Chapter 7: Getting Back Together
It was the next day after Rafael told his plan to Eva, Nico, and Pedro and now it was time to set it in motion.
First, Eva went to Jewel.
"Hi Jewel, how are you?"
"I'm fine, I'm just getting ready to search for my first date."
"Well, I thought maybe that you and I could search together at the samba club for your date."
Jewel was confused. "I thought you were against me for doing this, now you support it."
"Well I realize you are right and I thought I could say sorry for helping you find someone."
"Well, okay." Jewel said somewhat confused.
Meanwhile, Rafael flew to Blu, who was looking ever the more so terrible, just spending his days crying and sitting in one spot for hours, Blu was on the brink of total collapse.
"Hi, Blu, how are you?"
Blu did not even shout, but replied in a weak tone. "What do you think?"
Rafael knew he needed to hurry if he was going to save his friend. "Well, Blu, to be honest you look terrible."
"Thanks, that's what I really needed to hear." Blu sighing.
"Come on Blu, you can't sit here all your life. Tell you what, I have a surprise for you at the samba club."
"Really, just for me."
"Just for you."
Some part of Blu's mind still had a little happiness left and it burst out. "Well I guess it will not hurt to at least see."
"Good, but before we go, can you please wash up."
Blu laughed weakly. "Okay."
Back at the samba club, Nico and Pedro were busy making the club looked exactly like the day that Blu and Jewel first walked in, made sure the music was the same and all the same people were there, they wanted it to be perfect. The two party birds actually finished the last touches when Jewel and Eva walked in the club.
"Wow looks exactly like the time…" Jewel started, but than swallowed at the painful memory, to the excitement of Nico and Pedro, they knew they did a good job.
"Enough talk, lets go." Eva pulled Jewel's wing."
The two danced and had a fun time, but Eva, sticking to the plan, had to pull Jewel away each time she got to close to another boy.
Finally Eva saw Blu and Rafael walk in.
"So what's the surprise, Rafi?" Blu asked, not even seeing Jewel or even noticing what the club looked like.
"Well I thought that maybe some dancing and music will help you."
"Oh, okay." Blu said slowly.
"Just go have some fun, my friend."
Blu danced and had fun, but like Eva, Rafael had to pull Blu away when he got to close to a girl.
Soon, the two pairs of friends danced ever the more closer to each other, until Blu and Jewel literally bumped into each other.
"Hi, watch where you are going?" The two said at the same time, but saying that made them realize each other's voice and turned slowly. The two soon came face to face, not speaking.
Meanwhile, Rafael and Eva backed away, their part done in getting their friends back together, now it was Nico and Pedro's turn. Rafael gave them the cue and Nico and Pedro played the same exact song that made Blu and Jewel fall in love with each other.
"Hi, Jewel." Blu said, nervous.
"Hi, Blu." Jewel replied in the same way.
The two just stood there, until they heard a familiar song.
"That's our song, the day we first came here." Blu said slowly.
"It is." Jewel replied.
A few more seconds of awkwardness went more until Blu spoke up.
"Hey, listen Jewel, I been a real jerk. I did not know what I was thinking, I do not know if I did it out of revenge, anger, or jealously. But I know I made a stupid mistake, I know you will never forgive me, but at least know that I am sorry for what I did."
Jewel was impressed and could tell that Blu was being completely honest, she knew that he at least deserved a response from her, telling him what she really felt.
"I'm sorry too, Blu. To be honest, I started it, I am the jerk and I guess I'm not the most fun bird to be around, me being independent and all."
The two stood for a few more seconds in silence, thinking about what the other said.
Blu than spoke. "Well I guess I will be leaving."
"Wait, Blu" Jewel shouted, Blu turing around. "Want to dance with me."
Blu's heart than got a happy boost at the words. "It would be a pleasure."
The two danced together exactly like they did the first time they were in the club, but this time they actually got to the kiss.
"Do you think we can work together again, after all this?" Blu asked.
"Well it's going to take time and patience, but I think we can do it." Jewel answered in confidence.
Meanwhile, Rafael and Eva were on the side, holding each other and had big smiles, they were happy for their friends.
Nico and Pedro were also watching.
"Nico, you crying."
"It's a happy moment and I'm so emotional right now."
"Come here, let me give you a hug."
However, Nico's crying and affection were infectious and Pedro was crying.
Back with Blu and Jewel, the two continued to have a wonderful dance together, both happy they were back together.
