realized I had been ogling him like an everyday hormonal teenager. I could feel my cheeks brighten in embarrassment as I had met his gaze at the point of realization and forced myself to pay attention to the conversation.

Robin introduced himself and the rest of the team. The teen introduced himself in a very clear but smooth and silky voice as Silver Sorcerer. He sounded very intelligent and proud of his victory against Cinderblock while not being cocky nor conceited. The conversation went on for a few seconds before Robin offered Silver Sorcerer membership to the Titans. What I heard next shocked me and showcased just how smart Silver Sorcerer was.

"Si hoc quod dico intelligere, et sociare," were the words that came out in reply to Robin's offer. The words were in perfect Latin with no stuttering or mispronunciations. The other Titans, save for Robin and I were in the dark as to what he said but even Robin was having trouble translating.

I stepped forward and replied to the little test with, "Tu optime Latina loqui. Welcome to the team."

Well that was fun. Lucas has finally met the Teen Titans and it seems as though the chemistry between him and Raven is quite prevalent. Stay tuned to find out what happens next.
