Chapter twenty eight:
The building is dimly lit and has a slight dusty smell.
Mello continues onward anyways as he stays tense and alert for any enemies but so far none.
It's almost as if this place is actually fully abandoned…. Only Mello has a feeling that it isn't.
"Come on you fuckers." He says under his breath as he continues on his way. "Show yourselves and take me to where you are keeping Near." He continues on his journey to find Near.
The dark hallway has a turn up ahead.
He turns down it and keeps looking around himself alert for anything and everything. He keeps walking as he finds he is a longer hallway.
Not noticing that in the shadows a figure that seems to be interested in what Mello is doing only to dash in chase after Mello while staying hidden in the shadows.
Moving swiftly in the darkness to eerily follow Mello.
Mello hasn't noticed it yet as he just continues on his way to find out where Near is being held captive. He slightly jogs down the hall since there is no doors or anything just hallway. He hopes he's not too late.

Darker Near hums softly after a beast reports to him. He turns to look to Near with a smirk playing on his lips. "Seems your idiotic friends have arrived." He says.
Near slightly raises his head at darker Near's words. He still feels a little sleepy like his energy was taken and left him exhausted.
Too exhausted to even try to recapture darker Near like he is supposed to.
He gives the best glare he can to darker Near who only chuckles.
"Oh you truly look pathetic like that." Darker Near says as he chuckles. "Oh but don't worry soon it will all be over for you. Soon I will be free forever!" He raises his hands that are cupped like he is holding a baseball or tennis ball in each hand then they raise up to about level with his chest as he gives an evil insane look that seems to match his stance. "Soon this world will belong to me!" He chuckles. "As well as the beasts." He quickly adds turning away form Near when remembering that there is a beast in the room.
Near hopes that if his friend's really are here then they know it's too dangerous so they will leave to find a safe place not taken over by the beasts.
Darker Near smirks widely. "I say we should welcome our guests." He says.
The beast makes gurgling noises then leaves the room.
Darker Near turns back to Near. "Don't you dare think that you will be getting out of this." He says. "Soon it will come to the time for me to take care of you and become free forever!" He chuckles. "Hmm. I wonder what your friends would think if they knew that unless they somehow get here soon then they'll be too late."
Near manages to let out a growl at darker Near a short one but a growl none the less.
Darker Near chuckles even more at this. "Oh how pitiful!" He bursts into laughter.
Near clenches his teeth as he does his best to glare at darker Near.
Darker Near hunches over clutching his stomach he's laughing so much until he finally is able to calm himself down. "Haha." He laughs a last laugh then straightens and his arms go to his sides. He looks to Near grinning widely. "Oh don't worry." He says then after speaking he turns to head out of the room. "I will give your friends a farewell from you." He then leaves the room. "It's so much fun to get their hopes up only to crush them!" He chuckles to himself as he walks away from the room Near is being held in.
….
"What now?" Allen asks turning to Matt.
"We have no choice." Matt says and he turns to look to Allen. "We'll need to go in after him as soon as possible."
Kaori and Igneous cling to Allen's pant legs.
"Kaori and Igneous are much too young to go in there." Allen says.
Matt glances down to the other two then looks back to Allen. "We have no choice." He says. "It'll be safer if they stay with us."
Allen glances slightly away for a moment. He knows that it's dangerous to take them inside the building but it's even more dangerous to just leave them out here unattended especially when there are beasts involved. He sighs then turns back to Matt. "Alright." He agrees then looks to the two clinging to his pant legs. "Igneous will come with me. Kaori you go with Matt." He says as he looks to one then the other. "Ok?"
The two nod.
"Good." Matt says as the other three turn to look to him. "Then let's grab our weapons and head in."
The group makes sure they have everything and do a very small test to make sure the weapons work.
"Stay close to me or Matt." Allen commands to Igneous and Kaori. "And no running away."
Kaori and Igneous nod to say that they understand.
"Let's do this." Matt says and they begin jogging towards the building.
Carefully stepping inside where they saw Mello enter they pause for a moment to look around to try to determine which way to go.
"I'll take the turn not blocked by a fallen in wall rubble and you go straight ahead." Allen says looking to Matt.
Matt looks to Allen with a determined nod in agreement. "And once we find Mello and or Near we get out as fast as we can." He adds. "We should make the latest time being just before the sun starts to set at the latest but about the afternoon at the least giving us tonight as well as half of tomorrow to look. If the sun starts to set and not all of us are out we'll declare them as now beasts. It'll be dark in here probably so light a piece of wood or something when it starts to get too dark."
Allen nods in agreement with that.
The two groups split up like that.
Matt and Kaori going straight ahead and Allen and Igneous letting the other wo pass before going down the hall on the side the other two had been standing on.
Let the hunt for Mello and Near begin.

Matt and Kaori are walking along through a hallway staying alert for any signs of danger.
Kaori has one hand clutching one of Matt's pant legs as they continue walking.
"It's smells pretty abandoned." Matt says mostly to himself as he glances to one side to look at the wall.
"Does that mean there won't be any monsters here?" Kaori asks looking up at Matt looking scared.
Matt pauses, so does Kaori when the red head stops, and looks down to Kaori. "I cannot say for sure." He says and Kaori looks down like 'oh….'. "But just stay close to me. I'll protect you." He says with a smile as he slightly lifts the flamethrower looking gun thing that is the weapons they had built with the limited material they had it doesn't look perfect or award winning but it works.
Kaori looks back to Matt with a grateful smile. She nods and leans closer to Matt as she glances to her left to watch for any beasts.
The two continue walking down the hall.
….
Allen and Igneous have walked for a little bit and are now at a turn with a way to turn in either direction which makes them pause.
Allen looks down one turn then down the other.
They look pretty much the same except some destruction is different and some door placements is different but other than that they pretty much look the same.
"Where to?" Igneous asks.
"Um." Allen isn't actually sure as he keeps looking back and forth between the two ways to go. "Well…" He says trying to decide until he decides that the turn right looks to possibly head deeper into the building due to it's direction. "Right." He leads Igneous down the right turn. "They usually hide people deep in the buildings they are being held captive in."
Igneous nods remembering some TV shows he had seen before this whole beast take over thing happened.

Mello looks around himself and takes a right turn deeper into the building. He pauses when he finds closed door just in front of him on the walls of the halls. He wonders which to try first.
Suddenly a shadow falls over him for a few seconds.
His eyes widen and the shadow moves towards the wall. He spins around only to find no one there… Just the paths he had taken as well destroyed parts of the building. "Who's there!?" He demands as he takes a few steps in that direction looking for any signs of anyone. "Answer me! Or you'll regret it!" He raises the weapon he has so it's ready to strike. He looks around the corner that he had turned down before he had paused. He looks carefully but there's no sign of anyone. He wonders if it was his imagination. He turns to head back to what he is doing. "I don't have time to dawdle." He says to himself as he goes back to the two doors. He heads to the one on the right opening it to an empty room with some file cabinets in it. He closes the door and goes to the door on the left.
Opening it to a very dimly lit area.
He tries to see what's in the darkness.
Some sort of soft almost disembodied whispering sounds are heard coming from the room for a few seconds then stops.
Mello wonders what's in this room and is about to enter it to find out. "Near?" He tries calling into the room.
