Epilogue

It was a rainy afternoon in the elven forest. The red sunset shone through the clouds and leaves.

I and several hundred elves stood around three caskets, which had just been lowered into the ground.

"With every wonder comes an evil. With every good comes a bad. Today we honor the four who died to save Terraria. Today we honor the hero's guide, the nurse, the wizard, and the legendary Logrolf. They all lost their lives in the final hours before Terraria was saved. Let us remember them by the sacrifice they made, and their role in the salvation of Terraria!" the high priest of the elven gods said solemnly. "And now let us pray that their souls rest in peace, and that their sacrifices are honored in the afterlife."

All the elves bowed at once. The only sound was that of the rain splashing against the ground, and the wind blowing through the trees. I hoped their sacrifices would never be forgotten.

When I finally returned to the village, I noticed that the land was no longer hallowed. It was pure, free of corruption or hallow.
The villagers greeted me with open arms and laughs. There might not have been a lot of us left, but we were still a village.
Soon, some citizens from the elven forest began moving in, drawn in by the tales of the man who founded it. A weaponsmith, a crafter of explosives, an honest merchant, a powerful spellcaster, a renowned healer, and a peaceful druid.

No one ever did come in place of Guide. The cloest we had was a prodigious young scholar who moved in to study the many magical items I had acquired. She'd occasionaly give me a little advice, but never like Guide.
All I can say about that is that no one will ever replace Guide. It takes a special kind of person to do that kind of work. The kind of work you aren't credited for, the kind you're never paid for. The kind where you're death isn't likely, it's inevitable. And hey, with the hero always upstaging you, you don't get much time to shine. I think my Guide might have been the only person ever to be cut out for that...

The End.

Vald's story is over now. It's been a lot of fun writing it, and while I've had my doubts, it all came out good in the end. So thanks for all the support- it was part of what kept me writing this!

While Vald's adventure through Terraria has ended, the story of Terraria has just begun. I'm not done with fanfiction, nor will I be any time soon.
In other words, while this story is over, I'll be writing more. I doubt Vald will get be getting much more time in the spotlight, but you'll probably be seeing some familiar faces in my fanfictions to come.

I hope you enjoyed the story. Happy writing!
