Hey everybody, I'm finally back with an update for RotH here. It's a short chapter, but it is a plot developer and progresses the story along. I also do what I intended by bringing in a new submitted OC as the last one I brought in was about three chapters back. I'm still taking OCs, check the bottom to see the types that are still needed before filling out the form on my profile page. I still need bad guys, so please send them in.

David, Michka, Rein, Roland, Dean, Katherine and Dameon were sitting around one of the few remaining tables that managed to survive the fight they had an hour back. Each other them had bandages around the cuts they sustained. David touched his nose gingerly and could feel the gauzes that were packed inside after Yuri's bouncer broke it. He was thankful for the A-Gene's ability for advanced regeneration of basic injuries and he would only have to deal with the pain for about a day before it was back to normal.

Yuri had a doctor living with him above the bar in his apartment that helped treat their injuries. The doctor was young, much to the surprise of Dameon's group. The girl stood at about five foot six and had an athletic body that was accompanied by thick, straight, shoulder length brown hair and cobalt eyes. Her treatment was quick and accurate and the group was thankful for that.

"I see my doctor fixed you up nicely," Yuri said as he sat down with a twelve pack of beer.

"Yeah, she did a good job," Dean replied as he caught a bottle of beer from Yuri.

"What's her name?" Michka asked.

"Her name is Claire Redgrove. I met her a few months ago when she came in here to get a drink," Yuri replied. "She needed a place to stay and said she was willing to do anything to do it, so I hired her to be our personal doctor."

The group glanced at Claire as she vanished up the stairs to put her gear away. When she was gone, David's look became serious as he turned his attention back to Yuri. His old friend noticed his look and looked curious.

"What's wrong?" Yuri asked.

"How long have you known she was a hybrid like us?" David asked as he took a sip of his drink.

David's question caught the rest of his friends by surprise. Claire was a hybrid? How did he know that?

"Where the hell did that come from?" Rein asked.

"We hybrids have the ability to detect when there's another one in our presence. It takes practice, but when you learn how to build your senses you can easily tell," David replied.

"I honestly had no idea she was one," Yuri said as he gulped down the rest of his beer.

"I find that a little hard to believe. With you being ex-Spetsnaz I'd imagine you'd do all the background checks you could before admitting her into your care," Dameon said.

Yuri sent a brief glare at Dameon before sighing.

"I did do a check on her, but only the bits that I thought were necessary," Yuri said as he cracked open another bottle.

"What did you find out about her?" Michka asked.

Yuri held up a finger as he swallowed the rest of the contents in his bottle before cracking another one, much to Michka's chagrin. He then started to explain how he and Claire first met. A few months back she came into the bar a couple of hours before close and started to have a few drinks. Yuri had served as the bartender for the night and struck up some small talk with her. Claire was from Petalburg City in the Hoenn Region but she came to the United States in search for a job as a doctor because she wanted to go to a different area to work. She was having a hard time trying to find a job and a place to stay for in the city and that was when Yuri made his offer. Ever since, Claire had been the personal doctor for Yuri and his staff at the bar.

"So she's from Hoenn too, huh?" Michka asked with a smile. "Sweet, I'm not the only one now!"

Yes she…" Yuri replied but he was cut off when one of his bouncers came back into the building.

"The police are done here, boss. I'm going to drink for a bit and hit the sack," said the bouncer.

"Fine, but don't be too hung over tomorrow. We need to clean up this shithole," Yuri replied.

The bouncer nodded and grabbed an intact bottle of liquor from the destroyed shelf and opened it. He grabbed a small glass and sat down at what remained of the counter. Yuri shook his head and took another drink from his beer as he turned his attention back the group.

"Yes, Claire is from Hoenn. She is here legally and has citizenship," Yuri continued.

"Good, that will keep the government off her back," Dean said.

"What do you mean?"

"You heard what has been going on in the news haven't you? This is about the A-Gene and the world governments trying to create a super soldier."

"To be honest, I have not been paying too much attention to that. After working for the military and my government and witnessing just how much power and corruption can turn a true man into an unrelenting monster, I've decided I could give a fuck."

"I like the way you think!" Rein said holding up a hand for a high-five.

Yuri just blinked at Rein who slowly lowered her hand and shifted in embarrassment.

"Way to leave me hanging, douche," Rein muttered.

Ignoring Rein's comment, Yuri turned back to Dean to continue the conversation.

"Explain to me how Claire being here legally will keep the government off her back. What's going on?" Yuri asked.

"She's a hybrid like us," Dean replied. "The reason why we came to see you is because we need a place to hide so we can figure out what's truly going on."

"Is your own government hunting you because of this?"

"Yeah. We're being hunted and experimented on because our scientists are getting closer to cracking the code to the A-Gene and they need us to take samples and continue testing the soldiers."

Yuri's fists clenched at the thought of the Americans using their own soldiers as guinea pigs to test the A-Gene. Not only was it barbaric, but they were killing their own men in an attempt to create something that would only lead to chaos down the road. He was sure that the soldiers that were being tested on volunteered of their own accord, but they were blindly committing to something that would only kill them later if they survived the ordeal.

"How long ago did you last encounter any government agents?" Yuri asked.

"They're not agents per se, but more of a detached special task force run by someone we know," David replied.

"What makes up the task force?"

"Hybrids like us that are serving the government along with any poor bastards they pull from the Army or Marine Corps."

"Wait, why would hybrids be working for the government if they are being captured by them?"

"I'm not entirely sure. When I asked the leader of the task force that question when we were held captive, he only told me that he had his own methods of making sure his plans go through."

"Wait, you were held captive? Is that why I haven't heard from you in the past two months?"

"Yeah, me, Dameon, Michka and Rein here were held inside a hidden base in Nevada and escaped a little over a week ago. We just added Dean, Katherine and Roland here after we had a fight with those chodes in Kansas."

"I see."

Yuri finished his bottle and set it beside the stack he had at his side. He grabbed another one and noticed Michka's look of disgust when he did that. He ignored the look she gave him and cracked the bottle open to take another drink.

"So, seeing as you are here for a place to lay low, I'm assuming this is the favor I owe you after we escaped Verkhoyansk?" Yuri asked.

"Yeah," David replied with a nod. "I know after this that will be the last favor I get until I help you with one."

"That's right. So, to answer your question, I can give you a location for one of my safe houses that you can use as long as you need it."

"I appreciate it, Yuri. Where is this one at?"

"The one I will give you is in Texas, just near the border."

David smiled and outstretched his hand and Yuri shook it with a smile.

"I can't thank you enough, man," David said.

"We're blood brothers, David. That's what we do," Yuri replied.

"Amen to that."

Yuri, David, Dean, Dameon and Roland all clinked their bottles together as a toast and took a long drink. A small crash came from the counter and gathered the attention of the group as they saw the bouncer try to get to his feet after falling off the chair. Yuri shook his head and glared at his subordinate before cursing him out.

"For fuck's sake, Davidov! Clean up and get your ass to detox! You're going to be doing extra work tomorrow!" Yuri snapped.

"I don't want to go to detox. Claire will kill me!" Davidov protested.

"You'd better pray she kills you or else I will."

The color seemed to drain from Davidov's face from Yuri's threat. He stumbled to his feet and covered his mouth as he was about to vomit on the ground, but Yuri had other plans. He pulled out his signature Five-Seven and pointed it at Davidov.

"I'm going to count to three and if your ass is still in this bar when you blow chow, I will shoot you in the fucking head!" Yuri sneered.

There were mixed reactions to Yuri's threat towards Davidov. Michka and Katherine's eyes were wide with shock and they covered their mouths in surprise. Rein's face was beaming as she looked between Yuri and Davidov. David smirked and shook his head as he took another swig from his beer. Dameon, Roland and Dean looked at the scene with amusement. Davidov was at the door to the bar almost instantly after Yuri pointed his gun at him and burst outside and disappeared from sight.

Yuri tucked his gun away and gulped down more beer. He noticed Rein's beaming expression and cocked an eyebrow in wonder at the girl.

"God, you Russian's are awesome!" Rein grinned.

"Thank you for the compliment…" Yuri answered as he pointed a finger at her.

"Reinforce Yukimura at your service!"

"You are a very interesting girl."

"Insane is the more accurate term," David muttered.

"What was that, assclown?" Rein demanded as she glared at David.

The group laughed at the light banter that was exchanged between the three of them. Dameon stood up from the table and started walking to the stairs after Yuri told him there were some beds that they could use. He didn't bother saying goodnight to the group as he left.

"What's wrong with your friend?" Yuri asked.

"He's gone through a lot of shit in these past couple of weeks," David replied.

"I see."

Outside the bar, a black Audi was parked in a neighboring parking lot. The windows were rolled up to maintain a low profile for the occupants inside. Bill Harding and Seishiro Tokugawa had arrived in Madison not long ago and were now keeping surveillance on the bar that was holding their targets. Since neither of them had a method of personally going into the bar without being noticed, Seishiro came up with a rather brilliant idea. He let his Zoroark, Valens, out his ball and instructed him to take the disguise of one of the staff members of the bar when the police were gone to get inside and eavesdrop.

They had been sitting in the car for almost two hours since they arrived and were now entering their third as Valens was inside gathering the intel they desired. Seishiro pulled out a cigarette and his lighter and was about to light it but stopped when he felt Bill's gaze on him. He glanced out of his eye and could see the sharp glare his partner was giving him.

"If you value your fingers and your mouth you will not light that damn stick in my car," Bill said with a low tone.

"So? Just roll down the windows," Seishiro retorted.

"Two things, kid. One, we need to keep a low profile and rolling down the windows will gather the attention of others. Two, I don't want my car smelling like burning ash. Now put that away."

"Whatever."

Seishiro tucked the cigarette back in the box and placed it back in his pocket along with his lighter. He sighed and leaned back in his seat as his eyes reverted back to the alley where Valens was supposed to return to after he finished gathering information. The silence was beginning to annoy Seishiro and he was wishing he could be doing something more productive like painting or writing his new dark novel.

"I don't understand how you can do this stuff," Seishiro said.

"What stuff?" Bill replied.

"Sitting down and watching something for hours on end. It's dull."

"This coming from the one who is an assassin for hire? I thought you ninjas were supposed to study and observe a target before making the strike?"

"We do depending on the target's value. If it were something basic, I could just as easily poke or cut a man with my poisoned tanto on the street and keep walking while he dies minutes later."

"Tch, now that I would like to see. There's no way you can get away with something like that in your clothes."

"Is that a challenge?"

"If you want to make it one, but we can focus on that later. Just keep your eyes open."

Bill looked out the window as he patiently waited for Valens to come back. Sieshiro dug into his pockets for a pencil and a notebook. He flipped the pages and came to his last entry and started to write again. Being a Dark-type had its perks. One being able to see in the dark as though it were light was one of them. The scratching of his pencil was the only sound that broke the silence of the car. As Seishiro continued his writing, Bill looked over to see what he was writing about.

"What are you writing? Another entry in your diary?" Bill asked.

"No. I'm writing a book to gain some monetary value outside of that stipend that we get," Seishiro replied.

"I take it with your dark personality it's something emo?"

"If you are trying to get a rise out of me, you're failing miserably. And, correction, emo is defined as a style of rock music resembling punk but having more complex arrangements and lyrics that deal with emotional subjects."

"Dark, emo, sounds like the same damn thing to me."

"It's actually a common misconception, so don't feel discouraged for being wrong."

"Did your father ever tell you to go out back and practice digging some holes?"

"No, because according to my mother, I was a bastard child. So I never had the luxury of having a father in my life."

"That was a joke, kid. Christ, it's like I'm talking to a fucking robot when it comes to you."

Seishiro resumed his writing and Bill rubbed his eyes. Bill checked his watch and checked the alley once again. It had been over an hour ago since Valens had gone inside and it was now very late. He needed to stay awake long enough for Valens to get back and report to them so he could call Langdon. His wish was granted when he saw Valens come out from the alley and shift back into his original form before hurrying over to the car and crouching beside Seishiro's window.

"Your partner's back. Get him in and we can get going," Bill said as he started the car.

Seishiro opened the door and Valens clambered into the back seat and stretched out. Bill began driving to the street and pulled out his phone to call Langdon. While Bill was busy contacting Langdon, Valens filled Seishiro in on everything that he heard. Seishiro jotted down everything that Valens said for record and handed the notes to Bill.

"Colonel Gardner, we have found the escaped hybrids," Bill said.

"Excellent. What did you manage to gather intel wise?" Langdon replied.

"They got together with Montes' contact Yuri Dranovich and he is providing them a safe house to use down in Texas. I'm pretty sure they'll start heading there tomorrow."

"Where in Texas is this safe house located? We may be able to kill two birds with one stone since we still have to transport George Hatfield and a few others there."

Bill looked back at Valens expectantly but received a shrug from the lounging Pokémon. He sighed and replied back.

"We were unable to get the location of where it was as Yuri failed to mention it."

"It doesn't matter. Do you still have that tracking device I told you to pack?" Langdon replied.

"Yeah, it's in my pocket."

"Good. Find their car and plant it in the wheel well."

"We're on it. Is there anything else you need us to do?"

"Once you've planted the tracker I want you to get back here immediately so I can put the next part of the plan into effect."

"Understood."

"Is there anything else I should know?"

"Actually, there is. Apparently Dranovich's personal doctor is a hybrid from the Hoenn region."

"Do you happen to have the doctor's name?"

"Yeah, her name is Claire Redgrove."

"Alright, I'll look in the database for a Claire Redgrove. In the meantime, start coming back when you've planted the tracker."

There was a click as Langdon disconnected the call and Bill tucked the phone away. He turned to Seishiro and jerked his head at Valens.

"Ask him if he knows where they parked," Bill said.

Seishiro talked to Valens and received his answer. He pointed at the upcoming street and Bill turned into it and continued up the road.

"Valens said that they parked in a parking ramp beside Memorial Union which according to the map is right at the end of the road here," Seishiro said.

Bill grunted and floored the car down the road. Sure enough there was a parking ramp that was near the lakefront and a building beside it. They entered the garage and started searching for the cars. Bill only knew what car Blackburn had as it was identified by the police from Missouri. He looked down the left and his eyes fell on the old muscle car. Although he would not admit it, Bill had to give Dameon credit for taking care of such a rare care.

He pulled up behind the car and noticed a black Ford F150 with Kansas license plates. Putting two and two together, he felt around his pocket for the tracker that Langdon gave him. He took a second one just in case something would happen to the first one. Getting out of the car, Langdon tucked the tracker into the wheel well of Dameon's car and then went to the truck and stuck the other. With his job done, Bill climbed back into the car and sped out of the garage and started driving towards the highway.

Yuri was sitting in his office and had his feet propped up on his desk. Everyone had gone to bed shortly after Dameon left and he went back up to his office. He sent for Claire to come by so he could have a long talk with her. Now that he figured out something that could potentially become a threat to him, he had to give her a choice. He pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed as he picked up his last bottle of beer and opened it. As the cool liquid touched his lips, a small knock came from the door.

"Come in," Yuri answered.

The door creaked open and Claire entered the room and closed the door behind her.

"You wanted to see me, Yuri?" Claire asked.

"Yeah, take a seat Claire. We need to have a talk."

The brunette obeyed Yuri's request and sat down in the chair opposite him. He offered her a beer but she passed it off with a wave of her hand.

"What did you need to talk to me about?" Claire asked.

"How long have you been a hybrid?" Yuri replied.

And that's the chapter. I hope you all enjoyed it. Personally I had fun with writing Seishiro and Bill's bit the most for this chapter. I am getting ready to pick up my Xbox One in just a few hours, so you can tell my weekend is going to be productive school wise (says sarcastically and rolls eyes). Anyway, if I don't update again shortly, I hope you all have a good Thanksgiving. Spend time with those you love and enjoy some good food and, above all, football! Later!-CaptainPrice

"Time of Courage" by my good friend FiammaJoule: This story is becoming one of the new stories that contain people with Pokemon powers/souls. It's extremely interesting and the first chapter alone was enough to get my attention and I'm sure it will be of interest to a lot of you readers as well. The story revolves around a group of people known as S-Types that have the abilities of Pokemon and are being hunted down by the government. Michka Morre is the protagonist and it'll be great to watch her progress and grow to help lead the resistance against the government. (Recently Updated on 6/10/13)

"Elementals" by Morris Archeltum: Elementals... humans that can use the abilities just like a Pokemon. Hunted by the government, they live in hiding. But as the world starts falling apart, they might just be the only ones who can stop it.

New OC introduced: Claire Redgrove (Gentle Blossom)
