~~~~~~~~~~~LINE BREAK~~~~~~~~~~~~
NinjaSquirrel1912 – I'm so glad you liked it and thanks for reviewing.
fanfic1892 – I also hate it when secrets are revealed too soon as well. Secrets are what keep people interested in the story. Thanks for reading.
So the other chapters I had been working on when I last posted I didn't like so I scraped them and came up with something I thought would flow better through the chapters. Sorry it took so long.
TJ's PoV.
"That's interesting." Anubis said and I really wish he would make up his mind between Walt and Anubis because the constant switching back and forth was driving me nuts. "I've never heard of an elementalist being able to do that. Especially at that age."
"Wow." My little sister said beside me. "That's so cool." I looked down at and I noticed that she was thinking about something. "TJ….don't you have water powers too?" Everyone turned to look at me.
"You're a water elementalist?" Julian asked and I nodded. "How come you never told us?"
"Mainly because I haven't used those powers in a long time and partly because I doubt any of you would be able to teach me how to control it."
"You fear your power." Zia said and I realized that she wasn't asking, she was stating a fact.
"That obvious?" She laughed at my pain expression.
"Why would you be afraid of it? Water is the easiest of the elements to learn." Matt, who is a water elementalist, said. "I could teach you."
"Thanks for the offer Matt but I don't think that would help me learn how to control it." I told him.
"TJ, honey, you will learn. Just give it time and keep trying." My mother said. "You'll figure it out."
"Yeah bro, don't knock it until you try it." Julian said. "But what problems do you have with your water powers?"
I had to think about how to phrase the answer without my panic taking over. "Well….for starters they're more connected to my emotions." They gave me the 'well duh' look because Egyptian magic is also connected to emotions. "So negative emotions kill magic right?" at this they nodded. "But mine tend to be activated by those emotions. Anger is the biggest one. If someone gets me angry enough then anything that has water in it or just the water itself will start exploding or something like it."
"I bet that's what happened at the museum." Nancy muttered.
"Anything else, TJ?" Carter asked.
"I have no control with how big my powers do things. Like if I want just a three foot wave it ends up being like ten feet or bigger."
"I can see how that could be a problem." Matt commented. "We'll work on that."
"Yeah those are the problems I can do something about. My main problem on the other hand, I don't even know why it happens." My voice began to weaver a bit at the end. Emily gave me a hug because she knew what my worst problem is, as do my parents. Thinking about it brought back the memories of the burning.
"What is it?" I couldn't tell who asked. I took a deep breath before I answered.
"You know that burning feeling you get when you over extend your powers." I asked them and a few of them nodded. "It's kind of like that but worse and it doesn't happen when I over use my water powers." Pausing so they could take information in before I continued. "It happens every time I try to use my staff and wand with them."
"It can't be that bad." One of the other trainees said, I still don't know all of their names.
"He's gone into a coma three different times from it." Mom said. "We still have no idea why this phenomenon happens after all these years." I wouldn't look at anyone.
"That's pretty big." Sadie said.
"No wonder you're afraid of your powers." Zia stated.
"That shouldn't happen." Walt finally spoke up and it kind of sounded like someone was talking with him, that might have been Anubis. I laughed without humor.
"You're telling me that? What also has me confused is that when I don't use my staff or wand when I use my water powers I'm fine other than being a bit drained." That had them even more shocked. "It's just…so frustrating not knowing why."
"We'll do some research, so let's just focus on regular studies until we figure it out, ok?" Cater said and I nodded.
"I still want to see what he's capable of with his water powers." Matt said.
"I'll show you later." He nodded and I turned to Felix. "So I guess it was my brother you met back in St. Louis." And he nodded. "How long ago was that anyway?"
"About five summers ago." He answered.
"Wait five summers?" Nancy asked.
"Yes, why?" Felix looked at her curiously.
"That would have been the summer after 6th grade." She said and we all thought about that.
"So Percy has been out there on his own fighting monsters and stuff for at least five years?" Julian asked. "That explains why he didn't flinch when Matt pulled out his knife on him."
"I don't think he was on his own." Walt said. "No one who is that powerful could make it on their own for that long."
"Maybe he's that powerful because he's been on his own that long." Cleo suggested. "Then again how would he have known about the teachers and monsters?"
"He could have also just made it up because Sadie also calls the teachers monsters." Carter said and earned himself a hit from his sister. "What was that for?"
"Nothing. I just wanted to hit you."
No one spoke for a long time. Me, I was gazing out across the river to Manhattan wondering when I'll see my brother again. For some reason I felt that he knew the answers I was looking for. But at the same time I wasn't sure I wanted to ask him.
Oh I decided to bring To Blind One Gently as my beta to help me edit and so all previous chapters are edited and all future ones will be too. Hopefully.
