A/N: I'm so so so so so so so so so so so SORRY! Okay let me break down what happened.

#1. Last chapter I told you guys my mom was sick. Well she got worse. She was sick for almost three weeks solid. She has a lot of health issues so I kinda panic when she gets sick. A simple cold could take her from me. So I was worried, taking care of her, and working 45-50hrs a week at work.
#2. Mockingjay came out and we got busy at work. I was working odd hours and was too tired to write when I would get home. Inspiration was not on my side (I must have started this chapter twenty or more times! In almost everyone's POV).
#3. Thanksgiving. Again busy at work. Why do people come to see movies on holidays and then say 'I'm sorry you're working instead of being home with your family'? Sure you are…lol.
#4. Black Friday = shopping for most (NEVER for me, I'd rather spend thousands more and avoid crowds) but for me it meant having an eighteen year old dream come true. I went to my first concert and it was Justin Timberlake! I had a fuck-awesome seat! At one point he was literally like five feet in front of me! I've been in love with him since I was ten! I'm still on a high from seeing him!

So again I'm sorry! *Big Hugs for everyone!*

My love and thanks to everyone who has read, reviewed, fav'ed and/or followed Surviving!

Twilight =not mine Surviving =MINE!

Esme's POV

"We've found them."

My whole world comes to a screeching halt at those three small words. My eyes water and spill over as I grab Carlisle's hand. Our son. They've found our son!

"Esme? Carlisle? You there?" Aro's voice comes through the phone as the doorbell rings.

"Yes!" Carlisle cries out. "We're here. Where are they? Are they okay? When can we see them? Are they being taken to the hospital? I need to speak to the doctors..."

"Slow down Carlisle." Aro says in a commanding voice. "That's probably Marcus at the door." He says as the doorbell rings again.

"He is going to bring you and Esme down to the station. We don't have a lot of information right now but I am in contact with the police down in Florida. I will have more details for you when you get here. I promise. I'll see you soon." Aro says before the phone goes silent

He didn't even say if they are alive! My heart beats wildly as I jump to my feet and run to the door. I yank the door open and come face to face with Marcus.

"Tell me!" I plead staring up at him.

"We found them." Marcus says lowly, no enthusiasm to his voice. Oh dear god!

"Tell me that they're alive! TELL ME!" I scream; panic seizing my insides, as I slump towards the floor. Carlisle's strong arms catch me before I can hit the ground.

"Marcus, are they…?" He asks; his voice barely above a whisper.

"They're alive." Carlisle's grips my arms tighter; my body sagging at his words. Alive! My kids are alive!

"But?" he questions.

"We don't have all the details yet but it seems the kids managed to escape Felix and made it a few miles before he caught up to them." He runs a hand through his hair and looks at the floor. "They're both unconscious and currently in surgery."

"We need to get there! NOW!" I pull myself out of Carlisle's arms and dash up the stairs. I head straight for my closet; pulling my carry-on suitcase down, and start throwing in the bare necessities.

"Esme?" Alice's voice drifts in from the bedroom. Moments later she's standing at the door. "What's going on? Why are you packing? What's happened?!"

"They've found them Alice." I shove a few more items into the bag and close it. "In Florida."

"They're alive!?" I look up and meet her eyes. She stands frozen in the doorway, tears streaming down her face. I open my arms and she crosses the room.

"They haven't told us much but yes they're alive." I say pulling her into a hug and squeezing her tight. "I need to get to Florida. I need to be there when they get out of surgery. Can you look up flights for us?"

"Esme, love, Marcus already has us on the next available flight to Jacksonville." Carlisle steps into the closet and takes my bag. "We need to go to the station first and then we will get a police escort to the airport."

"I want to come." Alice begs. "I need to be there too!"

"Alice we need you here." Carlisle puts his hand on her shoulder as her tears start again. "I know how you feel sweetheart. I really do."

"No you don't!" She cries; shrugging his hand off. "If you did, you'd let me come! You'd let me be there for them!"

"Alice..." Carlisle starts, but she storms out before he can continue.

"She'll be okay." I grab his hand "Let's go get our kids."

CPOV

"Alright Aro…Yes sir…Yes sir…I'll let them know. See you soon." Marcus throws his phone onto the passenger seat. "Change of plans. We are going to meet Aro at the airport."

"Why? Has something happened?" My voice wavers.

"Nothing has changed. Aro was able to get us on an earlier flight." Marcus glances back at us through the rearview mirror. "I will make sure Felix gets what's coming to him. I promise you."

I meet his eyes and give a brief nod.

"How are my kids?" I ask as soon as I see Aro walk onto the plane. "Is Felix in custody?"

"I don't know much yet. The kids are still in surgery. They have extensive injuries. The doctors haven't given us any updates." He throws a file on his chair and takes his coat off.

"And Felix?" I ask looking at the file.

"He managed to get away before police arrived." He sighs; picking up the file, before dropping into his seat. "We don't know where he currently is."

"What do you know?" I growl. That fucking piece of shit is out there somewhere. A free man after he kidnapped and tortured my kids! Esme runs her hand up and down my arm; soothing me with each stroke.

"I know that when we find the fucker, he's gonna pay." Aro opens the file and grimaces. "Dearly."

"What's in there?" Esme asks, looking cautiously at the file.

"Some information and photos …" Aro closes it and stores it in his bag.

I open my mouth to demand to see it, but Aro gives me a look that stops me in my tracks.

"I will let you see everything, but this is not the right time. It's a long flight and I'd rather you not be stuck on a crowded airplane when you see this."

Esme whimpers next to me and I pull her tighter to my side. "Thank you Aro."

He gives me a small smile and pulls out his laptop. "Try and get a few hours of sleep. I'll wake you before we land."

"Ladies and gentlemen, the captain has turned the fasten seatbelts sign back on. Please return your seats to their upright positions and put away all electronic devices as we begin our final decent into Jacksonville. Once again we thank you for flying with us today!"

The flight attendant's voice jars me from my sleep. I look down and find Esme's head resting on my chest. I push the strands of hair off her face and her eyes pop open.

"Are we there?" She sits up and looks out the window.

"The plane will touch down in about ten minutes." Aro closes his laptop and shoves back in his bag. "There is a squad car waiting just outside the terminal. The hospital is fifteen from here. Lights and sirens and I can get you there in eight."

The moment the plane is on the ground everything feels like it's in fast forward. One moment we are walking through the terminal and the next we're pulling open the front doors to the hospital.

"Detective Volturi. I'm Captain Harry Clearwater of the Jacksonville police department." He reaches out and shakes Aro's hand before turning to us. "You must be Dr. and Mrs. Cullen. I just want to let you know that I have every available man and women looking for Felix Black."

"Thank you." I say pulling Esme towards me, her body shaking at the mention of Felix.

"Right. So follow me and I'll get the head doctor who has been working on the kids." Harry turns and we all follow wordlessly.

"Just have a seat in here and I'll grab someone." He pushes a door open to a private waiting room. Esme and I step in followed by Marcus.

"I'll be back soon. I just need to speak with Captain Clearwater. Marcus, keep me updated." Aro follows Harry's retreating form down the hall.

Seconds later there is a knock and an exhausted looking man opens the door. "Dr. and Mrs. Cullen?" He asks stepping into the room. "I'm Dr. Pearce. I'm the lead doctor on both Bella and Edward's cases."

"How are our kids?" Esme's lip trembles. "Are they out of surgery yet? Can we see them?"

"They are just coming out of surgery. They are stable at the moment. I will take you to see them as soon as they are placed in their rooms."

"Why are procedures taking so long? How extensive are their injuries?" I ask sinking onto the couch; pulling Esme with me. I have a feeling we'll both need to be sitting to hear this.

"I'll be honest with you. The kids are in bad shape." He sighs and sits down. "To start with, they are both dehydrated and malnourished. Both had multiple bones that were healing in improper ways. We had to re-brake quite a few of them."

"Bella had to have surgery on her left wrist. She won't be able to use it like she used to. It appears to have been broken repeatedly and damaged a lot of the nerves."

"Edward's right ankle required surgery as well. From what I've been told Edward is one hell of a football and baseball player. Unfortunately I don't think he'll be able to play like he used to. At least not anytime soon. He's going to need a lot of physical therapy to build the strength back up."

I wring my hands together and look at the floor as Dr. Pearce continues. My stomach churns and the room suddenly becomes very hot.

"When the kids were found Edward was unconscious and barely breathing. He was shot multiple times in the back."

I jump off the couch, run to the trash can in the corner of the room, and empty the contents of my stomach into it.

"Shhh. It's okay. It's okay" Esme's voice cracks as she rubs my back.

"I'm sorry…I'm sorry." I wipe my mouth and sit back on my heels

"Should I give you a moment?" Dr. Pearce asks handing me a bottle of water.

"No. I'm sorry." I open the bottle and rinse my mouth.

He eyes me wearily but continues as soon as we sit back down on the couch.

"He had a ruptured spleen which caused some internal bleeding, a few broken ribs, and a collapsed lung. It wasn't a pretty sight when we got in, but thankfully the bullets missed his major organs and spinal cord."

"So he's going to be okay?" Esme whispers; wiping the tears from her eyes.

"He's got a hell of a road in front of him but yes, he's going to be okay." I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding and grab Esme's hand. My baby boy…my reason for existing…he's alive and he's going to make a full recovery!

"And Bella?" I ask.

"Bella was also found unconscious. She was shot in her thigh and upper arm. It was obvious the person shooting just wanted to cause her pain when they shot her. When they shot Edward it was clear they thought they had killed him. Logically one of the bullets should have killed him. Her…they just wanted her in pain."

I swallow back the bile that begins to rise again. How can someone be so evil? How could someone look into their innocent eyes and purposely hurt them?

"She was stabbed in her abdomen and suffered cuts to her face, hands, arms, and legs. The injuries show she was trying to fight them off." He leans back and closes his eyes. "She must have put up a good fight and the person just wanted to finish the job."

"Her skull was fractured by a serious blow to the head; a rock was found lying next to her. And when they saw she was still breathing they slit her throat."

Esme gasps and her tears start fresh. "They…he…oh my god!"

"We lost her on the table. Twice. But that girl is a fighter. She's stronger than I could ever hope to be." He sits forward; elbows resting on his knees. "She's in a coma. We don't know if there is any brain damage. The scans look okay but we won't know anything until she wakes up."

"Can we see them now?" My voice breaks and I fight back tears. "We need to see our kids."

"Of course." He stands and we follow him to the nurse's station.

"Can you tell me the room number for Edward Cullen and Isabella Swan?" Dr. Pearce asks the young nurse.

"Yes sir." She types their names into her computer and hits search. "Edward is in room 1901 and Bella is still in the ICU. Bed number four."

"Thank you Ann." Dr. Pearce turns to us. "Bella will stay in the ICU tonight and if she is still stable in the morning we will have her moved to Edward's room."

I nod and follow him to the elevator. "The ICU is on this floor and Edward is one floor up. I'm going to go check in on Bella and I'll come find you in a little while." He pats me on the back and walks back the way we came. We step into the elevator and ride the short distance up.

"We have police stationed outside of Edward's room and in the ICU with Bella." Marcus' voice startles me. How did I forget he was here?

"Why?" Esme asks squeezing my hand when she sees room 1901. Edward is in there. Just twenty feet away.

"We don't know where Felix is or who works for him." Marcus pulls out his cell and sends a text. "We don't know if he knows the kids are still alive. We aren't taking any chances. I'll be out here if you need anything."

"Thank you, Marcus. For everything." He smiles and nods.

Esme pulls me forward and we walk into Edward's room. My eyes water as I take in my son. He looks so small. So weak. His eyes are closed and his chest rises and falls slowly. A tube is down his throat, helping him breathe.

Images of the last time he was in the hospital flash through my mind. 'Relax Carlisle. It's not like last time.' I give myself a pep talk. 'He's going to be okay. We aren't here to possibly say goodbye. He's going to be okay.'

"Oh Edward!" Esme cries; crossing the room and grabbing his hand. "We're here baby. We're here."

I walk slowly around his bed and take his other hand in mine. He feels so fragile. I lean over and kiss his forehead; my tears finally spilling down my cheeks.

"I love you, Edward. I love you so much."
