~~~~~~~~~~~LINE BREAK~~~~~~~~~~
I do not own Percy Jackson or the Kane Chronicles.
Fanfic1892 – Happy to hear that you're liking my story so far.
Nessa11997 – Glad to hear it.
Sorry that it's been a few weeks but I've been working on my other story but I'm back and we're good. Oh, and I apologize in advance because I has not read all of the Son of Sobek so if any references are wrong please don't get offened.
TJ's PoV.
Carter recovered first and didn't want any more discussion on it until we were back at Brooklyn House. We just left the school from lunch and didn't even finish out the day which I had no problem with. It took some convincing to get Percy to come too and his reluctance never left. Soon we were all gathered at the 21st Nome on the balcony. Percy kept fidgeting like he didn't want to be here which was understandable, who would want to be surrounded by powerful magicians when you've probably been on your known your whole life.
"So, what happened?" Sloan got right to the point.
"It was when we went on a fieldtrip to the Metropolitan Museum of History." Nancy started telling us. "We were eating lunch at the time and we were…..talking." she looked like she was editing some of the story as she told it and glanced at Percy told me I was right. "Suddenly I found myself in the fountain and I told one of the teacher's there that Percy pushed me." Once again she paused like she didn't know how to continue.
"Didn't your mother teach you how to treat a lady?" The same woman who scolded Nancy my first day, Mrs. Nelton I later learned, asked Percy disapprovingly.
"Yes she did and in my defense Nancy deserved it." He answered her. "Plus, I didn't push her."
"But she just said…" I tried to say but he cut me off.
"She said that she told the teacher that I pushed her not that I actually did. Wording is important." As he spoke he pulled a pen out of his pocket and started twirling it around. He still looked nervous but I could tell that it was something else too but I could think of anything that would make him fidgety.
"Then why..?" Jazz started to ask and Nancy answered before she could finish the question.
"What else was I supposed to say? They wouldn't have believed me if I had told them the water grabbed me." She sat back and crossed her arms looking out over the river to Manhattan. That revelation raised a few eyebrows.
"Pretty sure Mrs. Dodds knew what happened anyway." Percy told her.
"You're still convinced we had a teacher named Mrs. Dodds?" Nancy asked. "I've told as did a lot of others that there was never a teacher named Mrs. Dodds at Yancy. Why do you keep it up? I'm starting to think you're going crazy."
"To be honest I don't think I've ever been completely sane. At the time I thought I was going psycho though. But there was a Mrs. Dodds."
"Then why don't I remember her?" that was a fair point. Percy just shrugged. "Fine then where can I fine her if you're so sure she was there?"
"Hell." Before anyone come say anything to him about that comment a familiar voice came from the way of the stairs leading to the roof.
"TJ!" I looked over and saw my little sister running down the stairs and I got up to meet her. She has blue eyes and blonde hair in ringlets. The smile on her face when she gave me a hug was enough to make my day. My parents came down the stairs after her as well as my great aunt.
"What are all you doing here?" I asked them as I hugged each of them.
"I wanted to be with you for my birthday." Emily, my sister, answered. She would be turning ten this week and I had almost forgotten. Almost.
"And it's great that your brother is here too..." My aunt started to say but I stopped her.
"Wait, my brother?"
"Why yes. He is sitting right there." She pointed to Percy. "It's Perseus, isn't it?" Percy's expression was unreadable as she said this.
"I prefer Percy and I have never been told anything concerning a brother. So if someone would explain that to me it would be appreciated." He said without breaking eye contact with our aunt.
"I suppose your mother would not have told you." Father said to him. "I guess I will tell you then."
When my adopted dad finished telling Percy about how he took me to raise me away from each other because we were too powerful to keep together. I expected him to punch dad in the face, which I know I would have done it had been my brother. Surprisingly he didn't. However he did have one thing to say.
"So you lied to my mom?" He deadpanned.
"Really, that's the only thing you picked up out of that whole thing?" I asked him. "That he lied?"
"No I heard the other stuff too but the lying to the nicest person to ever live is what I care about most out of that entire thing." My brother clarified.
"What difference does that make?"
"It makes all the difference. If you had met her you would understand. She still loves me even after all the stupid stuff I've done." Percy said with a shrug.
"Like you blowing up the Gateway Arch?" Felix spoke up.
"Yeah." Everyone stared at him hoping it was a joke but no punch line came. "What?"
"You BLEW UP a national monument!" Cleo shouted at him. "Are you mad? Why would you do such a thing?"
"It was the monster's fault and it was only the observation deck that was destroyed which was about to close anyway. Only one person got hurt." He rolled his eyes at her. "You also kind of sound like my girlfriend. She's still mad at me for that."
"Well at least one of you has some sense." Matt said.
"And a wicked right hook as you may recall, Sloan." A mischievous grin appeared on my brother's face as he addressed his old classmate.
"Your right hook isn't that good."
"I was referring to my girlfriend."
"I've never met her."
"Sure you have. Or do you not remember getting knocked out by her on the last day of seventh grade?"
"Ouch, you just got burned Sloan." Sean said. Sloan grumbled something to himself.
"It was totally entertaining." The grin on Percy's face got bigger at Matt's expression. Then Matt's expression hardened as he addressed Percy.
"At least I don't destroy buildings for the fun of it. And you want to know something Jackson?" I could hear the anger in his voice.
"Not from you." Percy was still grinning.
"To bad. You need to know that in the House of Life, strength is respected." Before anyone could react Matt was on his feet and pointing his pocket knife at my brother. "Should we see if you have what it takes to train as one of us?" Most of us were shocked at Matt's outburst, the only exception being Percy whom just looked at the blade with a look of disgust.
"What is that?" He asked and I looked at him with a shocked expression because, really, how could anyone not know what a knife is?
"Matt, put that away." One of the other adults told him. "There is no reason to test him today."
"I doubt he could even handle the testing if he doesn't even know what a knife is." Matt replied, still glaring at Percy and waiting for a reaction to the insult. He didn't have to wait long as Percy cocked an eyebrow at him and after a moment started laughing. Once again everyone was shocked by the way he reacted.
"Really, Sloan? Are you so pathetic as to think that that thing is intimidating? If you want to challenge me to a fight at least get a proper weapon to do so. Because that is just insulting to the profession of a warrior." The way that Percy said it made it seem like he had dealt with worse and it was truly insulting to be threatened with a pocket knife. It also sounded like an insult to Matt as well. Not waiting for any reply from Matt, Percy turned to Carter. "So last time we met you gave me the basics of what you were but what exactly do you guys do here? What are you?"
"We're relearning the path of the gods." Sadie answered instead. "I'm the Eye of Isis. We here at the Brooklyn House are the blood of the pharos."
"No idea what that means but 'relearning' as in it hasn't been done in a while." It wasn't a question, it was a statement. At Carter's nod he asked something else. "Why?"
"Well back in ancient times magicians learned the path of a god and could sometimes even host that god." Carter started to explain. "But it all kind of fell apart when the romans invaded and Egypt fell for the Second time."
"Second?" Percy asked a bit confused.
"The first time was to Greece." Walt answered with a touch of bitterness in his voice which might have been from Anubis.
"So which do you guys hate more, Greeks or Romans?" It seems my brother noticed it too.
"Greeks." Walt's form flickered to Anubis's and it was a little satisfying to see a look of shock on Percy's face. Until he spoke.
"Wow. If I didn't know any better I would say that you were my cousin Nico's older brother. You look almost exactly like him."
"Percy you getting off topic." I reminded him.
"Sorry." With Percy's apology Cater continued with the story with the others occasionally adding in bits of information. They explained how the house blamed the gods for the fall of Egypt and locked them away and how Carter and Sadie's parents started to release the gods. Percy never seemed surprised at anything, not the fight they had with Set, or waking Ra from his sleep, or even defeating a giant chaos snake. Then they told him about Walt hosting Anubis.
"So you're a death god?" My brother asked him and I couldn't tell what Percy thought of that info.
"Yes." Anubis replied still a bit miffed about the whole Greek topic earlier. "And if you have a problem with it then I will just send you to the other underworld when you die and see how well you like them over there."
"Wait. There's more than one underworld?" one of the trainees, Alyssa I think, asked.
"Yes, just like there's other gods there's another underworld but we try not to interfere with each other. Which is why we tend to stay away from Manhattan." The god somewhat explained. Percy was still fidgeting and dad noticed it too.
"Percy, are you ok you keep fidgeting?" he asked him.
"I'm ADHD so it's nearly impossible for me to sit still for more than a few minutes. Unless something really entertaining is going on." That explains it.
"Hmm, TJ's ADHD too. I wonder if there's a reason that both of you have it. Usually siblings don't have the same problems like that." Dad thought to himself for a moment as my brother went back to twirling his pen. "Don't you take medication for it? You'll find that it will be easier to focus on your school work and such."
"Why would I take medication? Yeah it sucks to be impulsive 99.8 percent of the time and wind up getting in trouble because of it but it keeps me alive in a fight." Percy said and I looked at Percy like he came from another planet.
"You know Percy, teachers usually prefer kids with ADHD to be on medication. Plus you'd get in less trouble for doing impulsive stuff as you put it." I told him and he throw his hands up in the air.
"Of course teachers want us medicated. Most of them are monsters in the first place." He said it as if it were obvious.
"I think your brother's crazy." Julian whispered to me and I just nodded in agreement.
"Percy I know that teachers like torturing students with homework but that doesn't make them monsters." Walt tried reasoning with him.
"That's what you think. Well I should get going mom would kill me if I'm late for movie night." He said as he got up from the table.
"You're leaving?" I looked at him slightly panicked as I didn't want him to disappear on me even though I had just met him.
"It's not going to be forever TJ. I talk to you soon though."
"Where do you live? Maybe I could come see you?" He visibly cringed when I asked him.
"I don't think they'll let you come to Manhattan." Then he went to the edge of the balcony and jumped over the rail to the river below. Over at the rail I saw my brother running over the surface of the river before he made his way up the wharf and into the city. However there was only thing I could think to say.
"He's a water elementalist."
Really sorry it took so long to get this to all of you but I was really busy. There should be more on the way soon though. I was working on three different chapters at the same time which is really hard when you have no idea how the other chapters are going to end.
I think I'm getting better at writing longer chapters.
