I do not own Percy Jackson or the Kane Chronicles.

TJ's PoV.

Percy sat next to me and let me cry on his shoulder for an hour at least before I managed to pull myself together. His words were playing through my head. Giving you the answers makes those answers invalid. Sounds like something a seer would say after giving you a confusing nonsense prophecy that predicts your death. As I started to pull away he unwrapped his arms from around me. You have to find your own path. How was I supposed to do that if I don't even own who I really am? Then I thought about the bits and pieces I had. According to Percy our father has bad history with the House. So the answers are in the past. In my dream Anubis had said something about foreign magic. Then that brings up the question of who in the past had their own gods that were foreign to Egypt that also had their own magic and have a bad history with us?

I looked out across the river to see the Empire State building standing tall in the skyline. My brother didn't say anything which I was kind of grateful for because I didn't trust myself to speak. Also, I was kind of embarrassed to have been crying. Before my brother sat down next to me I was angry, sad, afraid, confused, panicked, and felt like I couldn't trust anyone. All of those emotions boiled inside of me and my magic responded to them. First the pluming exploded when my anger got the best of me when I was yelling at Mr. Masterrsyn, I no longer felt like I could call him father, then I almost destroy the balcony because I couldn't pull my magic or emotions under control. Now I didn't know what I was feeling.

"How could you tell that I was about to destroy the balcony?" I asked him, my voice barely a whisper.

"It started shaking slightly. Only really noticeable if you're actually looking for it." he replied easily.

"How do you control it?" I finally looked over at him and found him gazing at Manhattan like I was.

"Our powers or the emotions?" the side of his mouth twitched in a slight smile.

"Both." He laughed and I couldn't help but smile. "But seriously, how do you do it?"

"You can't control what you feel. They're not thoughts."

"How?" I demanded.

"What you want to know is not control but suppression. Yes you can suppress your emotions and magic for a time but the backlash will be far worse than what happened this morning. It will do you more harm than good. It's like putting a dam on a river. For a time it will hold the water back, but nothing lasts forever. The dam will eventually break and there is nothing that will stop the torrent of water from crushing everything in its path." Percy's eyes darkened like the sea before a storm and looked like he was somewhere else. I got the feeling he wasn't talking to me anymore.

"Percy?" I asked as gently as I could and I lightly put a hand his shoulder. I felt him flinch slightly at my touch. "Are you okay?" The distant look in his eyes disappeared as he turned to look at me and he gave me a small smile but I could tell it was forced.

"Depends on what you mean by okay?" That got me worrying for him. Before I could say anything else I noticed Liz and Emma coming through the balcony doors and make their way over to us. They had changed clothes as I had soaked everyone's who was there when I blew out the pipes.

"Hey, TJ." Emma greeted. "Hi, Percy." Liz waved.

"Hey." Both my brother and I said at the same time. The two girls looked between the two of us with perplexed expressions.

"Wow." Liz finally said. "I thought twins only did that in like books and movies and stuff."

"Do you finish each other's sentences too?" Emma asked.

"I'll get back to you on that. What do you need?" I asked politely and Emma handed me a steaming mug and I smelled nutmeg. I took it and drank a sip and to my pleasure tasted hot chocolate with a bit of honey, cinnamon and nutmeg. (You, readers, should try it sometime and make sure you put cream in as well. It tastes awesome. XD Just make sure you only use a little bit of the spices.)

"Mrs. Masterrsyn made it for you. She said it was your favorite." Emma said. The two girls seemed hesitant and apprehensive.

"Sorry if I scared you." I told them and they both smiled.

"It's ok. You didn't mean to do it. Most of the damage has been mended. Everything is still just a bit damp." Liz spoke up, trying for a smile.

"So you guys can come back in now if you want to." Emma added.

"You two are regular mortals, right?" Percy asked them. They nodded.

"Being around all of you that have magic powers kind of make us feel useless." The red head said, looking at the floor.

"One of my close friends is a regular mortal and she has saved my sorry but more times than I'd like to admit. She'll forever have my permanent respect from when she saved my life by nailing an immortal in the eye with her blue plastic hairbrush." We all looked at him.

"Seriously?" I asked him and he nodded. "Who?"

"Someone you hopefully will never have to meet." His tone turned hard. Then he shook himself out of it. "So you ready to go back in?" he asked me.

"You'll help me if I lose my temper again, right?" I looked at him pleadingly.

"Of course," he smiled, "but between us you all should be more worried about me losing my temper."

"Do I want to know?" Liz asked.

"Probably not." He replied. "I do have this wonderful way to avoid losing my temper too often, though, so it takes quite a bit to get me to that point. Come on, I want to have some words with a doctor." When he stood up he offered me a hand. After a moment I grabbed it and he helped me to my feet.

"You're not going to hurt him are you?" Emma asked as the two girls followed us back inside. My brother didn't answer which was kind of irritating. Once inside I had to stifle a laugh, there in the middle of the Great room was my adopted mother scolding the Mr. and he didn't even have the decency to look ashamed. That made me glare.

"Not only have you kept this from him but you kept it from me as well!" Mrs. Masterrsyn shouted. "For seventeen years!"

"You didn't need to know." he told her firmly. "And neither did he."

"Didn't need to know?!" his wife shrieked. "Your choice enslaved him to the house and you have the nerve to say that he didn't need to know about it?" He didn't even flinch at her words. "Do you have no decency?"

"I saved his life!"

"You condemned his life!" she took a deep breath. "This is it, Richard. This is the last straw. I'm not going to put up with you and your behavior any longer. We're getting divorced and don't you dare even think about trying to take Emily. She's staying with me." They glared at each other for a minute before Richard tur to see me standing at the patio doors.

"I suppose you're staying here?" He asked coolly, but I could tell he knew my answer to that.

"Yes." I told him just as coolly. Without another word he swept towards us and we all moved aside and he started out the door.

"Oh, Mr. Masterrsyn." Percy said and he paused next to my brother to glare at him. "Our father is angry at you for stealing from him. If you value your life stay away from any beaches or oceans in general." The smile on my brother's face sent chills down my spine and Mr. Masterrsyn vanished out the door to use the portal on the roof. "So I take it that he's done some pretty bad stuff in the past." Percy walked over to one of the sofas and plopped down on it.

"Yes." My adopted mother said sitting down next to him. I walked over and joined them. Liz and Emma disappeared upstairs.

"So what do you want us to call you now? Since it doesn't seem like you want to stay Mrs. Masterrsyn." Percy asked. I just drank my hot chocolate, not wanting to talk.

"You can call me Aletta di Angelo."
