Lavon and Wade were sitting on the floor in Lavon's living room trying to get Wyatt to walk.
"Have you talked to her lately?" Lavon asked "Please say you have because AB has been spending all her free time with her and Lavon Hayes is feeling a little underappreciated, if you know what I mean."
"Yeah I get you, no more details necessary. But she came into the Rammer Jammer last night, first time I saw her in like 3 days, we talked a little."
"About what?"
"Just chit chat. She asked about Wyatt, said she might stop by tonight to see him. Other than that nothing important." He shrugged
"Ok, well that's good."
"Yeah I guess." He looked up at Wyatt who was just standing by the coffee table. "Come on Bud, walk."
"No" he said and threw a magazine
"Hey! What is wrong with you? Is he too little for time out?" he asked
"Uh probably although he's a little feisty lately."
"You noticed too? I don't know what is up with him."
"Maybe this is just him and he's finally comfortable enough to show it." Lavon laughed
"He's in for a lot of time outs if that's the truth."
"Well it just started right?"
"He's gotten worse in the last couple of days."
"You mean since Zoe stopped coming around?"
Wyatt's head snapped towards Lavon "Woey?" he said and started looking around
"Oops sorry."
Wade sighed. "No, no Zoe."
Wyatt sat down and threw his car at Lavon.
"Woah, not nice." Lavon told him
"I thought it was terrible twos not obnoxious ones."
Lavon laughed "No idea, he's your kid."
Wade looked at Wyatt and shook his head. "Can you not shove everything in your mouth?" he asked taking the Wii controller away from him.
"Hey" Lavon said taking it from Wade and wiping off the slobber. "Not food." He told Wyatt
Wyatt just laughed at him.
"Oh Wade?" Lemon called walking through the door
"Yeah?"
"How's my favorite partner?"
"Creeped out. What's up?"
"Hi Wyatt." She waved as she sat on the couch
"Hi" he waved back
"So Lemon, what's up?"
"Well I ran into Edward Fancie today and he is putting Fancies up for sale and wants me to buy it. Isn't that great? We can own the two restaurants in town."
Wade looked at her like she had 5 heads "I don't want to own Fancies."
"Why not? It's a great business opportunity."
"I hate Fancies and wouldn't even begin to know how to run it. The Rammer Jammer is my dream and I know what I'm doing there. You want Fancies, you buy it."
"What about the Rammer Jammer?"
"I'll buy you out."
"I guess that could work, are you ok with that?"
"Yeah I don't see why not plus The Rammer Jammer isn't your dream so shouldn't you be able to achieve your dream as well?"
Lemon nodded "Yeah, I guess so. Thanks Wade."
"No problem, but I'm gonna kick your butt in the numbers." He joked
Lemon laughed "We will see about that."
"Wow, you got the Rammer Jammer all to yourself. So now we can have those beach volleyball tournaments on the big screen?" Lavon winked
Wade laughed "Hell yeah!" he slapped Lavon five.
"Ugh men" Lemon shook her head and looked at Wyatt "Little Boy, you and me need to spend a lot of quality time together. We are going to teach you to be a sophisticated young man."
"Back away from my kid." Wade told her. "He's not going to be some Golden Boy like Tucker."
"Doc" Wyatt said and pointed to a picture on Lavon's end table "Doc, Doc, Doc."
"I think he misses her." Lavon laughed
"Ya think?" Wade rolled his eyes and wrapped his arm around the tiny toddler and pulled him onto his lap. "No Doc." He sighed and pointed to Lemon "Aunt Lemon"
Wyatt shook his head "No" he pouted "Doc"
"Sorry kid."
"What's going on with you Zoe?" Lemon asked
"She's distancing herself."
"Why?"
"Because we might have kissed a few days ago and now she needs to figure out what she wants."
Lemon nodded "Alright, so she'll let you know when? In a year?"
"No." Wade shot her a dirty look "Just drop it."
"Doc" Wyatt mumbled again
"Poor kid." Lavon smiled
That afternoon Lavon walked over to Annabeth's house.
"Big Z." he called walking in the door
"Hey Lavon." She smiled walking out of the kitchen
"How's life?" he asked
"Fine, what's up?" she asked
"I was just hanging with Wade and the little guy, he misses you."
"Wade?"
"No, Wyatt. He kept calling you, over and over. You can't say your name around him without him freaking out. You Zoe Hart are a horrible person." He smiled
"Oh shut up. I miss him too. I'll probably go see him tomorrow."
"What is the issue? You can't still be thinking all this over. Either you want to be with them or you don't. Wade's a changed man and he loves you."
"I know Lavon."
"But?"
"I don't want to screw it up again, this has to be it. Plus, I could never live with hurting Wyatt."
"Then talk to him, face to face. I'm going to put it out there, you two belong together actually you three belong together. Watching you three together was amazing, it was just so." He paused trying to think of the right word. "Perfect. You just clicked."
Zoe smiled "Yeah, I really miss them. We worked well together."
"Yeah you did, it was a sight to see."
"Tomorrow I'll go talk to them."
"Good, that kid is a monster lately."
"No he isn't" She chuckled
"He threw things at me Z. He was chewing on my video game controller."
She laughed "Well, he's a baby. They do things like that."
Lavon just nodded. "I know, it's just interesting that he started it after you left him."
"I didn't leave him." She yelled with a smiled "Don't make me feel bad."
"Abandon the little guy, what kind of doctor are you?" Lavon shook his head in disappointment but with a smirk on his face
"I hate you." She laughed
That night Zoe was getting ready for bed when her phone started to ring. A picture of Wade and Wyatt flashed on the screen and she couldn't help but smile.
"Hello?" she answered and heard screaming on the other end of the phone.
"Zoe, are you there?" Wade asked in a panic
Zoe was now in a panic as well. "Yes, I'm here. What's wrong?"
"It's Wyatt, he's screaming and bright red and hot as anything. I can't get his temperature though, he's just screaming. I don't know what's wrong."
Zoe jumped out of bed "I'll be right there, try and get him in a cool bath to get his fever down."
"Ok, thanks."
"Of course. I'll be right there."
Zoe hung up and quickly put on her boots and a jacket and ran out the door. She drove to Wade's and ran inside. She heard screaming from the bathroom and walked that way. Wyatt was soaked from head to toe and she couldn't tell if it was from the bath or sweat. Wade looked like a mess as well, he was sweating, his shirt was clinging to him and he looked helpless.
"Hey" she said and knelt down next to Wade. "How's he doing?"
"Feels cooler but still screaming." He shook his head
Wyatt calmed down a little bit when he realized she was there and got out a pitiful "Doc." As he reached his arms up for her to take him.
"Hi baby." She said as she wrapped a towel around him and picked him up out of the bath. "You are burning up." She carried him out of the bathroom and got him dressed in just a diaper and a onesie." He was still crying as she did this but wasn't screaming like he was. She took his temperature and sat with him on the couch as she dug through her bag.
"What's wrong with him?" Wade asked taking off his sweat soaked shirt and tossing it in the hamper
Zoe watched as he did this and smirked "I don't think he cares about your abs." Wade shot her a small smirk but the look of fear and concern never left his face. Zoe went back to doctor mode. "I'm not sure yet. Has he thrown up or anything?"
"No, he was fine all day, eating, drinking playing. He didn't start this until before when he was having his snack." He said putting on another shirt and sitting next to her on the couch.
"What did you give him?"
"A cookie, one of those graham cracker things he loves."
She looked down at Wyatt who had his entire hand practically in his mouth. She removed his hand and stuck her finger in his mouth. He started screaming when she ran her finger over a bump and bit down on her. "Ow" she yelped and pulled her finger out. "He has a couple teeth coming in."
"Ok" he said not seeing the significance of her comment.
"That's why he's screaming."
"You have got to be kidding me."
"It hurts. Would you like your gums being torn open by tiny sharp teeth?"
"No."
"Go get him Tylenol and his teething ring. You have any teething medicine?"
"I don't think so."
"That we can get tomorrow, the Tylenol should be good for tonight."
"Is he chewing on your finger?"
"Yes." She laughed
Wade got everything she asked for and then sat back on the couch. "So the fever is from teething too?"
"Yep." She said giving him the right dosage of medicine and handed him the teething ring.
Wade shook his head. "That's crazy."
"That's probably why he's been cranky lately and shoving things in his mouth." She started combing his damp hair with her fingers and he smiled up at her.
"How'd you know?"
"Lavon." She smiled and looked down at Wyatt who was chewing on his teething ring and his eyes were slowly starting to close. "I've missed him." She pulled him closer
"He missed you too. So did I." he looked down at his hands
Zoe looked at Wade and smiled "I missed you too." Wade smiled at her and went to speak.
"Mama" Wyatt mumbled through the teething ring and snuggled closer to her, laying his head on her chest and grabbing a fist full of her shirt as his eyes fully closed and the teething ring dropped from his mouth.
Zoe's eyes bugged but she couldn't help but smile. The shock wore off fast and was replaced with a feeling she has never felt before. She didn't know what it was but she felt her heart melt as she looked at Wyatt. She wasn't scared or freaked out by the word, it almost comforted her in a way. It answered every question she's asked herself in the last few days.
Wade was in shock, he didn't know what to say, he kind of hopped Zoe didn't hear it but he knew that wasn't true. Maybe he could pretend he didn't hear it and just start a random conversation. He looked over at Zoe and saw the smile on her face as she looked down at his son. He didn't recognize it from Zoe but he remembered seeing something similar from his own mother when he was little. The look in her eyes and the smile on her face was pure love.
Zoe looked up at Wade and saw the panic on his face mixed with a little confusion but he was smiling. She rattled her brain for something to say, was this the moment where their entire relationship would change forever? This was it. Was she in or out, it had to be decided now. She couldn't think of how to even start this conversation.
"I'm done." Zoe finally spoke up after probably a good 5 minutes of silence.
Wade's jaw dropped. He couldn't figure out what she meant and she wasn't saying anything else. "What?" he asked in fear of what was going to come next
"I'm done, I can't do this anymore." She paused again and took a deep breath. "I have been going back and forth for days, driving myself crazy over nothing. This should have been the easiest decision of my life but I had to make it difficult. I have never loved anyone as much as I love this little guy." She paused and looked right at Wade. "Well, except for his Dad. I am so in love with you Wade and I can't imagine my life without you and him. I really don't know why it took me so long to figure that out and how it only took one little word to validate that for me. I want this." She stopped and waited for a reaction from him. He was just staring at her, jaw dropped, not blinking. "Wade?"
"Wow" he mumbled. Zoe couldn't help but laugh at his reaction and choice of words. She was definitely expecting more than a wow after all that. "Sorry." He said "I just." He stopped and looked at her. His expression changed to something Zoe didn't recognize. Wade stood up, took Wyatt from Zoe and walked away from her.
