"Hi" Zoe heard a tiny voice before she even opened her eyes. She pushed off of Wade's chest and looked at the bottom of their bed. All she could see in the dark was a tiny shadow of a little boy starring at her.
"Wyatt?" she asked
"Hi Mama." He crawled closer to her and plopped down between her and Wade.
"What is happening?" she asked and looked over at the clock "3 A.M oh no. Why are you awake?" She paused "No, how did you get out of your crib?" she sat up quickly. "Ow" she said touching her side.
"I climb." He told her with yawn.
Zoe sighed "Oh that's not good." She threw the covers off her and climbed out of bed. "Come on" she held her arms out for him. He crawled over and she lifted him off the bed. "Back to bed with you. I guess we're going bed shopping tomorrow. Oh it is too early for this." She continued to talk as she walked into Wyatt's room.
"Shh Mama" he told her.
"Sorry." She chuckled and laid him back in his crib. "Now stay here. I'll see you in the morning."
"Night night." He curled up with his blanket and went back to sleep.
"Weird." She said as she crawled back into bed and snuggled up next to Wade.
"Where were you?" he mumbled
"Putting our son back to bed. He climbed out of his crib."
"Again?" he asked with a giant smile, the same smiled that would spread across his face anytime Zoe would say "our son."
"What do you mean again?"
"He did that last week a couple times during his nap."
"Ugh Wade, that's dangerous. He needs a bed."
"Ok, see me at Christmas."
"That's three weeks away, he needs it now. We'll go tomorrow." She kissed his chest. "Night"
"Good night."
The next morning Wade walked into Wyatt's room to get him up but he wasn't there. "Ah" he said and ran out. He ran downstairs and searched for him in every room. "What the?" he asked and ran back up stairs.
"Where are you running to?" Zoe asked walking out of their bedroom.
"Uh, I can't find Wyatt."
"You lost him?" she yelled
"No, I didn't. We were both sleeping, he just wandered off."
"Well are all the doors still locked? Could he have left?"
"No the doors are still locked. He's not downstairs and the basement door is still closed as well."
"Where is my baby?" she asked
"Well he has to be around here somewhere. Check the bathroom, I'll check my office."
Zoe nodded and headed towards the bathroom and Wade headed for his office. He opened the door and saw nothing. He walked in and searched the entire room and then walked out. He saw Zoe coming out of one of the spare rooms.
"Nothing?" she asked
"Nope, one room left." He pointed to the room across from them. He opened the door and they didn't have to take two steps before spotting him sprawled out on the floor wrapped in his blanket.
"This kid is going to give me a heart attack one of these days." Zoe said letting out a sigh of relief. "We need to get a lock for his door if he's going to keep this up."
"Let's try the bed first. We have to go to that stupid Babies R Us again?"
"Yeah I guess. Why is it stupid?" she asked with a laugh
"Cause you take forever and a day in there looking at baby dresses for a little girl that we don't have." He wrapped his arms around her waist pulling her into him.
Zoe smiled and laid her head on his chest "I know but they're so cute."
"Morning." Wyatt yawned looking up at them
"Oh good morning, thanks for scaring us." Zoe told him
"Boo" Wyatt laughed.
Wade shook his head. "Little Bear you have to stay in your room at night and sleep in your crib."
"I climb." He told Wade
"Yes we know, stop it."
"Waffle." He said
"Yeah you're listening." He chuckled "Let's go have breakfast."
"Yay Waffle" Wyatt started running down the stairs.
"Slow down." Zoe yelled after him. "Ow" she said grabbing her side.
"You ok?" Wade asked
"Yeah. Just a cramp."
"Hello" Wyatt called from the kitchen
"We're wanted." Wade laughed
"So bossy."
Wade started making the waffles and Zoe decided to get showered and ready for the day. The boys were half way done with breakfast when Zoe came back downstairs.
"You ok Babe?" Wade asked looking at her
"Yeah, my stomach hurts but that's all." She shot him a small smile
"Ok, well your breakfast is on the counter."
"I'm not hungry, you guys eat it. I'm just going to have some juice."
"No coffee?"
"No, don't feel like it."
After Wade and Wyatt were both ready they piled in the care and drove out to Mobile. When they pulled into the parking lot Wyatt got excited.
"Toys" he clapped
"No, no toys. You have enough of those. We are here to get you a bed."
"Wyatt big boy" he told them
"Yes you are." Zoe smiled taking him out of the car. "Let's go." She held out her hand and he took it.
"Mon Daddy." Wyatt waved to Wade.
"Coming little man." Wade ran up to them and took Wyatt's other hand.
30 minutes and red sports car bed later they were headed home. Zoe was awfully quiet the whole time they were shopping and in the car and Wade was growing concerned.
"Hey, are you sure you're ok? You don't look to good."
"Yeah. I think I have a stomach bug or something. I'm getting nauseous now."
"Alright, we'll be home in ten." Zoe just nodded and laid her head back on the headrest. Once they were home Wade got Wyatt, who passed out on the way home into bed. He helped Zoe up the stairs and into their bed and sat down next to her. He put his hand on her forehead. "You're warm."
"Yeah, I really don't feel well." She mumbled, laying down and resting her head on the pillow. "I'm going to try and take a nap."
"Ok, I'll be downstairs if you need me." He kissed her head and left the room.
Zoe only got a little bit of sleep before there was a pounding on her door and then it opened. "Hi Mama." Wyatt yelled running in the room and climbing up on the bed.
Zoe picked her head up a tiny bit but then put it back. "Hi" she whispered. "Daddy's downstairs. Go play with him, Mama doesn't feel well."
"Mama ick?" he asked
"Yes, now shh. Go find Daddy."
"Ok." He smiled and jumped off the bed which caused it to shake and Zoe to wince in pain.
"Ow" she yelled.
Wade was half way up the stairs when he heard her yell and he ran up the rest and right into their room. "What's wrong?" he asked
"He jumped off the bed and it shook it. My stomach really hurts."
"Have you puked?"
"Not yet but I feel like I could."
Wade pouted "I'm sorry Baby. I'll get him out of here." Zoe just nodded. "Come on Bud, let's go have some lunch. Leave Mama alone."
"Mama ick." He told Wade.
"Yes she is so we have to be quiet and let her sleep."
"Shhh, night Mama." He waved
Zoe smiled and closed her eyes again. After another couple of hours Wade went to check on Zoe. "Hey Babe?" he whispered walking in the room.
"Hi." She whispered back
"How we feeling?"
"No better."
"Still pain in your stomach?"
"Yeah."
"Where?" he asked
Zoe pointed to where the pain was and screamed. "Crap." She cried. "Oh that hurts."
"So don't touch it." He smirked but Zoe sill crying in pain wiped the smirk right off. He climbed next to her and wrapped his arm around her. "It's ok, do you want to go to hospital? Should I call Brick?"
She finally settled down. "No, it's easing up a bit. I'm ok."
"Do you want anything? You haven't eaten all day."
"No, I am in no mood to eat."
"How about something to drink?"
"Some juice or something I guess."
"Ok, I'll be right back."
"Where is Wyatt?"
"Playing downstairs. He's fine, don't worry about him." When Wade returned a minute later with her juice, Zoe was sitting up. "Hey feeling better?"
"Yes it seems to have gone away, thank you." She said taking the cup from him.
"Good I'm glad. I'm going to go start dinner. You don't want soup or anything."
"No, thanks though."
Wade nodded and left the room. About a half hour later he heard a scream from upstairs followed by his name.
"Shit." He mumbled and ran up the stairs towards Zoe. "What's the matter?" he asked in a panic
"The pain is back and worse. We need to get to the hospital now. I think my appendix burst."
"Are you kidding me?" he asked running towards her. "You didn't know this was happening?"
"No, let's go, now. Go get Wyatt."
"Ok, ok. Hold tight."
Wade ran downstairs grabbed Wyatt and his bag and threw him in the car. He then ran back in the house and helped Zoe to the car. "Should I call someone?"
"No, just drive." She winced in pain and grabbed onto her stomach. "Ahh" she yelled again.
"Mama" Wyatt started to cry in the back seat
"It's ok Baby, Mama's gonna be ok. I should have known this, I'm a doctor. I should have known."
"Let's not stress over that now ok. Just stay calm, we'll be there as fast as I can get you there."
"Be careful." She whispered and let out a roar of pain again as Wyatt continued to cry from the back.
"It's ok Buddy." Wade reached back and rubbed Wyatt's leg, trying to calm him. "Surgery right?"
"Yeah, I'll be in hospital for a couple daaaays." She screamed
"Ok almost there, hang tight Babe."
10 minutes later Wade was pulling up to the ER. He ran out of the car and inside.
"Can I help you sir?" the nurse at the desk asked
"Yes, my fiancé's appendix burst, she's in the car with our son."
"Ok." She waved another nurse over and told him to go outside with Wade. She then called for a doctor.
Zoe was wheeled in followed by Wade carrying Wyatt. They brought Zoe right into an exam room and handed Wade a clipboard of forms.
"Is someone else coming for your son?" a nurse asked
"I have to call but yeah, someone will come for him." Wade told her and got to filling out the forms.
"Mr. Kinsella?" another nurse walked up to him
"Yeah, how is she?"
"They are bringing her in for emergency surgery now. Her appendix did in fact burst so the possibility of laparoscopic surgery is out. It will take about 2 hours to complete. You and your son can wait in the waiting room on the third floor."
"Alright thank you very much. This is a semi common thing right? She'll be ok?" he asked
The nurse smiled. "Yes this is common, she should be fine."
"Daddy." Wyatt finally spoke up and picked his head up off Wade's shoulder. "Where Mama?" he asked
"The doctors are making Mama feel all better. You'll see her soon." He kissed his head.
"He is so cute." The nurse told him
"Thank you." Wade smiled back and stood up. "3rd floor you said?"
"Yes."
"Again, thanks." He carried Wyatt towards the elevator. "I have to call someone to get you. Of course Lavon and AB decided to go visit her sister this weekend. How about Aunt Lemon?" he asked him.
"Aunt Lemon?" Wyatt asked
"Yeah, I'll call her." Once he got into the waiting room he called Lemon.
"Hi Wade." She answered
"Hey Lemon, I need a favor."
"Anything, what's up?"
"Um well, we're at the hospital right now." He started
"What? Why? What's wrong?" she asked in a panic
"Zoe was having these stomach pains all day and then they stopped and then started again. Turns out it was her appendix and it burst. She's in surgery now."
"Oh my gosh Wade, I'm so sorry."
"She'll be fine but I need you to come get Wyatt if you could."
"Of course, I'll be there as soon as I can."
"You need his car seat though. So just go to our house and take Zoe's car from there. It will be easier."
"Ok no problem. I'll be there right away."
"Thank you so much. We are in the waiting room on the third floor."
"See you soon. Hang in there."
Wyatt climbed down from his lap a couple minutes later and started climbing up and down the chairs in the room.
"Wyatt sit down." He told him
"No" Wyatt yelled back
"Excuse me?"
"No" he laughed
Wade growled. "I don't need this kid. Don't you think I'm stressed enough?" he got up from his chair and picked Wyatt up. "Sit." He put him on a chair. Wyatt growled back and got up from the chair. "You have got to be kidding me." Wade huffed. He picked Wyatt up and sat him on his sat. "Now you can sit with me."
After another half hour of fighting with Wyatt, Lemon and George came walking into the waiting room.
"Tuck." Wyatt ran to him
"Hi Bud, you ready to go home?" George asked him
"Mama." He said
"You'll see her tomorrow. You're gonna come stay with me an Aunt Lemon."
"No, Mama." He wiggled down from George's arms and ran to Wade.
"No Wy, you go with Uncle Tuck. You can come see Mama tomorrow."
"Mama ick." He told Wade
"Yes and tomorrow she'll be better." He kissed him.
"You want us to stay?" Lemon offered
"No, thanks. You're better off getting him home now and ready for bed. Depending on what time she gets out and how she is I might be home, I might not."
"It's ok, don't worry about it. We got him. Would you like us to stay at your place?"
"Whatever you are more comfortable with."
"He'll probably be better at his house though." Lemon added
"True, that's fine with me." He handed Wyatt over to Lemon. "Be a good boy, I'll see you tomorrow."
"No Daddy, Mama." He started to cry
"It's ok, she'll be ok." He told him. "Here is his bag. Everything else is at home, obviously. He climbs out of his crib though so beware."
"Ok" Lemon smiled. "Don't you worry about him, you just concentrate on Zoe and yourself."
"Thanks guys." Wade hugged them both. "Have a good night."
"Say Bye." Lemon told Wyatt
"No." he pouted
"Just go." Wade kissed Wyatt "Be good." He warned again as they left the room and Wyatt started crying. "Oh boy." He chuckled
Another hour of pacing the waiting room and a doctor finally walked in the room.
"Mr. Kinsella." He started
