Chapter 7. ~Kaori~
It was now 17 o clock and I was awake. That was nothing special since we had to get up in half an hour anyway. The special thing was that I was awayke for 4 hours now staring at the stain on the ceiling… I could sleep until 13 o clock but as I woke up my head was filled with thoughts of not passing, so that I couldn't get any more sleep. That was frustrating and my back hurt but I didn't lose the hope to get at least a bit sleep. I had given up now and sang in my head just to prevent it to be filled with those thoughts.
Shoujotachi yo mou sugu yoake ga kuru
„Don't you have other songs? I eventually hate every song I have as an alarm" Misaki groaned from the bed next to me.
„I'm SO sorry, but I'm afraid you have to change rooms then" Aya answered coldly „Since I'm the only one with an alarm on my phone…"
„Well, then I'll head right to Mariko and tell her to transfer me"
„See you then…or maybe see you not then"
„Yes, I bet Mariko-sama will be v-e-r-y delighted to transfer a girls who doesn't like the song Mariko-sama sang herself."
Aya chuckled. „Sure"
„Did you all sleep?" I asked.
„Yes..." Aya and Misaki said at once.
„Didn't you?" Minami asked.
„I couldn't sleep after I wokep at about 13 o clock „I'm so tired"
With that words I climbed down the stairs and headed to the mirror.
My shoulder long red hair has gotten longer, why didn't I notice before? But it looked good. Maybe I really could become an idol. Well, I would know in half an hour. The only thing that didn't look very idollike were my dark circles around the eyes. Well even if I would become an idol I still needed sleep. I sighed about this thought.
„Are you nervous?" Aya asked me, grabbing my shoulder and I watched her in the mirror.
She looked cute with her blonde twintails and her little stature. So much cuter than me who was completely normal. Even if I didn't pass she would become a great idol.
„Yes, aren't you?"
„Yes, I am but don't worry until she doesn't say your name"
„Well, if she doesn't say your name it's too late for worrying, right!" Misaki placed her hand on my other shoulder. „Are you really that nervous?"
„Don't worry" Aya tried to reassure me. „If one of us passes it would be you, Kaori"
„Girls, it's a quarter to six, let's go" Minami came out of the bathroom. „And Kaori the girls are right, if one of our group would pass it would be you. At least it wouldn't be that Hikari" She mumbled the last sentence and I couldn't quite hear it but I think she said that. We got out of the room and went to the cantine. We had been here only for one day but we knew exactly which way to go.
All the girls came from different directions and we could feel the nervousity in the atmosphere.
We sat down at our usual table with Umi and Yui who were –as usual- already there.
„Soo do you think you'll pass?" Yui grinned at us
„I don't know but I hope" I tried to sound a bit confident but it didn't really work…
„Well, we were the last group. Dancing with Yuka was kind of creepy, nee Umi?"
Umi nodded wildly. „I think she's just….
„…a bit too confident" Yui finished her sentence. I hadn't noticed how perfectly they matched together and I wondered if me and Aya looked like this as well.
„But she's not bad I think she'll pass" The two of them made a disgusting face.
„Please don't" Aya placed her head on the table dramatically.
„Do you hate her that much?" said Umi confused.
We looked at her confused too. I didn't like her much too after that incident in the corner but since when was Aya that enthusaistic about hating people?
„Well, I din't tell you but…"
Aya told us the story from that evening while poking in her salad, not looking in her face.
„Why didn't you tell us?" I was shocked and hurt. She was my best friend why didn't she told me? Didn't she trust me? Didn't she wanted to seem weak next to me? Why?
„You were all so worried I didn't want to worry you even more? It's nothing special. I don't really care I just don't want to be really in a team with her, you know?"
„Yes, of course but you can tell us everything, okay? No, you HAVE to tell me everything. If she passes and we too we won't lose to her. She will regret everything she said to you" I said and clenched my fist.
„Kaori, you're such a great friend and you're right, we won't lose to this …" Aya chuckled.
„Well, seems we're interrupting a very moving moment of your friendship…" Umi laughed.
I had completely forget the others and had to laugh too.
„Girls, are you all done eating?"
A yes went through the cantine.
„Great, then let me announce the results from the the first of the final auditions" Takamina smiled cheerfully.
„The ones whose names I don't call will be brought back tomorrow to their home planet. You'll meet Yuko at 8 o clock in the entrance hall, okay?Of course you can eat breakfast with us at six o clock. I just wanted to mention this. But now we'll come to the shining twenty girls who passed this auditions. We'll start training at 7 o clock. You have to learn much in this three weeks before the very final audition where we send again eleven of you home, so I'll advise you to give your best, but I don't think it will be a problem. We've made a great decision. I'll now read the names, please be quiet until I'm done. The order has nothing to do with your talent by the way."
Hoshino Umi, -I hearda gulp- Kurozawa Yuka, –another gulp next to me- -following three girls I didn't know-, Kiro Aya, Aomiya Misaki, Yoshida Yui, -two girls I didn't know-, Nishikino Hikari, –Minami groaned- Mizuki Sachiko, Yamada Hime, -four girls I didn't know-, Akane Kaori –YESS!- Sato Kana" Takamina took a deep breath „And at last…the only girl sharing the same name like me" She grinned. „ Sakura Minami. Well, that was everything. Now you can go to sleep, see you tomorrow at six o clock"
Minami disappeared through the door behind her.
She had said we could be loud after she was done saying our names, it had been good to announce this, I mean 20 girls cheering and and about 40 girls crying would be so loud that we wouldn't understand anything Takamina said. Right? Yes.
…
It was completely quiet. When I heard her name I had grabbed Ayas hand and I hadn't let go of it until now. I could just stare at my plate where the half eaten salad layd.
It was just too much happiness for me. After five minutes of staring I had finally understood. We passed and our dream would go on. Slowly the desire to cheer on us came to my mind but that wouldn't have been fair and it would have been strange, because it was so quiet so I held it back and I think my friends thought the same. I think they saw too how in a corner of the cantine our new made friens Kana was reassuring a red haired girl –that had to be that Maki, of which she had spoken- who was crying. She didn't pass and I realised once again how grateful I should be.
„Well, wanna go in our room?" Minami asked us finally with a grin.
„Great idea" I grinned back.
„We'll going too" It was hard to tell whether Umi or Yui was grinning more.
„Yaattaaaa!" We all screamed in one voice after we finally closed the door.
Aya threw herself on me and we both fell to the ground where we couldn't stop laughing. Misaki and Minami were dancing and singing loudly, well, it was more jumping than dancing. Unfortunately in our direction. With a loud scream they tripped over us and landed on the floor next to us.
„We're not very idol- like" Misaki said giggling as we reassured ourselves a little bit.
I turned to her next to me. „Imagine they had cameras in here" This idea was kind of creepy.
„Well, I think we would be the stars of the ship…I mean everyone would have something to laugh, right?" Minami said getting up. „Girls we really passed. I can't believe it, can you?"
„I'm every secod afraid of the alarm tells me it was everything was a dream" I really was, even if it sounded kind of strange.
„Yes, and then we'll go to the cantine and find out we all could fly home tomorrow" Aya got up too.
„Please don't. I think I would really hate this song then" Misaki groaned also getting up. I did so too even if it wasn't that uncomfortable on the floor, maybe also because deep inside I was dead tired but as if I could sleep now.
