TJ's PoV.
It's been almost a week since I last saw my brother and figured out who my father is, and I was going out of my mind. Though that could also be because I stopped taking my ADHD meditation permanently. I really needed to ask Percy all of the questions that have been swirling around in my mind before it explodes. Also, I was getting really fidgety around people too and today someone said something about it.
"Is there a bomb about to go off or are you just getting paranoid?" Drew asked me as I was trying to fill out the history assignment we were supposed to be working together on but she just did her nails.
"What?" I looked at her in surprise.
"You've been getting fidgetier through out the week and I've been trying to figure out why." She said and finished painting the nails on her left hand a green color with a hint of blue in it.
"That's a nice color." I told her before I could stop myself.
"Thanks, but your off topic." She started painting her right hand.
"I've been wanting to ask Percy something incredibly important but I don't know how to get a hold of him." I turned back to the work sheet in front of me.
"What could be so important that it can't wait?"
"You wouldn't believe me if I told you. But you know him so could you please tell me how I could get in touch with him?"
"Use an IM. Hmm, you might not know what that is yet. I just know where he goes to school. If you want to know where he lives or his phone number you'll have to ask one of his close friends or Percy himself."
"Why do you know where he goes to school?" I asked, looking back up at her.
"So if me and Lacy ever get into too much trouble we'll know where to go for help. It's a half-blood thing, dear." That got my attention.
"Half-blood?" She didn't answer me, only finished up painting her nails.
"So are you going to ask me or not?" Drew finally asked.
"Ask you what?" I was confused now. She rolled her eyes at me.
"What school Percy goes to. If you're not going to ask, I'm not going to tell." She said as if it were obvious.
"Fine, what school does he go to?" I growled, but I was more irritated with the assignment than I was with her. I hate being dyslexic.
"Can you ask nicely?"
"My dearest Drew, can you please tell me what school Percy Jackson goes to?" I asked her in a falsely sweet voice.
"He goes to Goode High School, it's next to the East River. You done with the assignment yet?"
"No. It might get done faster if I had some help." I grumbled.
"What's the problem with doing it by yourself?"
"Let's see, one: I'm dyslexic, two: I have no clue about what most of the stuff on here is talking about, and three: we're supposed to be working on this together."
"You need the practice, and besides, you haven't asked me for help yet." I glared at her as she spoke. She glanced up at me and put on a face of innocence when she saw me glaring. "It's more than just wanting to talk to Percy, isn't it?"
"Why do you want to know so much?"
"I can tell that something is eating at you and I can be a great listener when I want to be, so tell me." Not waiting for a reply, she grabbed the legs of my chair and pulled me closer to her and had us facing each other. "Start talking." Her words drilled themselves into my brain and before I could stop myself I started to tell her.
"About a month ago the man who I used to call father told me that I was adopted. One reason I came to New York city was to find my birth family. Surprisingly, I did find them, thanks to you. Percy Jackson is my twin brother and I need to get a hold of him because I really have to ask him something about our father. All I know is that Percy lives with our mom and stepfather in Manhattan, I don't know where or what their telephone number is." I paused and ran my hands through my. "I'm sorry for being rude, I've just got a lot on my mind. So many changes in my life have occurred in the past month that I don't really know how to deal with it all."
"Hmm, that is a problem. You'll get used to changes, in time."
"Doesn't feel like it."
"How about for now we focus on getting you to forget about worrying about dealing with the changes. There's a dance in two weeks and I would love it if you would accompany me." Drew said with a devil's grin. My jaw dropped in surprise.
"W-what?"
"Would you like to go to the dance with me?" She tried again and it took me a few minutes to comprehend what she was asking. I couldn't get my voice to work so I just nodded slightly. "Excellent." The bell signaling the end of class sounded and everyone started packing up their stuff. "See you Monday, TJ." She winked at me and left the classroom. I sat there frozen for a minute and I saw a hand being waved in front of my eyes.
"Major Tom. Come in Major Tom." Walt said and I focused on him. "You ok?"
"What's a dance?" He gave me an odd look. "Drew asked me if I would go to the dance with her. So what the heck is a dance?"
"Why would you ever do something like that?" Sadie nearly yelled at me.
"I didn't know what it entitled. And it's only one night, right?" I asked, slightly afraid that she was going to use one of her favorite spells on me. For those who don't know Sadie very well, her favorite spells are on the more destructive and harmful side of the spectrum. We were sitting in our usual spot next to the lake with our friends. Alyssa and Jazz had explained to me what a dance was because Sadie was too busy with yelling at me for agreeing to go with Drew and Walt was laughing at me getting yelled at by Sadie.
"You're so naive, it's adorable." Alyssa said pinching my cheek.
"TJ, be prepared for people to judge you badly because of Drew and when she dumps you on your as-ow!" Julian was saying before Jazz hit him upside the head. "What was that for?"
"Watch your language." She told him.
"What else was I supposed to say?" I asked them.
"You could have told her that you didn't want to go. Or tell her that you don't want a date for the dance. Heck, you could have told her that you already had a date." Sadie explained.
"But I didn't. Besides, who would have gone with me anyway?" I demanded feeling slightly angry. Liz and Emma, who have been coming to school with us while they are here, both raised their hands without hesitation and Jazz and Alyssa also raised their hands. After another moment Nancy put her hand up too. Some of my anger went away. "Thanks, guys. But I told Drew I would go with her and I don't want to go back on what I said."
"In that case, if she breaks your heart we'll claw her eyes out." Nancy said and I raised an eyebrow at her. "You're a good guy, TJ. Anyone stupid enough to hurt you deserves to get their faces messed up." A small smile found its way onto my lips.
"Out of curiosity, did you and Drew talk about anything else?" Jeff asked, giving me a smirk.
"I got her to tell me what school Percy goes to."
"That's good." Cleo commented. "Which is it?"
"Goode High School, she said it's by the East River." Shock decorated the faces of my friends. "What?"
"That's the school that the dance is taking place at." Zia informed me.
"I guess that gives me another reason to go to the dance, if Percy doesn't show up again in the next two weeks then I can talk to him then. Right?" I perked up at the thought.
"Only if he goes to the dance as well." Carter deadpanned.
"Great." Carter looked like he wanted to say something else but lunch ended and we had to get to our next class. We parted ways and I was left with even more stuff on my mind.
